Hi idcydm! I agree with you in principle but in reality, people like Graham and McCain will cause this country far more harm than they will do it good. These are the kind of people who have sought to get our brave fighting men and women into conflict after conflict, since the end of WWII, but will not allow our men and women to actually win these conflicts.
What good does it do our country to get thousands of good men and women maimed, psychologically destroyed, and killed, with no intent of us winning these conflicts?
Screwing with Russia over what some (myself included) perceive to be an internal affair with an old Soviet Bloc state and risking nuclear exchange seems to not be the best and brightest course of action.
I believe you know as well as I do that whatever Obama does, it will be for show at very best, and not in the interest of this country.
McCain and Lindsey hob-knobing and schmoozing with Al Qaida and ISIS does little to instill confidence in me. There is more than a little rumor floating around that ISIS may be something we (the US) have invented or are at least feeding. We have many evil people in our government, people who I honestly believe are as much or more of a threat to this nation than some of our “enemies” overseas.

I found Lindsey’s comments about “bigots” while addressing his new core-constituency (La Raza) to be highly offensive. I would rather trust someone who has been caught, tried, convicted, and served his time than someone who keeps endlessly getting away with shit that borders on treason (if not actually treason).

Yeah, yeah I can list Graham’s foibles that offend me all day long – just don’t think a convicted drug dealer or a guy who has voted for every tax increase he’s had a chance to vote for and even sponsored a few of them is the right person for the job.
I can respect your opinions. Just don’t agree when it comes to affording Graham another term. 12 years is long enough. And he really has not done much to help South Carolina in the period. But I am certain you will disagree with my assertion. However, that does not bother me in the least.
As to Ravenel’s drug conviction, he was punished – just like thousands were during the prohibition era when booze was illegal. But with further respect to Graham and his yet to be exposed crimes, that’s being held in abeyance for now.
Lastly, with over a 1000 new laws on the books than we had 3 years ago, I am certain there are a few you have broken in your life; but never caught and prosecuted. Surely you are not perfect, Colonel.

Have I ever broken the law – sure, I speed, have rolled through a stop sign or two and I’m sure I have broken others either through intent or ignorance.
Did I ever get elected to public office and then caught with just shy of 500 grams of coke? Nope, not once, in fact, I have studiously avoided all illegal drugs and use alcohol with great moderation.
Have I ever been convicted of drunk driving – nope, got charged once at age 18. Blew a 0.05 in Winder “Speed Trap of the South” Georgia and the judge threw it out – I still have the ticket and can still remember the hurt look in my parents eyes when they found out. I will not drive a car if I’ve had more than one beer – but I’ve had a fairly high clearance for 30 years and mis-behavior and clearances don’t go together.
Have I any children – yes, and I’m married to their mother and have been for 23 years – the oldest is 18.
Have I ever violated federal election law? No, in fact I quit working for a campaign when the pol did something I thought was unethical.
I’d love to know about these crimes Graham is alleged to have committed.

We had the chance in the primary but there were too many people running. Tea Party should have mounted a campaign and backed one candidate. Graham certainly was vulnerable. Now we don’t have any real choices.
