U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford – who once famously boasted about moving his favored legislation to “the 99-yard line” – was in attendance at the University of South Carolina football team’s thrilling 38-35 win over Georgia on Saturday night.
The former two-term South Carolina governor was spotted by photographer Travis Bell while talking on his cell phone beneath the stands at Williams-Brice Stadium.
No word yet on who the “Luv Gov” was talking to … although we have an idea (wink).
Sanford’s appearance at the game came 24 hours after he dropped a bombshell on social media – a long and rambling message in which he announced the end of his two-year engagement to former lover Maria Belen Chapur.
Sanford’s message – which recalled previous instances of over-sharing – ostensibly came in response to his ex-wife Jenny Sanford’s latest efforts to make his life miserable.
Chapur told The New York Times that Sanford’s announcement caught her off guard.
We’re just glad Sanford made it to this game. His previous efforts to score tickets haven’t been so successful.

I agree. Once he is through the court date, I can see one scenario with him reconciling with Chapur and then having a quickie and CHEAP elopement to shut her up. Hysterically funny that he gives her the kiss-off after the romantic and expensive honeymoon in Paris. A week of wonderful honeymoon style vacation, he announces the break-up through Facebook immediately after the trip, she tells NY Times that the announcement took her by surprise (maybe it did even tho she wanted him to go public with the news) and she gives an interview to a US newspapers rather than Buenos Aries newspaper. Could all this be a distraction of what’s coming tomorrow at the court hearing?
Another question: (24 months=2016 is the election year for SC1 congressman and US Senator) Is he aiming for the higher position and feels that Belen would be detrimental to his being elected?
Perhaps Sanford was in Paris with Chapur when news of the most recent legal complaint hit the airwaves? It seems they gave each other ultimatums about wedding plans while in France. Narcissists don’t like to be pushed around and are passive aggressive. Could that queer, staged engagement in 2012 been just another ploy to placate Chapur and salvage credibility so he could re-enter politics? Chapur seems to think so on some level now (as a lot of people did at the time). Oddly, Sanford has used his conflicts with Jenny to manipulate Chapur. NPDs can be masters of “triangulation.” With the back drop of the recent legal filing and perhaps more damaging news, he had his excuse to decamp. It also seems like Chapur isn’t giving Sanford a pass but they both left the door open for resurrecting their relationship.

The timing of everything from the rambling FB message blaming the ex wife to the supposed reclusive mistress surprise media interview suggesting it’s all over after spending a Paris honeymoon sounds suspicious to me.
