TIGER DEFENSIVE LINEMAN SAYS HE’S A “BETTER PLAYER” THAN JADEVEON CLOWNEY
Clemson University’s Vic Beasley is one helluva football player. The 6-foot-2, 235-pound defensive end from Adairsville, Georgia was a consensus All-American in 2013 after recording 13 sacks and 23 tackles for losses for the No. 7/8 team in the nation.
Projected as a mid-first round draft pick in the 2015 NFL draft, Beasley is the heart and soul of the Clemson defense – an explosive force off of the line of scrimmage who has a bright future ahead of him as a speed rusher in the National Football League.
But is Beasley better than former University of South Carolina star Jadeveon Clowney?
He apparently thinks so …
“I feel like I’m the better player,” Beasley told Sports Illustrated .
Wait … what?
We understand the importance of having confidence in one’s abilities … but there’s a difference between confidence and cluelessness. And Vic Beasley just cleared it by a country mile.
Clowney is bigger, faster, stronger and more explosive off the line than Beasley. The unanimous 2012 All-American is a once in a lifetime talent, whereas players of Beasley’s caliber can be counted on to come along every year.
That’s why there was no question about Clowney’s selection as the No. 1 overall pick this year, while Beasley was projected as a second round draft choice (hence his decision to return to Clemson for his senior season).
Don’t get us wrong, Beasley is a great player … but self-aggrandizing comparisons like this one make him look silly (especially after Georgia’s offense ran all over Clemson in the fourth quarter of their season-opener two weeks ago).
Clowney, incidentally, underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee last week after suffering a torn meniscus during his NFL debut on September 7. He is expected to miss 4-6 weeks due to the injury.
Beasley’s Tigers take on the No. 1 Florida State Seminoles in Tallahassee, Florida on Saturday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. EDT with ABC televising the game nationally.
RAPID REACTION
@fitsnews Clowney certainly the more freakish athlete. The better player? Maybe, maybe not. Check in 5 yrs. Vic's extra 30 IQ pts may help.

@wmmci @fitsnews hahahaha. Everything about clemson gotta be compared to big brother. Clowney is better. No doubt.

Everybody up there is delusional.
I’m surprised JD & Chad didn’t teach you better, boy. You from Lynchburg, ain’t you?
Beasley is a good football player, but he should realize that some of his impressive statistics are the result of playing in a very weak ACC. He might find the SEC grind a bit more challenging. Still like his outlook, though.
The real USC says hi.
“B+” for the balls like church bells; “D” on the player analysis / self-awareness piece.
The NFL is shying away more and more from players w/ character issues. It’s not very smart to make yourself look bad, and that is what Vic is doing. His coach needs to step in and help the kid handle his business. He’s a good player, but there are several good ones right behind him, too.
Being overly confident is not a character issue. If it is then they’ll need to rid most NFL teams of their star players.
A character issue is being accused/charged/convicted with theft, drugs, assault, etc.
Being self-centered, self-absorbed and delusional about your talents, certainly DOES speak to character.
Modesty, generosity, magnanimity and grace speak well of one’s character.
Sadly: People like Vic are being told by liberals and the media that being a taker, and self-serving is a virtue, if you are on the left. It is why we have so many people of poor character in positions of power…and idiots (democrats) keep voting for them…
“Being self-centered, self-absorbed and delusional about your talent, certainly DOES speak to character.”
I couldn’t have said it any better!
So you are saying Beartrkkr is stupid and wrong?…
Does everythng go over your head?
If either one of had bothered to read the article you would see his questionable character traits such as already earning his degree as the first college grad in his family, as well as playing piano at his church back home when he gets the chance. He at least tries to explain why he thinks he’s a better player such as learning to drop into coverage and having a quicker first step. He was certainly more productive last year.
Sounds like a real thug.
If you knew Vic, not what the hack journalists write, you would know that he is not self-centered, nor self-absorbed, and far from delusional. To call Democrats “idiots” speaks volumes about your character, son.
Taters, their what’s for dinner six years running!
GOOD LORD…6-foot- and weighs 2,235-pounds ??? DAMN!
Vic Beasley is not made out of eggshells and he actually plays football instead of sitting out on the sidelines from being injured all the time. By the mere fact he plays more minutes…he is the better player.
I suspect the Texans are already regretting signing on Clowney who will spend most of his time in the NFL on injured reserve.
Thanks for that in-depth analysis. While I shall not attempt to infuse my fandom (or lack thereof), I shall proceed to disect your pathetic and illogical analysis.
“made out of eggshells” — because lots of professional athletes are made out of eggshells?
“actually plays football” — because J. Clowney did not play football? Was he in the stands? Or cheerleading?
“from being injured all the time” — how does that work? I must have missed that class on how to write so emphatically in the passive voice…yet “be” so emphatic.
“by the mere fact he plays more minutes…he is the better player.”— I heard there was a fella from the local Pop Warner league that played “a whole bunch of” minutes. Let me tell ya, this guy played “lots of minutes.” He must be really good. Super good, even.
“I suspect the Texans are already regretting…” — I suspect that I’ll keep my commentary to law and business. These are the things that I’m “good at.” Feel free to voice your [professional?] opinion.
All the best!
Look, it’s true. There were some very educated ramblings and grumblings coming out last year since the UNC game talking about how J.C. was saving himself for the NFL as he was out of shape and not wanting to get hurt.
Since he has been drafted here’s what has happened:
On June 6, 2014, Clowney signed a 4-year deal worth $22.272 million that
featured a 14.518 million signing bonus. On June 12, 2014, Clowney
underwent a sports hernia surgery. He claimed that he had the hernia
during his entire junior year at college.
Clowney played his first regular season game on September 7, 2014 during Week 1 against the Washington Redskins,
making one tackle for a loss but left the game in the 2nd quarter due
to a knee injury. It was later revealed that Clowney had a torn
meniscus.[58] He underwent surgery to repair the meniscus on September 8, 2014 and recovery time required 4 to 6 weeks.
So the Texans have gotten all of 1 full quarter of play out of Clowney and he’s out for at least a month and a half.
If you are a 5 star recruit and you are injured and sitting on the bench, you are not doing anything for the team and you are no threat to the other team.
The sad thing is that Lattimore seems far more injury-prone than Clowney, but Clemson fans are a bit respectful to him because he’s a real classy, down to earth guy. For whatever reason, though, there sure is a lot of hate towards Clowney.
The best thing is to let Clowney’s game speak for itself. The only one that can make or break his career is him.
I wish most every athlete the best myself, even the Clemson ones. I’m happy for Spiller and hope for the best for Watkins too. That’s why I don’t get all this Clowney hate. Has he been hyped up? Sure he has. Is that hype justified? Some days it is, some days it isn’t, but either way, he’s still a great athlete.
By the mere fact he plays more minutes…he is the better player.
Quantity over quality, huh?
Don’t worry, Gamecocks have both of those over Clemson.
Thanks Coach Fox now go find Dauber and make sure he is not eating again.
I’m curious, most Climpsun grads I know are pretty into the southern landed class thing, love shooting animals, very politically conservative, hate paying taxes, despise Hillary and all the other Clintons, and, love what Rush has to say. What’s your deal?
I meant to say they despise Barack and the other Obamas too, most of all!
Not all tigers are painted with the same stripes
Well he has played two games in a row without taking himself out for one reason or another.
I see you up voted your own comment again
Oh. He played against Georgia?
That’s pretty funny. Someone remind Vic that Clowney holds the sack record in his stadium……….and he only played there ONCE.
I hear he holds the record for number of times a player has decided during warmups to hold himself out of a game under Coach Slurrier.
Wow, its funny how jealous you are of Clowney. Just the mention of his name and you have to try to make jokes. And here you always try to claim you don’t care. The real joke here is you, and how much Your mom used to gobble peckers down her throat. I guess that makes her a in the dirt pecker lover huh?
Bigger, faster, and stronger don’t mean much if you’re made of glass.
He is smoking what ever Sammy Watkins still had stashed up there
Who’s Vic Beasley?
I know Clowney sir, and you Vic Beasley are no Clowney
I agree
One is a good player, the other, a great player. The point is that a good player lining up almost every play limits the Offensive calls to avoid the good player’s skill. A great player on the bench doesn’t influence the Offense at all.
Here are Jadeveon Clowney’s career stats, which he accumulated playing in 36 games:
85 solo tackles, 45 assists, 130 total tackles, 47.0 tackles for loss, 24.0 sacks
And here are Vic Beasley’s career stats, after the first 37 games of his career:
47 solo tackles, 15 assists, 62 total tackles, 31.0 tackles for loss, 23.0 sacks
So is Beasley ahead of Clowney in anything? Only someone stupid would say yes, so I guess we know what type of IQ Beasley has
Don’t forget, idiots like Squishy say he only played portions of those games, so according to their logic Beasley in his 37 games also had many more minutes in which to try to get his stats better, but couldn’t. So Beasley is less than half as good as Clowney if you do the math
You think the Texans are rethinking their draft selection? Their star pick is costing them a million dollars per down played so far this season. I wouldn’t be surprised if the #1 high school player who turned into the #1 NFL drafted player turns in to the #1 NFL bust of all time. The way he’s going that’s where he’s headed. He’s been injured more days since being drafted than he has been healthy.
I guess he is just too busy going after that in the dirt pecker lover known as your mamma
Vic is better then that dread having thug Clwoney. Dabo did’nt want the Clown or his thug possy from Rock fucking Hill neither.
Cry Saturday night coots when we whip FSUS ass as usual! Hahaha at the coots!
Yabba Dabba Doodoo Dabo gun na luz to dem ijuins
Hey, there Taters have a fighting chance! Winston just got suspended for the 1st half of the Clemson game.
Vic Beasley is an awesome young man who aspires to a life of science after
football. That he happens to be a great ball player is a bonus. The media can
take anyone’s words and twist them until they make a sorry headline. Some
“journalists” will back anyone into a corner and pull words out him
just to get something to print. One thing is certain-Beasley plays football 100
times better than that hack “writer,” or blogger-or whatever he
considers himself to be-actually does. Beasley says he feels he is the better
player. You cannot argue with how someone feels. Vic is a super down-to-earth
guy; loves his family; a man of faith, and is a outstanding competitor.
To call him delusional is a stupid slur written by a stupid person who can’t
write well enough to get a significant story published.
