… HE’S GOT PLENTY OF TIME FOR THE D.C. MEDIA ELITE

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham has yet to respond to a July challenge from independent conservative Thomas Ravenel to join him in a series of citizen-led town hall meetings across the state.

In fact Ravenel has taken to challenging Graham’s “bestie” in the U.S. Senate, John McCain, as a substitute.

Graham clearly has no time to take questions from South Carolina voters (well, unless it’s a hand-picked crowd), but he’s evidently got plenty of time for the Washington, D.C. legacy media.

According to data collected by American University, Graham has made eighty-five appearances on Washington’s Sunday morning talk shows (“Meet the Press,” “Face the Nation,” “State of the Union,” “Fox News Sunday” and “This Week”) since 2009.  The only politician who has appeared on the shows more frequently?

John McCain …

Graham is a creature of Washington, people … a guy who has become totally disconnected from the people he’s supposed to represent (and their best interests).

Graham is a shameless warmonger.  And special interest whore.  And fiscal liberal. And Barack Obama abettor.  And neo-fascist.  And friend of terrorists.  And thief of your liberty.  And fraud.  And hypocrite.

Are those really attributes South Carolinians want?

“At a time when the people of this country need a choice, not an echo – Lindsey Graham is living in the Washington echo chamber,” Ravenel said.

We agree …

If Graham took Ravenel seriously, I would doubt his ability to serve as a United States Senator.

Excellent point. Why would he take the candidacy of a convicted drug dealer, drunken drive, philandering baby daddy, FEC rule violator and”reality TV star” seriously – nobody else is, except maybe Will.

So you are saying I should choose the convicted drug dealer who knocked up a girl less than half his age, won’t marry her, and who said he hates the US so much he wants to renounce his citizenship and move to another country.

I forget, did Ravenel tell people he was a drug dealer when he was running for Treasure? If not doesn’t that make him a fraud? Did he support repealing drug laws when he was running for office and dealing drugs? Has he come out in support of legalizing cocaine? Does that make him a hypocrite? Is it ok to be a friend to the Drug Cartels as long as they limit their acts of terror to Mexico?

Much like when I was in the 82nd many years ago, and would be somewhere away from Bragg in Class A’s for some reason. Some clown would see the well-known patch and say, “Hey- my cousin Joe Blow is in that unit. You know him, right?” When I invariably did not, they would become incredulous and ask me if I was really in the 82nd. “How can you not know him? White guy, 22 years old, very short brown hair?”

The Colonel September 6, 2014 at 11:12 pm

What’s a division got these days, 15,000 or Soldiers and you don’t know his cousin!?!

Mike at the Beach September 6, 2014 at 11:32 pm

Based upon my quasi-ad hoc semi-official personal research conducted primarily in dive bars and cocktail parties over the past 25 years, I have concluded that there are more than 121,652,198 veterans of Army SF, Naval Special Warfare, and the CIA’s special activities and paramilitary units telling tales of their exploits to chubby girls across the US. My research also showed that when you whip out the coin and ask what specific shop they were in and whether they remember ol’ so-and-so the SGM there, they suddenly take ill and have to depart rapidly.

Sir, with all due respect, no rational political advisor would EVER advise a candidate in LG’s position to debate a flake candidate of TR’s ilk. That’s just a cold, hard political fact (look around the interwebs and you’ll find innumerable examples of what I’m talking about). There’s no moral or religious canon that provides all candidates the right to a head-to-head debate. The First Amendment and the FEC ensure that candidates get to fight it out fair and square. The “constituents” you referenced had a primo opportunity to knock LG off, and they failed miserably. That’s called the “will of the people,” which sometimes sucks when we’re on the losing side. If those same constituents get ticked off enough about the lack of debates, they have yet another chance to boot LG in November and Hutto will be our guy in the Senate. That won’t happen, though, because only a small minority are worked up about it. I know some folks have a borderline obsessive hate for LG, and we all dislike some of his votes, but no candidate is perfect. The Tea Party, TR, and some other assorted clowns tried their damnedest to kick LG to the curb at any cost (to include electing an Obama-supportive Dem). That’s simply not smart ball. TR is not our guy, and I think (based solely on my interpretation of your posts here over the past year or so) that you are smart enough to know this is the case. Maybe if a real guy had stepped, who knows? A real guy didn’t step up, though. Only TR.

Graham will , most likely, go back in with low 50’s% of the vote. It just makes me sick to see our great state re elect such a sorry excuse for a senator. I never have been able to figure how we always have one very good senator (Thermond, Demint, Scott) and at the same time have the likes of Hollings and Graham. From a strictly political point though, it would be easier to replace a one term Dim senator than a three term RINO. We need as many Republican senators this time as possible but they really need to be more than just a (R). I will continue to support T Rav simply because I cannot vote for Graham—I have to look at myself in the mirror.

A little mid-grade whining from HuffPo (!) and series of articles and pieces detailing the long-emerging trend of incumbents blowing off challenger debates (*especially* fringe candidates like TR). Only at the Presidential level does any real, impactful stigma still exist attendant to skipping debates. It cuts across racial lines, political party lines, and money lines. A message to Sen. Graham written by Stan Klos, Phd. http://www.historic.us

If you want a real solution it begins with enacting the 1st Amendment to the 1789 Bill of Rights.
Dear Honorable Representative and US Senator,
70 percent of your time is spent fundraising and campaigning. Meanwhile, 12,000 staffers and 11,000 lobbyists wield undue influence and conduct the business of the House of Representatives. Why? Because the House and Senate Conference Committee working out the Bill of Rights on September 28th, 1789, made a single word blooper in formulating the original 1st Amendment .

Please change the word “more” back to “less” in the original first amendment to the Bill of Rights, which limited Congressional Districts to 50,000 citizens. This amendment was deemed most essential. It was placed in the 1st position and passed by a Congress consisting of Two Future US Presidents, Three former Presidents of Congress, Nine declaration of Independence signers, four Articles of Confederation signers, and 15 US Constitution Signers. Moreover President George Washington, Chief Justice John Jay, Secretary of State and Declaration of Independence author Thomas Jefferson, Secretary of the Treasury and US constitution signer Alexander Hamilton, Attorney General and US constitution framer Edmund Randolph, and Secretary of War Henry Knox all worked together behind the scenes to constitutionally cap, in this 1st Amendment , Congressional Districts at 50,000. In their debates and letters it was clear these founders wanted, with the passage of the 1st Amendment, for the House to remain answerable to people through the mechanism of small districts devoid of any undue influence by special interests who might fund Congressional Campaigns.
Unfortunately, due to a clerical error, “less” than 50,000 was changed to “more,” and the amendment was never ratified.

Please, just change the word MORE back to the word LESS in this Amendment, and send it to the States for ratification. The time has come to return to the people a new House that will consist of 6300 elected Representatives from all walks of life throughout the United States. This diverse group, truly representative of their constituents, will revitalize the House with the synergy of their ideas and ignite the active participation of “We the People” in congressional legislation. Please return campaigns to neighbors calling on neighbors with grass roots budgets that do not require the capital and voter influence of Lobbyists to win a seat in Congress. Please remove the campaign burden of members spending millions of dollars and 70% of their time to persuade 726,000 gerrymandered constituents to elect them every two years.

Please Honorable Representative, get your Senators on board to return the House to the people. Change the word MORE back LESS in the 1789 Bill of Rights 1st Amendment and send it to the States for ratification. It’s what the framers intended.

Thank you

Graham is very good communicating to low-information Republicans. He will say one thing to the Republicans at the conferences and the dinners playing to his conservative base but behind the scenes he plots with Democrats to pass liberal legislation.
Conservative Talk show host, Mark Levin blasted South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham for his moderate positions and his betrayal of the constitutional conservative principles of the Republican Party, calling him the Sen. Arlen Specter of the South.

Graham has been very vocal in his criticism of the South Carolina GOP for defending the Republican platform: In October of 2009, Graham was publicly quoted making derogatory statements about the South Carolina Republican Party.

In March 2009, Graham suggested that consideration should be given to nationalizing the American banking system. This was just after the 2008 economic crisis, and though it was never written into a bill and voted on, the statement, itself shows a shocking amount of irresponsibility and ignorance on Graham’s part. It highlights just how little Graham can be trusted on economic issues.

In May 2005, Graham played a leading role in the infamous “Gang of 14,” which voted with Democrats to prevent Republicans from overriding Democrat blockage of Republican judicial nominees. Just a year later, he opposed James Haynes, a South Carolina native and conservative lawyer nominated by President George W. Bush for the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. This blocked Haynes’ nomination from receiving a full vote in the Senate. Graham said this was because he disagreed with Haynes’ involvement in enhanced interrogation techniques for enemy combatants, like Arab terrorist who want to kill Americans.

While he was actively destructive toward conservative nominees, Graham has repeatedly helped Obama confirm radical nominees. In August of 2009, DeMint joined 30 fellow Republicans to vote against the confirmation of Sonia Sotomayor, a famously liberal, activist justice, to the Supreme Court, while Graham joined the Democrats and voted for it. Again, in July 2010, on the issue of confirming Elena Kagan, another noted liberal, to the Supreme Court, DeMint joined fellow Republicans to vote against that nomination, while Graham joined the Democrats.

Graham has also supported excessive foreign aid to other countries, including state sponsors of terrorism.

In August 2007 in response to a Democratic effort to enact legislation granting amnesty to illegal aliens, DeMint was a leader in opposition, while Graham supported the bill even though it did not prevent new illegal immigration or provide for any sort of border security. Graham not only voted for the bill, he actually thanked Ted Kennedy for his work on it and stated that he was “going to tell the bigots to shut up” during one of his speeches before a packed room of criminal illegal aliens and members of LaRaza.

In June 2013, Graham acted as part of the infamous “Gang of 8,” and helped to pen an immigration bill that provides effective amnesty to illegal aliens without taking action to close the border first, and which allows repeated felons to not only become citizens, but have their records wiped clean. The bill was seen as a destructive one even for those who support the idea of amnesty for illegal aliens. Graham joined the Democrats in invoking cloture and supporting the bill while Senator Tim Scott (DeMint’s replacement) voted in opposition.
Graham supports Obama using executive action to grant amnesty to at least 6 million criminal illegal aliens.

Yup, surely SC can find a REAL conservative, not a RINO. I’d sure take Jim DeMint back if I could get him.

Over a 100 grassroots conservative activists are coming together again for a strategy meeting to replace Graham.

Get This. Graham condones illegals crossing the border from Mexico, right? Graham condones amnesty of 6 million plus, right? Throw this in the skanks face … sink him like Cantor was sunk. South Carolina is very “anti-illegal.” >>>>> NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — The National Council of Border Patrol Agents (NBPC) is responding to the increasing assaults against the agents who protect our border with the production of a documentary movie that tells their story. While violent assaults frequently leave agents injured and even hospitalized, U.S. Attorneys often fail to prosecute the illegal aliens who commit the assaults.

Is Thomas Ravanel eligible to vote or is he precluded as a convicted felon?
