BUT DOES HIS SPOT HIT THE MARK?

With fewer than forty days before voters in the Palmetto State go to the polls, S.C. Sen. Vincent Sheheen (D-Columbia) has come out swinging with a new television advertisement slamming incumbent “Republican” governor Nikki Haley for her ethical problems.

Sheheen’s spot, entitled “Unethical,” features several South Carolina voters recalling some of the governor’s recent ethics missteps.

“We thought we could trust Nikki Haley to look out for us,” one voters says.

“But Haley used the state plane to fly to political events,” another adds.

Later in the 30-second spot, another set of voters mused over Haley’s unauthorized use of a state vehicle.

“Nikki Haley used an official state car to get to an out-of-state political fundraiser,” one of them says.

“And then she didn’t tell us when the car was wrecked,” another adds.

Here’s the spot …

Hmmmmm …

First of all, “you’re welcome” Sheheen campaign.

FITS was the first news outlet to break the story of Haley’s illegal use of her state vehicle … and we covered the ensuing saga extensively, including the S.C. State Ethics Commission’s decision to hold Haley accountable (which it then flip-flopped on less than 24 hours later).

Wonder why?  We don’t …

Anyway, Sheheen’s ad isn’t terrible … but it’s not the home run it could (and likely should) have been given Haley’s glaring vulnerability on this issue.

For example, Sheheen’s ad didn’t slam Haley for failing to disclose more than $40,000 she received from a company doing business before the state (or point out that she failed to recuse herself from votes benefiting her secret employer).  Nor did it expose the corrupt cover-up Haley got from her former colleagues in the S.C. House after a smoking gun tied her to illegal lobbying activity on behalf of another former employer.  It failed to mention how Haley’s administration illegally deleted emails and deliberately withheld public information from reporters.

Or any of a host of other more egregious examples of corrupt behavior …

In short, Sheheen’s ad represents a major missed opportunity … a failure to take full advantage of one of his opponent’s most exposed weaknesses.

And there you go: A line up of the typical Democrat voter. Or was that a sample of the average attendee at a “Climate Change” rally or Occupy Columbia? LMAO… …

I guess they cannot help what they are…but WOW! (: Thank God they are the minority of voters in SC. It may explain why we’re faring better than the rest of Obama’s America.

This just in (a month ago) from WLTX

“…SLED Chief Mark Keel told the Associated Press Tuesday that SLED didn’t think about telling the media about the wreck because it involved only the governor’s vehicle and no one was hurt. Keel says the wreck did $4,300 damage to the state-owned SUV….”

If a “scandal” involving a wrecked state car, being driven by a sober driver, who was driving the “gubernor” around is the best you got Vince, you’re dumber than you look. At least Will knows how to hype the event and make it look like something really bad happened.

I think the scandal would be her Governess taking a taxpayer funded car, and bodyguards or whatever the hell they are, to an out-of-state fundraising event that had absolutely nothing to do with SC business, and having the gravitas to think that it was up to the taxpayers to pick up the tab.

As long as she reimburses the state for the use it’s perfectly legal and possibly even a good idea.

That’s just the point. She had no intent to reimburse the state until she was caught with her hand in the cookie jar. Typical politician (and it happens on both sides). She’s just an egregious grifter who thinks she can do no wrong.

Oh, so THAT makes it ok then? Just checking.

The Colonel September 25, 2014 at 12:47 pm

Of course not – my point is we already have Haley figured out. She’s an amateur at best. Why replace her with a professional criminal who can do real damage in the form of Gilligan?

larry September 30, 2014 at 1:26 am

Please give us the low down on why you call Mr Sheheen a professional criminal give us the facts not your name calling ok .

Keel is a liar and incompetent, like most of Haley’s appointments.
He would have sold his immortal SOUL to be chief of SLED and probably has!

I have been moved to work on a couple of other “races” this fall. We see Haley at 52% and Sheheen at 41% with “independent” candidate(s) at 4%. Obama defeated Sheheen.

Race to watch is Louisiana-dem operatives are looking to steal that senate seat.

Good luck. And thank you for the polling info. for SC. It is a very logical report and I bet it is the most-accurate out there.

I just wish all states voted on logic. It would make your job much easier.

west_rhino September 25, 2014 at 12:53 pm

That would be the Landrieu whose husband has (and had before Katrina) the contracts from Corps of Engineers to maintain the levees that failed horribly?

Maybe he can join Ray “School Bus” Nagin in the slammer. FITS is always wanting to put the innocent in jail because they have an “R” by their name…..Funny how these self-righteous, Smarter-Than-Everybody-Else Liberal-Tarians NEVER find corruption among the corrupt, if there is a D involved.

It is a little hypocritical of Vinny Sheheen to discuss anyone’s ethics after he voted for Jean Toal.

Nikki your former supporter September 25, 2014 at 6:19 pm

At least Tom Ervin rant against Toal, in an effort to unseat her before she could do anymore damage.
Ervin is a viable alternative to the career politicians who talk out of both sides of their mouths and continue to give us the same old worn out, unethical, immoral and illegal activity.
They all talk ethic reforms and do NOTHING! Haley talked ethics reform and when her leadership was needed for votes on toughening ethics laws, she was in New York HOB KNOBBING WITH HER FAVORITE ROCK STAR and raising New York contributions for slick CAMPAIGN ADDS. Later when her leadership was needed she was raising campaign money in Texas.
She sold out our Charleston Port for campaign money out of Georgia!
Frankly, I don’t want my Governor elected with slick adds paid for with New York, Texas and Georgia money!
Haley is a proven liar and incompetent! She is AWOL from SC, just like Mark Sanford, when she is needed here for leadership and positive change!
SHE NEEDS TO BE VOTED OUT OF OFFICE!

This is like suggesting that Al Capone was a tax evader. This woman lied about her income, lied about her illegal lobbying, lied about her multiple adulteries, lied about her emails and her staff and cabinet appointees and her religion and job creation and God knows what else – and so the Dems bust her for a wrecked car? Weak. So long Vinny. Hello to 4 more years of Mrs. Haley’s lies.
