IT ISN’T BOOMING …
This website has consistently argued in favor of legalizing prostitution. It’s not that we’re looking to score, we simply believe the criminalization of sexual activity between consenting adults – for profit or otherwise – is an encroachment on individual liberty. Not only that, we believe the criminalization of prostitution deprives individuals of the ability to provide for themselves – thus draining the broader consumer economy.
And yes, we suppose there is a revenue component for providing core functions of government … although that’s not a reason we would embrace.
Anyway, we made all of those arguments in THIS PIECE …
Today we’re focusing on the business of sex – the “hard” numbers, if you will. Or “soft” numbers, judging from the latest data.
According to a report published by The Economist , the world’s oldest profession has seen a marked decline in profitability – “a drop in the average hourly rate of a prostitute in recent years.”
The publication – which analyzed date from 84 cities in twelve countries – found that the worldwide average cost for an hour with a prostitute has fallen from just under $350 in 2006 to just over $250 in 2014. In an interview with Maxine Doogan – who heads up the Erotic Service Providers Union – standard services (i.e. vaginal intercourse and fellatio) in America are currently running at around $200 an hour.
That’s exactly what they were in 1988 when Doogan began working as a prostitute in Nevada – where the profession has been legal since the mid-19th century.
Adjusted for inflation, though, that rate has seen a whopping 49.3 percent decrease .
The Economist report also found that the more prostitutes are willing to do, the more they get paid.
“Sex workers who offer anal sex or spanking earn on average $25 or $50 more per hour, respectively,” the publication found. “Those who will accept two male clients at once or do threesomes with another woman command a larger premium.”
Apparently size matters, too, as women who go “from flat-chested to a D-cup increases hourly rates by approximately $40, meaning that at a typical price of $3,700, surgery could pay for itself after around 90 hour.”
Like we said: Hard numbers, people … hard numbers.
Whatever the data reveals, prostitution is an economic avenue we believe women ought to be permitted to avail themselves of – assuming that’s their choice. Also, new technology makes it easier and safer for women to engage the profession on their own – and on their own terms – without having to rely on seedy criminals to line up business for them.

Simple supply and demand. Most likely due to demand remaining constant year over year and the number of prostitutes in the market has increased (supply) therefore driving prices down. Most likely due to the lack of other work available. Competition benefits consumers. You’re welcome for the ECON 101 lesson.
What data supports the claim that there are more prostitutes than before? I think that women are having more sex now than in previous decades, decreasing the demand for paid sex.
Just my theory. Job market sucks if you haven’t noticed.

You see that Grand Tango? A way for you to get off Medicaid.
Sheeeeet.
Cash money, Jack!
GT can roll in da Benjamins and STILL stay on Medicare…
They should be charging the rough equivalent of the price of a dinner and a movie, like other ladies.
I think they deserve more. Think about it, you pay them for sex and they don’t want to cuddle afterwards, don’t give a shit if you call again or not and you don’t have to pretend over dinner to be interested in any of their mind numbing bullshit in order to get coitus.
All of that is worth something.
A well-endowed prostitute was being questioned during her trial for soliciting. The city attorney said, “Have you anything to offer the jury on your behalf?”
The well-endowed prostitute said, “No thank you, but
that’s why I’m here!”

What do get when you cross a prostitute and an elephant?
A hooker who does it for peanuts and will never forget you!
Then there was the prostitute who got herself
arrested so she could be tried by the jury.
Her lawyer was doing his best with the jury, as he was telling the twelve men who sat in judgment about her amorous personality, and explained
in detail how often and in which ways she performed her sexual exploits, “Shall we find this lovely, long-legged, busty blonde guilty and keep her from returning to her expensive condo, telephone number 555-3267?”
The jury came in with a verdict. She was to have an ‘A’ tattooed on her in a discreet spot.
The judge was curious, “Why an ‘A’?
The jury foreman said, “Because that’s the highest grade we give!”
Did you hear about the new breakfast cereal, Prostituties?
They don’t snap, crackle or pop, they just lay there and bang!
With so many women/men out there willing to do a full menu of things “for free” why would any guy/gal really have to pay unless they were desperate? Plus if they meet at work, or in another country blowing off steam, they have established a level of connection that they can continue to call on as needed under a cover of mutual self-protection. However, the collateral damage is all the same ugly, no matter where you get your strange. Cake AND extra-marital Ego kibbles are yummy. Go ask at ChumpLady.com
Parking in the driveway after their first date, Roger leaned
over and gave Linda a passionate kiss. When she responded warmly, he unzipped his fly and pulled her hand to his penis.
Furious, Linda opened the door and jumped out of the car.
“I’ve got just two words for you,” she screamed. “DROP DEAD!”
“And I’ve got just two words for you,” Roger screamed, “LET
GO!”

Linda shook her head and said, “No thanks. I don’t care for a cigarette”.
just call the sex workers lobbyists and you have a solution, non?
Dvorak’s law: The worse the economy, not only do the hookers get better looking, but they get cheaper.

I love how it’s illegal to sell something that it’s legal to give away for free, or trade for jewelry and fine dining.
HINT: — it’s never for free
” . . .or trade for jewelry and fine dining.”
Yeah and please take a good hot, soapy bath too before you even think about the jewelry giving and the fine dining . . .that helps every time.
I shower and start with my face and wash down as far as possible, then I start with my feet and wash up as far as possible, and then — I wash “possible”…..
“I shower . . . .”
You sound like a good, clean man!
“HINT: — it’s never for free”
Why should it be???
Shifty didn’t say that it should be.
“Shifty didn’t say that it should be.”
I did not say that he said it should be. Your point?
Prolly misinterpreted your post…
No biggie – happens to me all the time . . .
Because you’re not sitting on anything my hand can’t do for free
“Because you’re not sitting on anything my hand can’t do for free”
Jack away – be my guest. I’m all for masturbation. I mean I come to FitsNews don’t I?
I was friends with the late Fred “Beep” Felder of Charleston, who took his life this summer.
Then I learned that he’d been arrested for soliciting prostitution and shown (third from left) on TV news:
http://www.live5news.com/story/22939802/11-nabbed-in-n-charleston-prostitution-sting.
The poor bastard was divorced, without female companionship, and had a normal sex drive.
So our society (which privately watches xhamster and other free porn sites) punishes and humiliates him.
I think that “sting” on Beep pushed Beep to suicide.
Shame on us.
Like marijuana, let us legalize and regulate prostitution.
I’m truly sorry for the loss of your friend, I’m in agreement with 90% of what you wrote.
But, why regulate it? To keep the busybodies happy or those always grubbing for more tax dollars? Or do you think that government will make picking up hookers safer? If government is going to regulate it, do you really think they could keep people like your friend Fred anonymous? Their track record says otherwise….
Maybe if North Charleston law enforcement spent less time infiltrating poker games, running traffic checkpoints and prostitution stings and more time investigating murders, robberies, assaults etc…there would be less of the latter.
Years ago, they ran a *sting* operation where they left the door to a garage open and busted people who tried to steal stuff from the garage. Business was good and many thieves were arrested. TBG will repeat, “THIEVES, you know…actual criminals!” This went on for a day or two and then TPTB decided it was “entrapment”, and they stopped doing it. Yet, they have been running “hooker/john stings” for as long as TBG can remember.
Maybe TBG thinks different from most…but TBG could care less if his neighbor frequents hookers. Stealing shit from TBG’s garage is a whole ‘nother matter!
Sincere condolences on the loss of your friend.
Sitting in an upstate New York jail back in my late 20’s I was contemplating calling my new bride and asking her to wire me some bail funds so that I could return home following a DUI while on a business trip.
The guy in line before me began explaining to his wife that he was being falsely charged with solicitation of prostitution.
Needless to say the idea of making the call got much easier. God bless her she has hung in there over the decades and I will never return to upstate New York – drunk or sober. They don’t like Southerners any more than we welcome the Yanks.
They are just college girls trying to pay rent.
Some girls at USC offer to “bring you to fruition for helping with her tuition” ……
Does Tom Davis, Chip Campsen, and Wes Hayes selling out and voting for Jean Toal count as prostitution? I think so.
THE BUSINESS OF SEX : It Isn’t Booming
Literally…it is.
“Heeeeeeey GI ….you want boom boom?”
