THEY’RE ABOUT TO SEIZE STUFF, CUT OFF EUROPE’S GAS …
By FITSNews || First off, for the unhip … this is what “bowed up” means. And “bowed up” is what Russia was last week when it conducted a major military drill.
Why was the bear flexing?
Well … according to The Moscow Times , Russian courts are on the verge of being permitted to seize western assets located within the country’s borders. The move is not a provocation, it’s a response to the western (read U.S.) sanctions that were enacted in the wake of the crisis in Ukraine.
There again Russia wasn’t provoking, it was responding to a U.S.-led coup that ousted Ukraine’s democratically elected government.
Anyway … we’re just making sure everybody’s got the originating point of all this drama located.
In addition to opening the door to the seizure of Western assets, Russia’s new law would provide state compensation to those whose foreign assets were seized by western governments – like the $40 million Italy stole earlier this week from Arkady Rotenberg, one of Russian president Vladimir Putin’s best buddies.
That hardly strikes us as fair to the Russian people … just as the tens of billions of dollars in crony capitalist subsidies doled out to favored American businesses hardly strikes us as fair to the U.S. taxpayer.
In addition to its threats regarding the seizure of foreign assets, Russia vowed this week to start cutting gas supplies to several European nations that it caught re-routing gas to Ukraine (which is currently under Russian sanctions).
Putin is playing for keeps in other words …
And why wouldn’t he? In addition to the provocation in Ukraine, America’s new war against Syria threatens to disrupt Russia’s plan for a Middle Eastern pipeline. Of course he’s “bowing up.”
Look, we’re not Russophiles. We don’t like Putin’s crony capitalism, excess bureaucracy or totalitarian tendencies anymore than we like Obama’s. But last time we checked only one of those men was supposed to be the leader of the “free” world.
Also the last time we checked, we started it … at a time when our economy (and the taxpayers who prop it up) could least afford it.

Why did you leave off Europe has record storage of Natural Gas right now in prepartions for this. Also, Europe already did sanctions to cut back on the Nat Gas from Russia. As for seizing assets, it is bc Russia is dead broke and they must get money from somewhere. With out Natural Gas and oil to the rest of the world, just get a bulldozer to the country and they would be bankrupt in 60 days. So yeah, Russia is beating their chest but the west knows Russia is screwed. BTW, the china thing, you know they have done deals like the oil deal 7 times in the last 15 years and every time it has collapsed bc each side hates one another.
BTW: We did the same thing to Japan before they attacked Pearl Harbor.
I remember Condi’s quote,”What are they gonna do with it, DRINK IT?”
Where would Bush’s leadership have been without Condi’s input?
Your point is very well taken. Yes, the comparisons are all too clear. And if we try to drive that Russian bear to distraction, it is a possiblity that Russia would attack the US, although Putin being a decent chess player, He will find some lesser minions to do the dirty … some who is not in love with BHO … like Iran?
This. LNG exports from the U.S would make up for any loss in supply long term from Russia
Record levels of gas stored in Western Europe; but record breaking cold winter is predicted for Europe as a result of El Nino and Jetstream movements. Cap’n ‘merika to da rescue. Right boiz? Adolescents reasoning.
Tell the truth Will, you used that photo because of the chicks (Chink chicks?) in hooker boots in the background didn’t you?
Note the symmetry with the height of the boots and the length of the skirts at the perfect level to emphasize those dimpled knees. These girls are all the same height to make that work — a very nice picture, indeed, since I don’t mind fantasizing every now and then.
Shifty, you are a gentleman and a scholar.
I bet Putin’s penis is barely an inch long even when bowed up – and probably is only bowed up when he poses and flexes in front of the mirror with no clothes. What a dick!
… but he seems to be quite the chess player … Oh Bummer?
You can do a lot of things when you have no moral compass, see Hitler.
I remember when we had a world leader. It was only six years ago but it feels like eons.
Bush was a Christian.Obama is a Muslim.
Give Obama credit. He is the new leader of Islam.
Bush was a Christian
—–
So was the Grand Inquisitor, only he didn’t drink.
Road apples. When did you need a world leader to tell you when to go to make love, have a drink, go out on a Friday night or buy a gun … or go to war?
Leaders are paid to tell you what you want to hear, not to actually appropriate funds to make it a reality.
“I remember when we had a world leader. It was only six years ago but it feels like eons.”
World leader? Yeah – President Bush did a really great job – and we’re still suffering from it . . . .
No, Obama cleaned up the Bush mess, he said so. We’ve pulled out of Iraq, Osama ben laden is dead and al-Qaeda is on the run, This one is on Obama.
No worries – President Clinton will be in office soon.
Not that, that would be good but it would be better than what we have now.
We’re suffering from Obama’s continuation of Bush’s foreign policy. This is an example of why liberals can’t be taken seriously.
I’d consider the tea party if they could spell.. and wear matching socks.
We’re suffering from Obama’s continuation of Bush’s foreign policy.
That’s true. McCain in 2008 would’ve been worse, not sure about Romney but at this point I’d be willing to wager the MIC had him under their thumb too. (After all, he wanted to spend billions building ships.)
Don’t worry, Hillary and whoever wins the Republican
circusprimary in 2016 will be equally shitty foreign policy-wise.If you’d just watch Fox News, they’d explain to you how everything bad about the Iraq and Afghanistan wars is actually Obama’s fault and everything good is to Bush’s credit. Because that’s totally how things work in reality.
You don’t have to listen to Fox News, just listen to what Obama has said.
A world leader? He resigned office in 1974..
I thought Sarah Palin proved that resignation was more than a state of mind.
Leader? From the air, it looked like a drunken walk, with a bunch of cheerleaders in tow… when it was all over, all of his “followers” were right where they were before, in a recession, less “bail out money” and trillions sent to win “the war on terror.”
Bush is a hero to no one.
It was only six years ago
No one certainly misunderestimated us back then! Mission accomplished!
This is like a delusional piece from RT. It’s actually kind of amusing to read, in a strange kinda way…
“… That hardly strikes us as fair to the Russian people … just as the tens of billions of dollars in crony capitalist subsidies doled out to favored American businesses hardly strikes us as fair to the U.S. taxpayer. …”
Great point. The 21st century Fascist leaning g’ments of most of the G20 are all about seizure of private properties, here, there and just about everywhere, whether through excessive taxation or outright seizures “for the public good”.
For the average middle class taxpayer, no matter which G20 country one may live in, the comparisons to the 1930’s conversion from democracies to “progressive” Fascism has become all too clear. And those few who speak out are branded as kooks and conspiracy wing nuts (as it was back then).
Consider: When did the middle class last get any increases in pay? Forbes Magazine says it was just before the big crash of 2008. And when have the g’ment workers been getting raises from COLAs and pension perks? Continuously since the 1990’s.
Russia was actually the only large country bucking this trend … until most recently. The Russians and several of the former Soviet states have 13% flat income tax and big and small corporations only have property taxes and those middle class folks are quite happy with Putin being aggressive toward a World Bank/EU/IMF/”progressive” controlled Ukraine.
Just saying’ …
Go ahead Putin. Cut off your nose to spite your face.
BTW Sic Willie, I know you are not religious but welcome to shmita. It started last night at sundown and the market goes down 1.5%. Plus, we have the biggest harvest ever which is what you would expect before Shmita.
AND WHAT CAUSED JAPAN TO ATTACK PEARL HARBOR?
There’s a great article by Linden la Rouche that proves it was about a challenge to Japan’s economic control over a segment of the sea food market.
Probably because they hated us for our freedoms and wanted to force Shintoism on us. We should preemptively strike them just in case.
And I thought it was the work of radicalized Buddhists. Shows how much misinformation there is out there.
There are no winners in a nuclear exchange. The entire planet loses with tens of millions vaporized. And those who are not incinerated, they die from their burns and radiation. Putin would eventually die, Al Sharpton would die, and Elvis would be resurrected.
Radioactive zombie Elvis? That’s kinda cool I guess. I’d imagine he’d look like a “glowing one” from Fallout 3.
If he came back, would he wear velvet?
“There are no winners in a nuclear exchange. ”
Wrong, cockroaches become the dominate species.
TEST EXPERIMENT– microwave a cockroach for 60 seconds and let us know what you discover…
I spent the better part of 20 minutes trying to find any info to prove Fits’ often asserted, “…. it was responding to a U.S.-led coup that ousted Ukraine’s democratically elected government” meme.
:
1991: Ukraine granted independence from dissolved Soviet Union
2004: Viktor Yushchenko, Presidential candidate poisoned with Dioxin
2004: Viktor Yanukovych (Russian puppet) elected President in run-off of two round system
2004: Orange Revolution protesting rigged run-off election
2004: Ukraine Supreme Court annuls first run-off
2005: Viktor Yushchenko elected President in court ordered 2nd run-off
2005: Orange Revolution ended
2005, 2007-10: Yulia Volodymyrivna Tymoshenko appointed Prime Minister, co-led Orange Revolution
2010: Viktor Yanukovych declared President in two-round run-off over Tymoshenko
2011: Tymoshenko found guilty of embezzlement, sentenced 7 years
2012: Yanukovych ponders Association Agreement with EU with release of Tymoshenko as one condition
2013: Last minute changes prompted by Russian pressure, EU deal not signed
2014: Ukrainians protest sudden reversal, 80 dead from Yanukovych snipers
2014: Yanukovych invites Russian troops into Crimea
2014: Yanukovych flees to Russia, found guilty of ordering sniper shootings
2014: Poroshenko elected President.
To Fits: Where is the CIA overthrow of elected government?
It was a typo – he meant Crimea.
Good time line & research. (One might also include the fist fights that breakout regularly in the Kiev parliament.)
But there is lots of pressure from Russia, obviously. And the covert influence of the IMF and the EU to get with their tax programs and bailout debt.
Missing is the effort by Putin for Russian oil & gas pipelines to Europe w/o EU taxes and tolls … And rebellious Russians in the Ukraine who want low (flat) income taxes, unimcumbered property rights, just and fair elections … like they have in Russia (or better).
The sooner the Donbass is free of the fascists the better. Its ironic that NATO is in Ukraine the day the EU agreement is signed and autonomy granted to the Donbass, this will be to protect Poroshenko from the fascist militia’s and Oligarch battalions. Yatsenyuk and Poroshenko have destroyed Ukraine for both the ethnic Russians and for the fascist protesters.
The US appointed prime minister of Ukraine, Arseny Yatsenyuk of the “Fatherland Party,” referred to Russians as “subhuman,” echoing the racist vitriol of Nazism Yatsenyuk and others in his regime subscribe to.
It was a violent, armed coup spearheaded by right sector militants that placed Yatsenyuk into power in the first place, along with the Neo-Nazi political front Svoboda, and paved way for fraudulent elections that predictably yielded a pro-US-EU client regime. From fabricating an “invasion,” to claims of “threatened” lives, to the labeling of Russians as “subhuman,”
Yatsenyuk has recited fully the script of Nazism used to justify its various historical crimes against humanity. Kiev’s forces in eastern Ukraine are not fighting an “invasion,” but constitute an invading force themselves, making incursions into eastern Ukraine and holding territory only through unmitigated brutality against local populations clearly collaborating with armed self-defense forces intent on resisting Kiev’s authority.
Russia annexed Crimea, backed the patsies… “separatists”, sent in spetsnaz, sent in Chechens, especially when the patsies were loosing, all for the multi-trillion dollar oil haul off the Crimean coast that Exxon discovered around January. That would have paid off Ukraine’s debt to Russia in 5 years and would have allowed them to prosper.
So, the Kremlin started this over oil. The Kremlin is continuing this aggression to secure a land bridge to Crimea. People that fail to at least take into account the oil piece of this puzzle are useful idiots. This pathetic writer is a Russophobe. Ukraine deserves better. Any nation that has to face the Russian war machine over natural resources don’t need a precedent set.
Gee.. US fracking technology .. huge industry.. price drops from 22 dollars to 2.. immense stores of liquid natural gas looking for a market….
Nah.. not related.
Yes, the U.S. ConocoPhillips fracking tech is planned for all of the Ukraine and newly “independent” Crimea. SecoState John Kerry’s nephew is on the scene = being recently nominated CEO of a major Russian owned pipeline and pumping contractor the the sweet spot for the jobs. (Al Gore claims desvesture of Occsidental Petrolium, but … Natural gas is green enough, isn’t it?)
Mmmmmmm … Maybe there is a CIA connection after all.
LOL……
Its the OIL……Its the OIL……..Its the OIL….!!!!
…and here we see this comment section is CLUEless to what actions should be taken..!
Dare to review what Ike did after WWII…?
SO….do right the ………opposite….!!!
KA- Boom…..!!!
Are you auditioning for a spot with RT? You sure are doing your best to regurgitate Putin’s propaganda. I’m surprised you did not include a gallery of him shirtless.
You seem unaware of the fact, or just serially dishonest about it because it undermines your USA provocateur theory, that the unrest in Ukraine was because of Putin’s machinations to control its president. So Russia was absolutely the aggressor in trying to make Ukraine a puppet state. Its fine if you want to make an isolationist argument that we should have just let him have his way in Ukraine (assuming that at some point Russia’s intrigues in that regard get acknowledged in Ron Paul fantasy land), but to claim that we are the aggressors, and that CIA support for those trying to resist Russian interference was sufficient justification for Putin to invade a sovereign country is just insane. It presupposes that Russia has a right to reconquer its empire. If that is your position, then say so. But quit massaging the facts.
And you commies called Obama a socialist.
Every republican shithead in the country has a boner for Putin cause he wears Ronnie Reagan perfume and struts around like W. I just love to see you jumpin on the bandwagon Fits. it makes the true face of ‘american conservatism’ pretty clear.
