“REPUBLICAN” ESTABLISHMENT BEATS BACK MUTINY …

This website unabashedly supported the 2012 presidential campaign of former U.S. Rep. Ron Paul.  When Paul failed to win the GOP nomination, we did what any self-respecting lover of freedom and free markets would do – we endorsed the only candidate in the race who stood for the advancement of liberty and prosperity, former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson.

The “Republican” Party is dead to us … and if you were a supporter of Paul’s movement, it should be dead to you, too.  Especially in light of everything that’s gone down since the 2012 race (couple highlights HERE and HERE).

Anyway, against our advice many well-intentioned fiscally conservative, socially libertarian politicos sought to “change the GOP from within” in the wake of the 2012 election – ostensibly believing they could grab the rudder of that Ship of Fools and force an ideological U-turn.

They have failed … for many reasons.  Among them?  They put their faith (and their money) in thieves.  And bad ideas.  And weak thinkers.

They also blindly believed the old GOP “rule” – that all “Republicans” would get behind whichever candidate won the general election – applied to their candidates, too.

It didn’t …

Now the old-guard “Republicans” – with a capable assist from some new friends – have beaten back the rebellion within their ranks, thoroughly dispatching the 2014 Tea Party uprising.  In the wake of U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander‘s victory last week, the GOP establishment has gone 6-0 against Tea Party candidates – with fiscally liberal incumbents emerging victorious in Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

Obviously U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham‘s race in South Carolina is far from over … but the so-called “battle for the heart and soul of the Republican party” is over.  And the good guys lost.

Convincingly …

That’s good …

Well it’s not “good,” obviously … not from the standpoint of these liberal Senators remaining in Washington, D.C.

But it is good from the standpoint of ending – once and for all, we hope – this ridiculous notion that the “Republican” party can be reformed.  Or redirected.  Or “taken over.”

It can’t … it remains every bit the tool of the D.C. status quo as the Democratic Party, which the 2014 elections have proven conclusively.

In remarking on the 2010 victory of Tea Party favorite Christine O’Donnell in Delaware several years ago, we noted that “the only thing that saved Republicans from an eternity in the political wilderness was the socialist overreaching of the Obama administration and the mobilization of the Tea Party in response to it.”

We added that “Republicans gained power in 1994.  They gained even more power in 2000. And guess what? They totally and completely f*cked it up. Twice. Seriously … they screwed the pooch six ways from Sunday both times .

And let’s not forget what happened when they took back control of the U.S. House in 2011 … nothing but symbolic protest votes followed by a wholesale retreat when the rubber hit the road.

So … what on earth makes anyone think anything different is going to happen in the event the GOP “wins” in 2014?

Because nothing is going to change …

The only way to fix what’s wrong with this country is for a new party to emerge – one with principled leaders, common sense policies and articulate, inclusive messengers.  Absent that, the current path of unsustainable dependency, reckless monetary destabilization, dangerous global interventionism, excessive taxation and regulation, crony capitalism and the unconstitutional denial of our most fundamental liberties will continue no matter which party is in control .

So, throwing aside whether you like the GOP or Tea Party stance better for a minute – Tea Party peeps, ball’s in your court. Attempt to triangulate nationally and get something very minimal done or continue on the current path? Are you satisfied with being certain in your doctrinal purity but also shut out because you don’t have enough following and have many enemies inside and outside the GOP? Personally, I don’t think it’s possible to be influential nationally from the right of the current GOP party. Thoughts?

The mistake FITS and RINO’s make is they believe the ‘Tea Party’ is a political party. It is not. It is a movement of people that have the same beliefs-Constitutionalists with a love of country, an adherence and belief in the rule of law, limited government and a repect for life. They have been successful in pushing these ‘liberal’ Republicans to the ‘right’ and the 2014 mid-terms with show this. They will be the difference in Florida for Scott , in Ohio for Kasich and Haley in SC. They will hand the Republican establishment control of the senate in 2014.They are the reason since Obama was elected in 2008 the Republicans have control of 30 Governorship’s , control the House of Representatives , picked -up 2 senate seats and for the first time since the Civil War control a majority of BOTH the senate and house in a majority of states.
There would have been NO Ronald Reagan without the Moral Majority and there will never be another Republican President unless the Republican establishment hears their message and gets out of the way.
The Tom Ervin campaign in which he is polling at 2% is an example of what a ‘3rd Party’ would look like nationally. A disaster and an electoral landslide for the Democrat/Socialist Party in this country.

Could be. I think it’s easier to prove whether or not automotive exhaust causes climate change than to prove or disprove whether the tea party has had a positive or negative effect on national GOP chances. GOP standing has certainly improved in many states over the past several elections. Perhaps that is because the clueless Dem party is out of step with what goes on in those states, regardless of any tea party faction activity. Interesting.

The name of that group was Moral Majority. Not THE Moral Majority. It was neither moral, nor a majority. Just hype.
And saying the Tea Party is a movement of people with the same beliefs is a HUGE joke. Half are about fiscal responsibility. Half are about social conservatism. Half are about stopping the black dude in the White House. And there are several more halfs. And the biggest “Half” is a fancy organization run by Dick Armey, a former legislator, so it ought to, but doesn’t, carry the stench of the establishment power structure the tea party supposedly hates.
And yeah, so many halfs it is ironic that the people can’t do that basic math, but are concerned about the money.
It would help people to decide what one single issue is most important to them and start voting accordingly. Left and right, middle.

THE Moral Majority just like it is THE Ohio State University.
They elected Reagan 2X and would be defined as just and MORAL for the voice and services they provided to protect the sanctity of life.
Your comment about race confirms you are MAY be a racist and probably approved of the rioting in St.Louis last night. That is only way Obama has improved the economy for blacks in this country-having a DOJ that will them to loot and steal others property without consequences.
Most people are ‘single’ issue voters unless they are the 20% libatard/moderates who don’t believe in a damn thing. They are the ones destroying this country. Afraid to take a stand on any issue so they are ‘liked’.

Ok, but here is what ever poll out there shows 60+ percent of Americans agree on. Who is going to lead the charge?

Leave Social Security and Medicare alone.
Increase Taxes on the wealthy
Control the Border
Policies designed to prevent the mentally ill and former criminals from getting their hands on guns.
Insurance with no exclusion for pre-existing conditions.
A higher minimum wage
Higher tariffs on imported goods from China.

Try this:
Leave Social Security and Medicare alone for those 50 and over (grandfather them in-keep the promise)
Quit stealing money from the job creators
CLOSE the borders and deport illegals
Eliminate gun laws
Eliminate IRS fine for not having insurance until Obamacare is repealed
NO minimum wage. Pay people what they are worth.
Cut adults off of Food Stamps and ALL welfare programs. No work, no eat.Protect children.

The problem is those polled are as ignorant of the questions as they are of the subject matter. Since 58% of the US adult population never reads another book after high school. Since 42% of college graduates never read another book. Since 80% of US families did not buy or read a book last year. Since 57% of new books are not read to completion. Since most readers do not get past page 18 in a book they have purchased. Are polls really all that conclusive?

Bill August 11, 2014 at 11:34 am

Are polls that conclusive? Typical, you want an inclusive party that does not listen to those it wants to include. Sounds like the system we have now.

50+% of tea partiers are dumb rednecks, but their opinions still count.

Thomas August 11, 2014 at 11:39 am

If you can read then choose to not read, your anecdotal flippant bull shit makes sense…to you. And the wheels keep spinning in the blood soaked mud of total ignorance.

Bill August 11, 2014 at 12:00 pm

Ah, the age old cry of the oppressor. I know better. Everyone else is ignorant. I must make you listen to me, to my version of history..

And the blood soaked wheels of arrogance and oppression keep spinning.

Sandi Morals August 11, 2014 at 11:41 am

Ridiculous. That is like saying 98% of blacks are ignorant and stupid because they vote for Democrats. Their opinions and votes still count.

Sandi Morals August 11, 2014 at 11:38 am

True.Only an ‘uninformed’ voter that is dependent on government for survival could elect Obama 2x.

afmajret August 11, 2014 at 1:22 pm

I keep seeing those numbers on American reading trends on various discussion threads, but I’ve never seen a citation for where they came from. Now, Pew Research Center’s 2014 numbers show that only 23% of Americans didn’t read a book last year (http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2014/01/the-decline-of-the-american-book-lover/283222/), while the rest read an average of 5 each. Just saying.

Tom August 11, 2014 at 3:23 pm

They are BS numbers. Don’t even bother to try to find them.

Bill August 11, 2014 at 11:32 am

So your point is a successful party will be one that does what you want and not what a majority of Americans want. Makes sense.

Hitler and Obama had the support of their nation at a particular time in history.
Were they successful?

Bill August 11, 2014 at 12:18 pm

Successful at what? If you are asking was the entirety of their term a long term positive or negative for a majority of their people; I would history has ruled on Hitler and the answer is decidedly no. Obama’s term is not up yet, history has not ruled, the best we can say at this point is almost every aspect of the national economy is better than it was when he took office.

Sandi Morals August 11, 2014 at 12:58 pm

LMAO!!!! Gas is up 100% since Obama was anointed causing tremendous inflation at the supermarket.
Food Stamp participation has gone up 3x and the labor participation rate is at its lowest in 50 years (90 million adults not working).Folks 25-55 are not working….no jobs….55+ are working MORE at part-time jobs as their retirement and savings are being decimated by Obama’s economy and Obamacare.
Wall Street has done well as the Fed continues to print money and the speculators are getting rich.

Jack August 11, 2014 at 3:43 pm

Then I suggest you quit bitching and speculate.

Sailor August 11, 2014 at 3:47 pm

How anyone with half a brain would compare these two is beyond me, but for your information, Hitler was a great success in the beginning. In a mere 6 years (1933 to 1939) he pulled Germany out of the doldrums and built the greatest war machine that existed. Mind you, unlike Obama he didn’t face obstructionists at every turn. He had his own method of dealing with that problem.
If he hadn’t overreached and invaded Russia in June 1941, god only knows how things would have turned out.
Obama has done a fair job in turning the economy around, although it would have been much better if he didn’t have to deal with the party of NO.

Smirks August 11, 2014 at 5:19 pm

If we’re comparing Obama to Hitler, Obama’s got some catching up to do on the whole slaughtering Jews and invading half of the continent thing.

Sandi Morals August 11, 2014 at 5:31 pm

Obama is doing just fine. In his 6 years as pResident over 7,000,000 unborn children have been murdered and Planned Parenthood is getting millions.
Don’t give up on Obama and the Jews.Jury still out on that.

Smirks August 11, 2014 at 5:17 pm

The only power republicans have is to apply the breaks. They can only do this in a rather clumsy ways (sequester, debt limits) because they only control half of one branch of government.
Never the less, deficits have declined for five years straight. Gingrich’s Republican controlled Congress was able to accomplish welfare reform and deficit reduction at the end of a crippled Clinton administration.

I feel your pain but an obvious question needs to be answered. If those who share your views can’t change the Republican party from within, what makes you think you can win “out there” in the world beyond the GOP (a which is much bigger and probably even less receptive to your views).

The problem here are election laws that make it virtually impossible for a Third Party to compete on a level besides the top of the ticket, and the biggest problem is a lack of candidates and worse a lack of candidates who are willing to run a campaign that can win.

Dude, ANY political party, “new” or “old”, is nothing more than a collection of people with ideas and agendas and the problems that “people” bring. Building a “new” one isn’t going to get around that problem and will, in the meantime, leave another party victorious in the wake of division. The ONLY way to make a longterm difference is a steady infusion of enough people who give a damn and who will be PERSISTENT and bring enough people along with them who also give a damn and throw out the self-seekers and self-dealers…and then be ready to do it AGAIN and AGAIN, year after year.
