ANN TIMBERLAKE IS HURTING HER OWN MOVEMENT …
For years, Ann Timberlake has been the face of the “green” movement in South Carolina. The executive director of the Conservation Voters of South Carolina (CVSC), Timberlake has wielded immense influence at the S.C. State House – driving legislation and deciding which lawmakers receive the political and financial support of the broader environmental community.
“She’s one of the few up there whose bite matches her bark,” one veteran State House lobbyist told FITS.
But Timberlake’s sway may be fading under the capital dome in Columbia, S.C. – within her own movement and certainly among state lawmakers.
Earlier this year, former S.C. Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) board chairman Mike McShane returned an honor he received from the organization – the 2012 “Green Tie” award – reportedly in protest of Timberlake’s increasingly erratic advocacy.
The “Green Tie” is presented annually by CVSC to conservation activists who excel in the public policy arena.
More recently, multiple lawmakers tell FITS Timberlake threatened a pair of influential members of the S.C. House ways and means committee, which drafts the state’s annual $25 billion (and climbing) budget.
Did her threat work?
No …
In fact we’re told both lawmakers reached out to other leaders in the conservation movement urging them to rein in Timberlake – or risk losing money for specific projects.
“She’s costing her people millions of dollars a year,” one lawmaker told FITS.
Frankly, we view the entire conservation movement as one big scam – in which special interests manipulate their relationships with powerful lobbyists and legislators to get specific projects funded under the guise of “eco-friendliness.”
With taxpayers picking up the bill …
Needless to say we’ll be keeping an eye on Timberlake, whose group increasingly strikes us as part of the problem – not the solution – when it comes to a truly greener Palmetto State.

Will, what happened to this article about your boy T-Rav?

That’s a good question. How can he have a “media offensive” when his own, paid, very offensive media withdraws his coverage?
DHEC, DNR, and the legislature flimflammed her completely on the shabby new law on pumping water out of our rivers.
“Frankly we view the conservation movement as one big scam..”
Personally, I’d much rather my tax dollars go toward preserving the environment than many of the other programs it funds.
I wish you’d list some of these “special interests” who are supposedly manipulating the process for their own gain.
It’s about time legislators kicked these environmental wackos to the curb and decided issues based on sound business practices. The environmental movement as a whole is nothing more than a group dedicated to holding back progress at every turn. I have long thought they were paid for by those who would continue the status quo in oil, gas, and energy as a whole. The best interests of the country should be taken ahead of those dedicated to US becoming the cleanest, greenist third world country on the planet. I would be glad to personally provide the chain and lock for the doors to the EPA.
SC, you are more blessed than you know. As a California resident I have personally witnessed the environmental movement leverage a small useless fish known as the Delta Smelt to deprive and impoverish farmers in one of the nations largest food producing regions in the world, the San Joaquin Valley. The environmentalist agenda is diabolical as they use any opportunity to inflict damage on humanity. Ann Timberlake (and those of her ilk) is an unmistakable enemy of humanity. Pray her eyes are opened so she learns to worship the creator, not His creation.
