CAMPAIGN AD BLASTS GOVERNOR FOR BOTCHED RESPONSE …
Remember the #SCHacked scandal? It’s back …
S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley‘s self-described “Hurricane Hugo” is the subject of a new television ad from Democratic gubernatorial nominee Vincent Sheheen.
The spot – entitled “Protect” – focuses on Haley’s botched response to the 2012 theft of 3.8 million Social Security numbers, nearly 400,000 credit and debit card numbers and tax info for as many as 650,000 businesses from the S.C. Department of Revenue (SCDOR). Perpetrated by as-yet-unidentified hackers, the weeks-long intrusion was never caught by the state – and Haley waited sixteen days to inform the public after federal authorities discovered the breach.
The governor initially claimed “there wasn’t anything where anyone in state government could have done anything” to stop the breach – and that the Palmetto State used “industry standard” data security methods. Both of those claims turned out to be completely false.
Haley’s administration received a $20 million bailout to pay for all the costs associated with the breach – including a controversial credit monitoring deal with a firm that was later hacked itself.
Funny, huh? Not if you’re a current or former South Carolina taxpayer …
“When hackers stole the Social Security numbers of 3.6 million South Carolinians, Haley hid it from us for over two weeks,” the ad’s narrator states. “The biggest security breach of any state agency in history – putting our personal information at risk – and not even a warning from Haley for weeks.”
Here’s the spot …

So …
Why did Haley delay? One widely held theory is that state officials were trying to negotiate with the cyber terrorists – although the truth behind the attack has yet to come out because Haley refuses to release a law enforcement report detailing what happened.
Viva transparency , right?
RAPID REACTION

Haley lied about it to the people in this state for two weeks while she had political dreams when Romney was here. Shw continues to lie about the breach while seeking a second term…lets make sure we dont give her 4 more years this November.
I think the response to it is far more damning for Haley than the actual breech. The breech speaks to the incompetence of ensuring that information is well protected and intrusions are detected quickly, which Haley may have not been immediately aware of (although the people she appointed should have been). That’s not the case once she was told they had been attacked.
“breach”
“”breach””
I think there was a breach of Haley’s breech – Fits may additional info on that breach of her breech.
We’ll never know. Either there really was no book, it was just vapor wear or, thugs got to the alleged author.
I would hazard to guess that the most efficient method of accomplishing this “breech” is with a large WAD!
Oh you can be a pencil dick, just be sure to flash a large knot!
Doesn’t matter which party you are!
YOU BETCHA!
LMAO!!! You people have come unglued (including FITS) the last couple of days.
Was it the Business Insider report that Governor Haley’s policies have resulted in one of the best STATE economies in the nation OR you all have knowledge of the NEW poll being released shortly that Haley has a 14% lead over Sheheen and in a three/four way race Ervin and French combine for 4% of the vote, drawing equally from Haley and Sheheen?
And the state economy apparently is very lucrative for Russian hackers who steal our SS#s and bank account information. If government’s first job is to protect it’s citizens, Haley is the ultimate failure. She’s compromised out most important personal information with overseas hackers (heck, maybe they were related to her) – and has allowed state agencies to become overseers of death for children. She’s a complete failure. We hae to replace her, or we doom our state to further decline.
Prove your ss# and bank account information was stolen by Russian hackers.
Liar.
Beside that, Haley pretty much, has never even commented on her DSS blunder. Reminds me of other shams. I wish Darla would kick her ass.
We wouldn’t know – she never released the report on who did it. Not sure who has more transparancy – Haley or Russia.
Oh cool. Sandi is actually one of the pimple-faced kids working deep in teh bowels of the Haley campaign – preparing to release a “poll” that was made up in their alternate universe. Sandi – if that’s your real name – get a grip. The majority of SC voters dislike Nimroda – plain and simple. She’s all fluff and puff.
Well damn if the fucking Haley Troll has finnally showed…it feeds on Haleys shit…
“Drayton”. Yep I am in “Dayton” helping an ailing parent. Guess you have my IP address?
It appears the Russians aren’t the only ones #acking. Not very smart. :-)
Lol. Nothing like some good old paranoid Sandi shit.
Don’t think so. Both my email accounts have apparently been “#hacked” and my family is threatened.
My attorney has advised me not to participate/comment on this website anymore.
Best wishes to all.
Well, we’ll miss ya!

I think even Alvin Greene would not make that mistake. Sandi, you are right though, Haley’s economy is great, for her.
Let’s hope there is a solid inventory of Governor’s Mansion property to look at after she leaves… Given her character, I would expect her to loot the place on the way out…
Will NIMRATA have the toilets re-installed?
Democratic state Sen. Vincent Sheheen said Wednesday that Republican Gov. Nikki Haley has not – as she has claimed –moved more than 20,000 people “from welfare to work.”
“What counts as employment at the Department of Social Services is not even a real full-time job,” Sheheen said to reporters in Columbia, adding some former welfare recipients are counted as success stories but earn so little that they still assistance.
Department of Revenue, a Haley Cabinet agency, is now run by a Leatherman man, Ricky Reams, a ” made man” in the Florence mafia.
I don’t care how smart Rick Reames is. You can’t shake Florence from you.
hollentour is right. the republicans have done such a great job running the state we need to give them 20 more years of total unchecked control of all three branches of government
I really do think there should be less articles about Nikki’s politics and more…much more…about her bodacious booty.
That’s what she will be hoping for after this election!
Reminds me of a woman, finding herself in the middle of an intersection after the light has already turned green for oncoming traffic, realizes she’s broken the law, and really despises people who do that, and there are big, heavy cars are starting to move across the intersection directly in front of her, and to the left of her…. so she stops.
Now, I know that sounds sexist, so let me dig deeper…
nimrat looks like she would make a good kindergarten teacher, especially with crepe paper and lepague’s.
Haley and Sheheen aside, anyone with 90 seconds of infosec experience knows that no governor could have prevented the breach. An interesting debate questions would be, “If you were just notified of a massive breach, who would your first call be to and what would you say?” Haley’s response was actually much better than many corporate CEO’s have provided. No, it wasn’t ideal and no, the ongoing remediation has flaws but to use this as a campaign point is just plain stupid. If Sheheen wins how will he react during the next breach? Does he know? Has he presented some magical incident response plan? Does he even know the first thing about the subject? Was he the shady guy in dark glasses in the back corner of a conference room at Mandalay Bay a couple weeks ago? While I am not a huge Haley fan I find the tactics of politicians have just become comical and the Kool-Aid drinkers fall for anything. You guys have been spoon fed something you do not question and know nothing about but jump on it like someone is spouting the gospel. Ask yourself if you know the first thing about what a good response would look like – and if you really do have the qualifications to answer that, do any of the candidates?
christ go back and read the article there was something the state could have done but did not do before this happen but we was told a lie, standard industry methods was used ,now it has cost the state taxpayer 20 million and counting just think of how many more citizens could be put to work but now we are paying a credit monitoring company what a great day for south carolina go gov.Haley
