IT’S “DANGEROUS …”
By FITSNews || What is “Big Data?” And is it “dangerous?”
Well we know what Big Data means from a technological standpoint – namely the assemblage/ analysis/ manipulation of large amounts of rapidly accumulating information in an effort to facilitate process optimization.
What are these optimized processes aimed at? Getting you to buy stuff … or in the case of the government, keeping tabs on all the stuff you buy (and everything else you do online).
But that’s another discussion for another time …
Thanks to the impeccable musical taste/ eternal youthfulness of our founding editor’s most platonic compadre, we now know Big Data is also a Brooklyn-based band … well, a “paranoid electronic music project.” And last month this project’s most popular single, “Dangerous” (a collaboration with indie rock band Joywave) went to No. 1 on the U.S. alternative charts (a.k.a. what all the cool kids are listening to).
We purchased the song on iTunes (which Apple and the government obviously knew we were going to do beforehand), but that wasn’t enough. Desperate to be cool, we had to watch the video, too.
The video, produced by Big Data’s Alan Wilkis and directed by Brandon LaGanke and John Carlucci, is clearly a parody … but it’s not for the faint of heart …
Seriously, the clip is exceedingly graphic and violent … so consider yourself warned.

Wow …
Um … yeah.
Our first response to the clip was probably a lot like yours … “WTF?”
But then all was revealed …
“The whole video is the two men and woman explaining the outlines of a shoe commercial to the people in the seats to get it approved,” explains YouTube user KipperTheArt. “We then see the product of the outlines during the video with the two women. The video is supposed to be pointlessly violent and highly sexual. This is satire. They’re addressing the use of violence and sexual imagery in media and marketing by exaggerating it in a satirical video. It’s not a random or nonsensical video.”
Ah, okay … so it’s brilliant.
Either way … we love the song. LOVE it. And we don’t say that about a lot of the stuff the “cool kids” are listening to.

I’m not sure if I should be appalled, amused, entertained, offended or just feel superior because our music (and videos) was tons better than this.

Mmmmmm that was my first reaction as well.
Why were those two girls running up to strangers and giving them head, but then the blood got thicker and the shoe maker office staff started participating in the orgy, eating the left overs and smelling old tennis shoes … The girl on the left was the one with the new pair, right?
Maybe I missed something in the translation from the original Farsi.
This will explain the video better than a YouTube user:
