… HE’S GOT PLENTY OF TIME FOR THE D.C. MEDIA ELITE
U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham has yet to respond to a July challenge from independent conservative Thomas Ravenel to join him in a series of citizen-led town hall meetings across the state.
In fact Ravenel has taken to challenging Graham’s “bestie” in the U.S. Senate, John McCain, as a substitute.
Graham clearly has no time to take questions from South Carolina voters (well, unless it’s a hand-picked crowd), but he’s evidently got plenty of time for the Washington, D.C. legacy media.
According to data collected by American University, Graham has made eighty-five appearances on Washington’s Sunday morning talk shows (“Meet the Press,” “Face the Nation,” “State of the Union,” “Fox News Sunday” and “This Week”) since 2009. The only politician who has appeared on the shows more frequently?
John McCain …
Graham is a creature of Washington, people … a guy who has become totally disconnected from the people he’s supposed to represent (and their best interests).
Graham is a shameless warmonger. And special interest whore. And fiscal liberal. And Barack Obama abettor. And neo-fascist. And friend of terrorists. And thief of your liberty. And fraud. And hypocrite.
Are those really attributes South Carolinians want?
“At a time when the people of this country need a choice, not an echo – Lindsey Graham is living in the Washington echo chamber,” Ravenel said.
We agree …

If Graham took Ravenel seriously, I would doubt his ability to serve as a United States Senator.
Excellent point. Why would he take the candidacy of a convicted drug dealer, drunken drive, philandering baby daddy, FEC rule violator and”reality TV star” seriously – nobody else is, except maybe Will.
You got it bad Colonel.
Not in the way you think – I’m lukewarm at best on Graham but anyone who would support T-Rav deserves the disaster he’d be.
Ravenel wants to elect a Democrat…DEBATE OVER.
So you are saying I should choose the convicted drug dealer who knocked up a girl less than half his age, won’t marry her, and who said he hates the US so much he wants to renounce his citizenship and move to another country.
I forget, did Ravenel tell people he was a drug dealer when he was running for Treasure? If not doesn’t that make him a fraud? Did he support repealing drug laws when he was running for office and dealing drugs? Has he come out in support of legalizing cocaine? Does that make him a hypocrite? Is it ok to be a friend to the Drug Cartels as long as they limit their acts of terror to Mexico?
What has Graham done for South Carolina? I will give Graham supporters 24 hours from the time of my post (3:16 PM EST) to answer via the reply function to my post. If none of you don’t answer, it says it all.
Fought for and got the MRAPS we use in SWA
Changed TRICARE rules to expand coverage for reservist and guardsmen
Wrote the law that got the National Guard a seat on the JCS
Secured funding for the Port of Charleston
Continues to fight for Keystone XL
…and you beat the bizarro 24 hour deadline! He wasn’t sending you proof of life pics of your dog with today’s issue of the NYT or anything, was he?
It almost looks like one guy felt obligated to make as many anti Graham posts using as many different names as possible.
12 years ( a decade point 2 ) as a US Senator. What else is there?
Google is your friend, you might be surprised at how Lindsey has positively affected the state.
It is not recent memory … it took you hoursssssssssssss to even post that. And don’t tell me you were not on this site trolling. We already know you were here.
Sure I was here, between checking home work, working in my shop, checking on my parents, running to the hardware store, writing OERs and spending some quality time with a Yuengling…didn’t you offer 24 hours?
uh huh uh huh. Btw .. How is Jeff? You know Jeff Powell?
No clue, I know several Powell’s, but none named Jeff.
He’s a colonel.
Much like when I was in the 82nd many years ago, and would be somewhere away from Bragg in Class A’s for some reason. Some clown would see the well-known patch and say, “Hey- my cousin Joe Blow is in that unit. You know him, right?” When I invariably did not, they would become incredulous and ask me if I was really in the 82nd. “How can you not know him? White guy, 22 years old, very short brown hair?”
What’s a division got these days, 15,000 or Soldiers and you don’t know his cousin!?!
Based upon my quasi-ad hoc semi-official personal research conducted primarily in dive bars and cocktail parties over the past 25 years, I have concluded that there are more than 121,652,198 veterans of Army SF, Naval Special Warfare, and the CIA’s special activities and paramilitary units telling tales of their exploits to chubby girls across the US. My research also showed that when you whip out the coin and ask what specific shop they were in and whether they remember ol’ so-and-so the SGM there, they suddenly take ill and have to depart rapidly.
+10
And tell me this: Do you or do you not utilize federal property for non government related activities?
Sure, in fact, tomorrow I plan to do a little fishing on some “federal property”.
Is there anything more you wish to tell us that you can’t tell us because the Inspector General might think something of it?
I will be back tomorrow. Some high brass might be interested in you.
Whatever dude, the only “high brass” I worry about comes on 12 gauge buck shot shells
Sir, I am afraid you are in direct and flagrant violation of TBG’s Rule #3, as I believe he refers to it. I recognize the offense because I have several on my rap sheet as well. Once you’re certain the guy you’re debating is an idiot, psychopath, or both, it’s time to hang out the “Do Not Disturb” sign and ignore them. Believe me when I tell you I know how hard it can be. TBG’s talked me off of the ledge several times…
Bored, the games over and there’s nothing on TV. Like I tell or training NCO every time we have mandatory suicide training, “…you don’t have to worry about suicide with me, homicide, well that’s a different story if you make me sit through this training again…”
Yeah, you’re an idiot but I don’t think the Inspector General will care. At last count, there were something like 20,000 colonels and lieutenant colonels in the Army (Active, Guard and Reserve) I probably know 200 or so, one named Powell but he’s not a Jeff
Is this all there is? What about South Carolina? Deeping the Charleston Harbor? Pffft!!!
MRAPs are made here, BCBSSC managed part of TRICARE,
Drop in the bucket.
“Are those really attributes South Carolinians want?”
Unfortunately, yes. The majority in the GOP chose Newt Gingrich for the GOP primary not too long ago, and the GOP runs things here.
I am a man of little faith.
One other attribute besides those listed that South Carolinians obviously have no problem with in elected officials is adultery. Mark Sanford and Nikki Haley have proved that.
Sanfraud admitted his. Has Haley admitted it or has it been proven? Apparently you take Sic Willie and his buds at their word. A very dangerous position.
Fits, you left out a few other things that the senator is guilty of.
Who is this Ravenel person you’re constantly nattering about?
Its Lenevar spelled backwards.
Dear Wil Folks……….do you really want FITSNEWS to make a difference..?
Do you…??
So, you write an article lamenting the fact that Lindsey Graham will not debate Thomas Ravenel. You opine that Thomas will not get the chance to prove himself in front of an audience that he would be a better representative in the Senate than Lindsey.
Well, Wil, the next time you have a chance to chat with Mr. Thomas Ravenel, ask him if he would like to debate a fine citizen pretending to be Senator Graham.
I….VOLUNTEER ….!! Yep, I, Philip Branton volunteer to make a debate worth really watching and garnering respect for Fitsnews…….respect for the comment hounds found at the bottom of these articles……….respect for the citizens of South Carolina………..and above all respect for people who have the guts to actually enter a political battlefield…!!
Lindsey Graham can smile on “Face the Nation” all he wants too…………when it comes to “Face the Citizen” ………..he can wipe that smile off of his face..!!
We are fed ….up…!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWD4TKkEjr8
I’ll …. make ….Ravenel……look …like ………Sheriff Andy Taylor………!!
No chance. Debating you doesn’t advance T-Rav’s TV career. Isn’t that what it really is all about? Sic is just a tool.
Yeah so let’s get a senator in there with zero pull, who nobody in the Senate will respect, and watch him accomplish nothing except embarrassing our state. Why would a sitting Senator walk into a trap like that? T Rav is a felon who shouldn’t be taken seriously by anyone.
Besides, the only thing that comes from T Rav being in this race is giving a Dem a better chance of winning. That’s secretly what libertarians want anyway.
“watch him accomplish nothing ”
That’d actually be an improvement over things.
Yes, it beats hell out of the current idiot (Lindsey) who wants to rip the Constitution, give moar money to third world toilets so they will “like” us, vote however Obama tells him to, wants to give this country away to the illegals, and start WWIII. I could take someone accomplishing “nothing” over that ANY day of the week.
That would be Tim Scott who was the sucessor of numbnuts Jim DeMint.
“Lindsey Graham won’t debate but…”
If “ifs” and “buts” were candy and nuts, wouldn’t it be a Merry Christmas?
or in Ms. Lindsey’s case:
“If “ifs” and “butts” were candy and nuts, wouldn’t it be a Merry Christmas?”
Funny how one little letter can change a whole sentence eh?
Why should he waste his time debating an opponent who’s running for a reality show? Why should anybody take Ravenel seriously?
Why should anybody take Ravenel seriously?
Same reason Toronto needs to take their mayoral election seriously.
GOBSMACKED!!!
This POS will not show up anywhere he can’t control the venue . That is enough to make me look elsewhere for a candidate to vote for. If he can’t face his constituents why should his constituents support him ? I think T Rav at least deserves a chance.
T Rav had a chance and blew it long ago.
You are an old do nothing Gravy Yard worker. What the fk do you know? HAHAHAHAAHAHAAA!!
Obviously more than you but then that probably does not take a whole lot of knowledge.
Answer the post above, mr know it all.
I’d say “snorted it” long ago….
Sir, with all due respect, no rational political advisor would EVER advise a candidate in LG’s position to debate a flake candidate of TR’s ilk. That’s just a cold, hard political fact (look around the interwebs and you’ll find innumerable examples of what I’m talking about). There’s no moral or religious canon that provides all candidates the right to a head-to-head debate. The First Amendment and the FEC ensure that candidates get to fight it out fair and square. The “constituents” you referenced had a primo opportunity to knock LG off, and they failed miserably. That’s called the “will of the people,” which sometimes sucks when we’re on the losing side. If those same constituents get ticked off enough about the lack of debates, they have yet another chance to boot LG in November and Hutto will be our guy in the Senate. That won’t happen, though, because only a small minority are worked up about it. I know some folks have a borderline obsessive hate for LG, and we all dislike some of his votes, but no candidate is perfect. The Tea Party, TR, and some other assorted clowns tried their damnedest to kick LG to the curb at any cost (to include electing an Obama-supportive Dem). That’s simply not smart ball. TR is not our guy, and I think (based solely on my interpretation of your posts here over the past year or so) that you are smart enough to know this is the case. Maybe if a real guy had stepped, who knows? A real guy didn’t step up, though. Only TR.
Graham will , most likely, go back in with low 50’s% of the vote. It just makes me sick to see our great state re elect such a sorry excuse for a senator. I never have been able to figure how we always have one very good senator (Thermond, Demint, Scott) and at the same time have the likes of Hollings and Graham. From a strictly political point though, it would be easier to replace a one term Dim senator than a three term RINO. We need as many Republican senators this time as possible but they really need to be more than just a (R). I will continue to support T Rav simply because I cannot vote for Graham—I have to look at myself in the mirror.
Brutal fight by 2 girls at Lexington High. Lexington 1 has a leftwing, money grubbing school board, that is for Common Core, but has lost control.
Read about it on SCPSD…
Learn how to write and I’ll check it out….
If you’ll learn how to read, it’s a deal…LMAO….
I can read well enough to see you have one comma too many…
First, the Comma Nazis came for GrandTango…and TBG said nothing….
Are you up to 10 hits a day yet? Excluding family.
My Google Profile (just visits to that Google page for SCPSD) are easily accessible. Why not check for yourself? Do the math. I started about June 10.
Sounds like Graham takes T-Rav about as serious as the rest of us.
He doesn’t even live in South Carolina anymore. He owns a house here, and that’s about it. The pos is worthless to our state. He doesn’t represent South Carolina citizens. He represents himself. And to you fools who support him, I say this as I laugh — “FK U”. I dare him to call me a “bigot” to my face. The pussy boy is afraid to debate anyone. It proves that he is a coward. He has had his chance. He’s finished. Who gives a fudge what any of this stupid supporters say. Graham is toast for sure. And nothing can change that cold hard fact. HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!
You need to take your meds or has T Rav sold them?
Apparently he has a twin as I see someone who looks exactly like him around the upstate all the time.
His supporters may be “stupid” but they vote.
You don’t see a fucking thing. Noted how easily you will lie. I should throw your ass in jail.
“Graham is toast for sure.”
Want to bet on that? You are delusional, but I have no qualms taking money from delusional people.
Lindsey Graham’s own neighbors have reported that they have not seen him at his house in SC in months and months. He does not LIVE in SC. He has taken up full time residence in Washington, DC.
T-Rav lives in Palm Springs and The Hamptons. He just comes to SC to film his reality sho…. eh em … senate campaign.
Where is his house and where can we read first hand reports of what his neighbors say?
Shut up old man. And stop attacking Sic and calling his articles stupid and crazy. All you do is cut him down. And it just shows how pathetic of a little maggot you really are.
He owns a house in Washington with a guy in the House, right?
SC US Senator Tim Scott Refuses To Endorse Lindsey Graham. And we know why. Miss Lindsey is a douche bag.
— “hand-picked crowd” —
You know that in a general admission audience, only “old white male bigots” like William Carter and Lawson will show up. It would be bad enough with T-Rav and Hutto guest teaming up to boo. By the way has anyone seen Hutto? How did William Carter’s rally go?
Stand By ….. National Media Is Going To Start Pounding Graham As To Why He Avoids Debating His Challengers. You can only get away with being a coward for so long.
South Carolina voters loathe the national media almost as much as Obama is despised here. Calling in the liberals on Graham will only help him.
No one will blame him for ignoring a fringe candidate who is also a convicted drug dealer, drunken driver, baby daddy who also violates election laws and”stars” in a little watched “reality TV” show.
You are another stupid dork. Always attacking Sic, calling him names, mocking him. You were not even in the military. And if you were, certainly NOT an officer.
Please don’t tell anyone, I’d hate for all the soldiers standing in my formation tomorrow morning to find out! You’re welcome to join us at 0500 tomorrow for PT.
And yes, The Colonel has cleaned toilets, as a PFC and as a LTC.
It’s posts like yours which elevate the debate on this board to something…sniff…well…just…beautiful. Sniff.
Yes. Compulsive liar, I mean “colonel klink” is not what he claims. Flushed out, I think … maybe even down?
Looked for you this morning at Darby Field, seeing no one who looked out of place we just got on with it, sorry we missed you.
No…they…won’t. Wishing it was so doesn’t make it so.
Let’s see your examples. Do a quick check of the intergoogles for this search string, “incumbent refuses to debate” and see what you get. A little mid-grade whining from HuffPo (!) and series of articles and pieces detailing the long-emerging trend of incumbents blowing off challenger debates (*especially* fringe candidates like TR). Only at the Presidential level does any real, impactful stigma still exist attendant to skipping debates. It cuts across racial lines, political party lines, and money lines. It’s an incumbent vs. challenger thing. Candidates are, in fact, “getting away with it” and will continue to do so for at least the immediately foreseeable future.
What has Graham done for South Carolina? I will give Graham supporters 24 hours from the time of my post (3:17 PM EST) to answer via the reply function to my post. If none of you don’t answer, it says it all.
What did T-Rav do for South Carolina as treasurer other than “conspiring to buy and distribute less than 100 grams of cocaine”? You’ve got 24 hours.
Answer a question with a question? How immature.
Answer his question.
Lindsey (I never leave a man’s behind) Graham is exactly like the tranvestite J. E. Hoover. He is a Colonel in the AF, he is in the Combat Arms of Lawyer, while an honorable profession, Graham just loves the dead and dying. Can’t seem to get enough, not that he’d risk his own lily white ass that John McCain loves so much.
From the looks of it, supporters here of Graham’s are chicken squat know nothings.
Oh about as much as Tim Scott, Nikki Haley,Henry McMaster,Bobby Harrell,Hugh Leatherman,Alan Wilson,Joe Wilson Mark Sanford,Jeff Duncan,Trey Gowdy,Jim Clyburn ,Mick MulvaneyTom Rice ,members of the SC House,Members of the SC Senate.Need more examples?
Really fella, what kind of SILLY ass question is that?
And almost ALL are going to be Elected or ReElected, including our fine Governor.
The people of South Carolina DONT GIVE A DAMN.
GET it!
Dumb low intelligence.
If I were a Graham supporter, I would tell you he has worked to get funding for the dredging of Charleston Harbor for the totally unnecessary supertankers. Jim DeMinted was against that.
…supertankers.
HOLY Capt. Hazelwood, Batman. Super tankers in Charleston Harbor!!
Aunt Pittie Pat!! Run get TBG his smelling salts!!!
T-Rav’s has a ground breaking campaign. It’s the first one to ever have a producer and a director.
Answer my post below, Miss. Know It All.
You are a sick sociopath. And your long history here on this website proves it. Posting to Liz about camel toes, etc. Are YOU on the SLED sexual registry?????
Colossians 4:6
Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
Sorry. A lot more grace. Less salty.
Graham’s nothing more than your typical southern, racist, bigoted hack. He is always on CNN’s State of the Union. Crowley is pathetic and should ask him what he’s done for the country and the people of his state.
I can’t stand the guy, but I know he has done way for SC than Jim DeMinted or Mark Sanford ever did.
Like what has he done for South Carolina? (listens — hears crickets chirping). Anyone wanting Graham for another 6 years obviously has a sickness between their ears. This is why the USA is over. Its never coming back because stupid foolish dumbasses keep putting the same old wacked out politicians in office because they simply like how they talk and how they look – PERIOD!
America Deserves To Collapse because of fools like YOU.
Why should Lindsey be a prop in advancing Ravenel’s TV career?
Incumbent Andrew Cuomo is too gutless to debate his opponent in the NY gubernatorial race, too.
But, Ravenel wants town halls because he’s afraid at a real debate journalists would ask him about his criminality.
Is Miss Lindsey afraid of Brad Hutto, too? Is Ravenel?
Politics 101 – you never let a loser share your spotlight.
Hmm….yep, David was sucha loser when he went out to debate Goliath……
Does this get Graham many votes in SC? From right-wing apocalyptic evangelicals maybe? Or is it a ploy for garnering out-of-state donations? And from whom, Israel supporters or military-industrial profiteers?
Naturally I discount acting on simple principle out-of-hand.

A message to Sen. Graham written by Stan Klos, Phd. http://www.historic.us
If you want a real solution it begins with enacting the 1st Amendment to the 1789 Bill of Rights.
Dear Honorable Representative and US Senator,
70 percent of your time is spent fundraising and campaigning. Meanwhile, 12,000 staffers and 11,000 lobbyists wield undue influence and conduct the business of the House of Representatives. Why? Because the House and Senate Conference Committee working out the Bill of Rights on September 28th, 1789, made a single word blooper in formulating the original 1st Amendment .
Please change the word “more” back to “less” in the original first amendment to the Bill of Rights, which limited Congressional Districts to 50,000 citizens. This amendment was deemed most essential. It was placed in the 1st position and passed by a Congress consisting of Two Future US Presidents, Three former Presidents of Congress, Nine declaration of Independence signers, four Articles of Confederation signers, and 15 US Constitution Signers. Moreover President George Washington, Chief Justice John Jay, Secretary of State and Declaration of Independence author Thomas Jefferson, Secretary of the Treasury and US constitution signer Alexander Hamilton, Attorney General and US constitution framer Edmund Randolph, and Secretary of War Henry Knox all worked together behind the scenes to constitutionally cap, in this 1st Amendment , Congressional Districts at 50,000. In their debates and letters it was clear these founders wanted, with the passage of the 1st Amendment, for the House to remain answerable to people through the mechanism of small districts devoid of any undue influence by special interests who might fund Congressional Campaigns.
Unfortunately, due to a clerical error, “less” than 50,000 was changed to “more,” and the amendment was never ratified.
Please, just change the word MORE back to the word LESS in this Amendment, and send it to the States for ratification. The time has come to return to the people a new House that will consist of 6300 elected Representatives from all walks of life throughout the United States. This diverse group, truly representative of their constituents, will revitalize the House with the synergy of their ideas and ignite the active participation of “We the People” in congressional legislation. Please return campaigns to neighbors calling on neighbors with grass roots budgets that do not require the capital and voter influence of Lobbyists to win a seat in Congress. Please remove the campaign burden of members spending millions of dollars and 70% of their time to persuade 726,000 gerrymandered constituents to elect them every two years.
Please Honorable Representative, get your Senators on board to return the House to the people. Change the word MORE back LESS in the 1789 Bill of Rights 1st Amendment and send it to the States for ratification. It’s what the framers intended.
Thank you
Graham is very good communicating to low-information Republicans. He will say one thing to the Republicans at the conferences and the dinners playing to his conservative base but behind the scenes he plots with Democrats to pass liberal legislation.
Conservative Talk show host, Mark Levin blasted South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham for his moderate positions and his betrayal of the constitutional conservative principles of the Republican Party, calling him the Sen. Arlen Specter of the South.
Graham has been very vocal in his criticism of the South Carolina GOP for defending the Republican platform: In October of 2009, Graham was publicly quoted making derogatory statements about the South Carolina Republican Party.
In March 2009, Graham suggested that consideration should be given to nationalizing the American banking system. This was just after the 2008 economic crisis, and though it was never written into a bill and voted on, the statement, itself shows a shocking amount of irresponsibility and ignorance on Graham’s part. It highlights just how little Graham can be trusted on economic issues.
In May 2005, Graham played a leading role in the infamous “Gang of 14,” which voted with Democrats to prevent Republicans from overriding Democrat blockage of Republican judicial nominees. Just a year later, he opposed James Haynes, a South Carolina native and conservative lawyer nominated by President George W. Bush for the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. This blocked Haynes’ nomination from receiving a full vote in the Senate. Graham said this was because he disagreed with Haynes’ involvement in enhanced interrogation techniques for enemy combatants, like Arab terrorist who want to kill Americans.
While he was actively destructive toward conservative nominees, Graham has repeatedly helped Obama confirm radical nominees. In August of 2009, DeMint joined 30 fellow Republicans to vote against the confirmation of Sonia Sotomayor, a famously liberal, activist justice, to the Supreme Court, while Graham joined the Democrats and voted for it. Again, in July 2010, on the issue of confirming Elena Kagan, another noted liberal, to the Supreme Court, DeMint joined fellow Republicans to vote against that nomination, while Graham joined the Democrats.
Graham has also supported excessive foreign aid to other countries, including state sponsors of terrorism.
In August 2007 in response to a Democratic effort to enact legislation granting amnesty to illegal aliens, DeMint was a leader in opposition, while Graham supported the bill even though it did not prevent new illegal immigration or provide for any sort of border security. Graham not only voted for the bill, he actually thanked Ted Kennedy for his work on it and stated that he was “going to tell the bigots to shut up” during one of his speeches before a packed room of criminal illegal aliens and members of LaRaza.
In June 2013, Graham acted as part of the infamous “Gang of 8,” and helped to pen an immigration bill that provides effective amnesty to illegal aliens without taking action to close the border first, and which allows repeated felons to not only become citizens, but have their records wiped clean. The bill was seen as a destructive one even for those who support the idea of amnesty for illegal aliens. Graham joined the Democrats in invoking cloture and supporting the bill while Senator Tim Scott (DeMint’s replacement) voted in opposition.
Graham supports Obama using executive action to grant amnesty to at least 6 million criminal illegal aliens.
Yup, surely SC can find a REAL conservative, not a RINO. I’d sure take Jim DeMint back if I could get him.
Over a 100 grassroots conservative activists are coming together again for a strategy meeting to replace Graham.
The Army inspector general’s office … hmmmm.
Get This. Graham condones illegals crossing the border from Mexico, right? Graham condones amnesty of 6 million plus, right? Throw this in the skanks face … sink him like Cantor was sunk. South Carolina is very “anti-illegal.” >>>>> NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — The National Council of Border Patrol Agents (NBPC) is responding to the increasing assaults against the agents who protect our border with the production of a documentary movie that tells their story. While violent assaults frequently leave agents injured and even hospitalized, U.S. Attorneys often fail to prosecute the illegal aliens who commit the assaults.
Is Thomas Ravanel eligible to vote or is he precluded as a convicted felon?
