Obamacare Architect: Let’s All Agree To Die At 75 Years

EZEKIEL EMANUEL: SOCIETY WOULD BE “BETTER OFF” IF EVERYBODY KICKED THE BUCKET EARLIER

Ezekiel Emanuel is the brother of Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel, the guy who famously said government should never let a crisis go to waste (especially when it comes to limiting our right to bear arms).

So you know what sort of stock he comes from …

Anyway … Ezekiel Emanuel is in the news this week for a column he ran last week in The Atlantic .

The otherwise forgettable piece made waves for its curious subtitle, which opined “that society and families — and you — will be better off if nature takes its course swiftly and promptly.”  According to Emanuel, scarce medical resources shouldn’t be wasted on those with a diminishing quality of life – and that seventy-five is “a pretty good age to aim to stop.”

“Doubtless, death is a loss,” Emanuel wrote.  “It deprives us of experiences and milestones, of time spent with our spouse and children. In short, it deprives us of all the things we value.  But here is a simple truth that many of us seem to resist: living too long is also a loss.”

Um … yeah.  To government bean-counters.

Why does anybody care what Ezekial Emanuel thinks?  Well for starters, he was one of the architects of U.S. president Barack Obama’s socialized medicine law.  You know, the one that’s wreaking havoc on the economy (and on your health care premiums).

EZEKIEL EMANUEL
EZEKIEL EMANUEL

His observation is also not unique among the professional left …

“This kind of philosophy has spread everywhere,” writes Michael Snyder.  “It is being taught at colleges and universities across the United States and it is even represented throughout the ranks of the Obama administration.”

Specifically, Snyder cites the work of Obama’s top science adviser John P. Holdren – who advocates for placing sterilization capsules under the skin of women after they’ve had two or three children.

He also points out the close connection between presumed 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and Margaret Sanger, the racist matriarch of Planned Parenthood whose mission in life was to control the population of America’s poor and “feeble-minded.”

“The most merciful thing that the large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it,” Sanger once famously said.

Nice … and Clinton accepted an award in this woman’s name back in 2009, praising her for “her courage, her tenacity, her vision.”

“Population control advocates such as Emanuel, Holdren and Clinton are fully convinced that they are doing the right thing,” Snyder wrote.  “They actually believe that the world will be a better place if less people are born and if the elderly do not live as long.”

There’s even a government bureaucracy dedicated to advancing the population control talking points … meaning you’re supporting this nonsense whether you agree with it or not.  And “Republicans” and Democrats have both supported that bureaucracy.

Look … the last time we checked America needed more (not fewer) taxpayers if its government hopes to pay down that nearly $18 trillion debt it’s built up.  But creating more taxpayers means breeding more productive citizens, not more dependents.  And America seems dead set on incentivizing dependency, not productivity.

Which is why it is dying a slow death … pardon the pun.

We don’t begrudge Ezekiel Emanuel for wanting to die at 75.  That’s his decision.  Nor do we begrudge families who choose to limit themselves to having 2.5 or fewer children – or couples who decide not to have a family at all.  Again, that’s their decision.

Our problem is when people attempt to impose their views on us … or who force us to subsidize their views with our money.

A growing American population could – and should be – a wonderful thing.  A necessary thing, even.  The fact the left views it as a burden should tell you all you need to know about their view of our most fundamental liberty.

I agree w/ him. Spending year after year drooling in a nursing home, unable to wipe your own ass, is no way to live. Just because science can keep someone alive doesn’t mean it should.

How long before you reach the drooling nursing home stage? Now be real about and answer the question.

Yes some of us will sacrifice our own comfort for the special needs of other, my family has already done that for my mother, God rest her soul. When my 94 year old father needs the help we will be there for him also, we will not put him in a nursing home.

Save your tears for yourself, sounds like you’ll need them.

I kept mom as long as I could. I finally decided that I could no longer responsibly provide and care simultaneously for an Alzheimer patient prone to UTI. One day, she was suspiciously quiet, and I found she had a stroke, and fallen on a table, breaking her wrist. She quietly went back to bed and covered her arm. I only discovered it by luck. Shortly after that, I got married, and my wife helped care for her until it overcame her too. A larger family might have made it possible, but we finally had to accept she needed 24/7 professional care. We spent our time after that, making sure they were doing their job.

The cost of assisted living and finally hospice, in my home, both in dollars and effort is too much for an orphaned son.

I only cry when the hero dies if the lights are out. I leave the drama queen stuff to people who think their shit doesn’t stink.

There’s always two sides to every story.

Republicans make a good living on the other story.

Sounds like you were a good son, may your mother rest in peace.

You know, I get the troll stuff. I really do.

Sometimes a well timed, inflammatory statement jolts people from their mental stupefaction and actually serves a purpose. It opens up new avenues of thought, etc.

In your case though, your comments serve to inflame for no such noble purpose. You are in effect, the actual fecal matter of trolldom.

It’s a lowly spot for sure, but even within that family your particular brand of feces is that of a carnivore, completely unsuitable for even a garden. In essence, only good for marking territory. Your motto:

“This is my area, because I both shit and eat here.”

euwe max September 25, 2014 at 2:05 am

It can be funny if done right… and like you said, shock can be positive.

I agree, and I’m guilty. I focus on purposeful trolling.

Which is an irony, because I’m agnostic….lol

which explains the “it just works” perspective on “non aggression” and “the free market.” You’re a strange and colorful bird, roosting with the brutish vultures in the libertarian tree… your optimism and upbeat outlook, bordering on being naive seems… out of place. :)

Yep! September 25, 2014 at 9:47 am

Eternal hope can be naive, but it’s better than the alternative. That’s why I never criticizer Believers, even if my rationality says otherwise.

Man’s progression has always been rooted in hope though, we just never know when it’s irrational generally speaking.

Also, I have to say at least my “it just works” philo has yet to be fully tested…we all know that government for the most part doesn’t work.

:)

euwe max September 25, 2014 at 10:01 am

by that reasoning we should try Christianity – it hasn’t been fully tested either. :)

but to be fair, it’s had more public attempts.

Yep! September 25, 2014 at 10:02 am

euwe max September 25, 2014 at 12:18 pm

I know exactly what you mean.

euwe max September 25, 2014 at 1:27 am

…and there’s always the pragmatic Republican point of view… also known as: “it is what it is.”

You’re an amateur. Now TiG and Celt.. *they* knew how to gather death threats, and burn down a forum! TiG owned a liquor store, and to pass the time, hacked forum HTML pages just so he could post obscenities uncensored, and edit his own messages to create threads that were masterpieces of personal insult.

Sometimes he’d go through more than 100 handles and IP addresses in a single day. The ABC news forum had to go lights out more than once because of his mischief…

TiG stands for “Texas is Great.” He found “backboards,” abandoned forums without any members, boards only used by ABC employees, even a board used by their system operators.. and used them as base camps to test out scripts, create new handles, and communicate with other board raiders and naer-do-wells.

I guess you could say he took being a troll to an art form, and became a true master of it. In the fledgling internet world of snarling, simple-minded, pre-teen, semi-literate sociopaths with cognitive disabilities and a grudge against mommy, he was a god.

I’ve seen computer programs with more originality than you’ve shown so far.

Your not talking about people who are kept alive by science and artificial means, the example your citing is of people who can’t perform activities of daily living, but don’t need – say an atrificial lung to breath. By your analysis infants who can’t feed themselves or wipe their own asses should be left to die also. This would include a lot of war vets, and other mentally and on Cally disable…

Growing population a good thing? Err, okay, ask how China or India feels about that…

All this fearmongering about soshulist gubmint healthcare is funny considering the ACA not only leaves the keys in the hands of for profit private industries, but further entrenches the insurance/employer middlemen. We aren’t even remotely close to actual government-run healthcare, but if you listen to the GOP or the lolbertarians, our system makes the NHS look like right wing extremism.

The point of healthcare is to serve a need of the general populace. Since healthcare can literally be a bottomless well you can throw cash into, obviously at some point restraint has to be shown lest we all go bankrupt. The right absolutely gets this, it is why they justify letting the poors rot on the street (this notion got L. Ron Paul an applause), why they are fine with lifetime maximums on policies, why insurance companies are absolutely justified to not cover some things, etc. they don’t perceive themselves as potential victims of this, so whatever, right?

I don’t think “restraint” should mean “kill old people,” but if that is what the right wants to equate this discussion to, why bother discussing any of this at all? Just go back to offing or bankrupting the serfs for having the audacity to get sick or injured. “As long as it ain’t my ass, why should I care?!”

(And of course, don’t forget the calls by some on the right that people should be expected to work into their 70s and 80s.)

Just pull the transparent bag over your head, attach the gun, set the timer, and settle down in the recliner for the evening news.

From the perspective of a 40 something type, 75 is really old. However when he gets closer to it he will “realize the value of senior citizens”. That is unless he hiccups and the death panels say he isn’t worth caring for anymore.

Liberals love death as they are dead inside and have no soul. Former Surgeon General C. Everette Koop predicted this “slippery slope” of devaluing the sanctity of life. Euthenasia and the death panels are just an extention of abortion that has killed over 50 million children since Roe V. Wade.

This is America (USA). Those who agree with Ezekiel Emanuel are entitled to follow his convenient invitation. The majority of us, however, under the Bill of Rights, are entitled to maintain our lives as granted by higher authority than central government.

Die at 75 and you can no longer vote, a fact which curiously suits those who want to cede U.S. sovereignty amd our exceptional Constitution to an even larger central authority — world government à la the fantastically corrupt and incompetent U.N.
