“FUNDAMENTAL LIBERTY IS OUR SHARED AMERICAN BIRTHRIGHT”
Lowcountry businessman and independent U.S. Senate candidate Thomas Ravenel welcomed prospective Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul to South Carolina this week – praising the Kentucky Senator for his support of individual liberty.
“I was encouraged to hear that U.S. Senator Rand Paul took an aggressive position in support of individual liberty during his trip to South Carolina this week,” Ravenel said. “His support for the Bill of Rights – including our Fourth Amendment freedoms – is exactly the sort of perspective we need in the U.S. Senate.”
Paul attended a fundraiser in Rock Hill, S.C. on behalf of U.S. Rep. Mick Mulvaney, telling a crowd of several hundred Republicans that the GOP needed to be the “Bill of Rights party.” He also said Republican candidates needed to stress their support for the Fourth Amendment in order to attract younger voters to the party.
For those of you who’ve forgotten your middle school social studies, the Fourth Amendment affirms the right of the people “to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures” – and requires search warrants to be issued “upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
Who doesn’t support this amendment?
“Republican” U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham – who has attacked Paul in the past for his defense of liberty.
Graham has repeatedly defended the mass snooping of the National Security Agency (NSA) – going so far as to say he was “glad” the government was unconstitutionally obtaining private records with no warrant and no probable cause.
Ravenel – who is running against Graham – wasted little time in drawing that distinction for South Carolina voters.
“While Rand Paul was fighting for these liberties on the Senate floor during his heroic filibuster last spring – Lindsey Graham sided with President Obama in attacking him,” he said. “What is it about freedom that makes Lindsey Graham so afraid? We need U.S. Senators who respect individual liberty – not because the Constitution says so, or because it’s the right thing to do politically – but because there is a God-given law, or a natural law if you will, which holds that to be self-evident truth.”
Ravenel also echoed Paul’s theme of inclusiveness, arguing that this inalienable “natural law” should apply to all people.
“No matter who we are, what we look like or what we believe, that fundamental liberty is our shared American birthright,” he said.
Ravenel and Rand Paul are 100 percent right on this issue … and Graham is 100 percent wrong. The preservation of individual liberty is a bedrock principle of natural law and our American form of government, and Ravenel and Paul deserve credit for their efforts on its behalf.

Instead of “Stand with Rand” how about “Pick the lessor of two Douches”?
Unless you’re jack “the southern avenger” hunter..then its “go stand over there, not anywhere near Rand”
That dude pick weird friends.
Jack Hunter is an odd one. Maybe he is one of Graham’s secret lovers? The Daily Caller dropped his columns, I think. Guess they figured him out, too.
If Rand does run you can bet his history with The Southern Avenger will all come out in all its glory. Despite Rands early cutting of ties with Hunter the racist posts of his and the book he ghost wrote for him are not going away.
“Welcomed him?!” As in he was there and part of the event?! Uh, no. What a lame attempt to wordsmith Rand Paul’s visit into an excuse to mention TR’s irrelevant ramblings in one easy step! Instead, let’s hear about the meeting that Paul’s camp requested with their fellow “defender of liberty / citizenship denouncer.” Oh, wait, yeah…that request must have slipped under the fax machine or something. I mean, um, I thought we sent it, uh, let me check with Senator Paul on that and get back to you after November 4th…
I haven’t seen a follow up report on that HUGE tea party meeting that T Rav attended in Laurens, have you?
There was a report on another website. The protest received national attention.
Can you share the site?
It was the Greenville High School News, they don’t have enough band width for an actual web site per say…

Uh, obviously not.
Ha! Sure did not. I did a quick search on my super top-secret research machine (the interwebs) for “Thomas Ravenel Laurens Tea Party” and the only hits I got were the FITS fellatio-like announcement and the video of his speech. Ten seconds into the speech, TR tells the overflow crowd of 14 how happy he is to be in Greenwood (a county over and a good 20-25 mile ride away- oops), and then commences to state that a US Senator should keep his promises (like, say, if one claims to denounce one’s citizenship, one should actually move one’s ass right on out of the US). I clicked off at that point to keep from laughing hard enough to injure myself. I had said that if he spent enough of his own money he could actually break 7%, but now I feel dumber for having ever said that. Live and learn.
Paul is courting Israeli votes (which is strange because they don’t vote here) – so any war with Arabs in it, he’s gonna be for it.
The Israel lobby is very powerful. Or don’t you know that?
Anyone who doesn’t know that, deliberately doesn’t know that.
More like “Grandstand with Rand,” amirite?
I’m confused, if the drug dealing, FEC rule violating, drunken driving, philandering, baby daddy and “reality TV Star” wasn’t actually at the event how can he welcome anyone to the event?
I’m willing to bet that all Rand Paul knows about T-Rav is that he should be avoided like the plague as a disgraced former treasurer/convicted drug dealer.
Did Thomas ride in on his polo pony brandishing his mallet?
how big is his mallet? think Lindsey knows?
Ravened is a convicted criminal ya’ll……..remember????
Obviously he is no longer a TV “star” as Sic Willie doesn’t mention that any more.
Felon, that is why he is high on 4th amendment, Had it been a little stronger they would have not got the warrant for all his blow.
You just can’t wait to criticize, can you. What exactly are you doing to save America? At Least he’s Working hard trying to save it.
Trying to make a Positive Change.
What Are you doing. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
That’s what I thought.
Same goes for the rest of you.
Only in SC, where the lack of education and the lack of registered voters can a washed up has been with no moral character run for such a high office. Birds of a feather flock together. Support from the bigot from Kentucky, yes in SC where red runs deep on the necks of the voters who love candidates well versed in teabonics. Remember Newt winning the primary here.
