Yeah, nobody ever discriminates against black people these days.

… in Narnia.

Some people discriminate against blacks. Some people discriminate against whites. The point is that there shouldn’t be a preference for one race over the other when it comes to hiring or opportunities.

I love Asian cuisine August 15, 2014 at 3:07 pm

Exactly.

Asians get more loan approvals and better interest rates then Anglo’s from banks, should we go out a pass a bunch of laws to fix that?

Of course not.

Plus, I don’t think we could get Al Sharpton to dress up in “White face” unless we could guarantee a constant stream of white oriented manufactured outrage with the appropriate compensation for his stoking expertise.

Agreed. I was responding to Will’s statement on that, as it was stated, which seemed to suggest that all discrimination against blacks was in the past. As you point out, there is all kinds of discrimination, against every group imaginable. Will may have edited the statement since I first read the piece. Or he may not. Either way, it’s cool. This is a couple of guys with political ambitions, of course. I’m thinking maybe a POTUS/VPOTUS ticket. So it is to be expected.

Rand is no Ron August 15, 2014 at 2:57 pm

The only saving grace to this bill is that(from my understand, which could be wrong), it is supposedly completely voluntary/optional in regards to whether a business chooses to interview minority candidates or not.

Minorities shouldn’t have to face further stigma surrounding whether they actually deserved a job or were a product of affirmative action, and the only way to guarantee that is to eliminate government enforced favoritism based on race.

Guess that would also work in reverse: “black” owned companies would be required to deal with white folks, Hispanics, Asians, Indian Ocean cannibals, arabs, …. and how many others? Another problem is can they keep up with PERCENTAGES? What’s next – ration out drivers licenses, concealed carry permits, and what else? Has anybody asked the Pakistani/Indian/Bangladesh gas/convenience store owners how they feel about it? Good God, I could go on and on …!!

” . . . . . “black” owned companies . . .”

How can you tell what color person owns which company?? Seriously.

“Another problem is can they keep up with PERCENTAGEs?”

If the “they” that you are talking about are the “black” company owners, I would assume yes – “blacks” take math just like the rest of us so I do not think that keeping up with percentages will be an issue.

“Has anybody asked the Pakistani/Indian/Bangladesh convenience store owners how they feel about it?”
I’ve never noticed a preponderance of Pakistani/Indian/Bangladesh convenience store owners. A Big Gulp is a Big Gulp is a Big Gulp if you ask me.

Don’t think that the black folks discriminate against whites in St. Andrews now, for example at McDonalds and Dollar General? The black employees take care of the brothers and sisters first. This is from personal experience.

Bottom line: What the LEFT (FITS) is doing now is trying to weaken the supporters of Republicans. That’s the way Liberal-Tarians get GOP voters, and put a Democrat in…

My Guess: FITS is going to end up pulling more Democrat votes (because only the stupid will buy this.) The nutjob side-show Liberal-Tarian party will not appeal to the more-intelligent Conservative voter…and making it harder for democrats, is not what FITS is trying to do,. And it’s not what Felonious Punk pays him for.

These programs, well intended as they may be, end up helping people who don’t need it.
1. They are already wealthy. Just another form of what Will calls crony capitalism.
2. They are 51% minority owned business and subcontract to white owned or other 51% minority owned business so that a large majority of the income goes to whites.
3. The beneficiaries are people who look like Senator Elizabeth Warren, who claims to be 1/16 native American.

Why would you even think of something like that ? Just think of the bureaucrats that would have to get a real job. Just think of all the paper work that would be eliminated. Anything that makes that much sense could never be considered. There has to be “self esteem” considered. The “most qualified” is a racist argument. There could never be “equal outcomes”. The list goes on and on but “qualified” is of secondary importance . Welcome to reality. lol

Relatedly, I recently saw a story in the Health section of NYT that people who are too ‘gummy’ can have a little Botox injected in their upper gum area and end up with a real natural looking smile that doesn’t flash all that gum at us.
But, hey, from all the Tim Scott ads I’ve seen on the web, they ALL look up his nose and show those gums. He and his people must like that look.
