1961 CALLED …
The federal government used a $3 billion a year international HIV prevention program to foment dissent and recruit Cuban revolutionaries, according to an explosive new report from The Associated Press.
The goal? Overthrowing the nation’s communist regime – something they’ve been trying to do for the last fifty-four years.
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) – which is responsible for the anti-HIV program – inserted numerous young Central Americans into Cuba under humanitarian pretenses, the AP report reveals. Their real goal? “To generate a network of volunteers for social transformation,” according to a government document obtained by the wire service.
And according to that document, HIV prevention programs offered these young operatives “the perfect excuse” to recruit dissenters.
Wow …
The federal government’s efforts to influence the thinking of the Cuban people have become downright comical. Last year we picked up on the story of AeroMarti – a multi-million dollar program in which pro-American propaganda (99 percent of which is jammed) is beamed from airplanes into the island nation.
More recently, USAID was busted creating a fake Cuban social media network called ZunZuneo – which was also intended to foment political dissent. In fact the stated goal of the program was to induce a “Cuban Spring” in which mass protests would “renegotiate the balance of power between the state and society.”
Sheesh …
This website has consistently opposed the provision of foreign aid from U.S. taxpayers – even when it is offered under honest pretenses. It goes without saying this sort of insanity should never be tolerated.

We should just end the damn embargo and let Cuba do whatever the hell they want with their government.
Oh No! That might cause a revolution.
I tried to respond to CorruptionInColumbia and a message came up “You cannot reply to a post that is not active”. Hope that helps you CIC.

3rd Try. Thanks for trying to help and for acknowledging that my posts are visible for a short while at least, EJB. I don’t know if I’ve been banned or what is going on.
I think your problem is a Disqus issue, I don’t believe there is anything Mr. Folks can do but complain about it to the Disqus higher ups.
Several replies to me were noted as “being moderated” — and then they disappeared.
It’s the NSA working thru the USAID that is responsible for you problem, CIC.

Can’t. It’s a stove top type, but it can make an old rooster tender as a spring chicken.
I once put some chicken backs in one hoping the meat would fall off the bones, but ended up having to pick hundreds of small bones out.
The same was happening to me. When I changed to another made-up email address it went away . . . so far.
Spoken like a TRUE socialist. Support the murderous Castro regime while Putin sticks some missles in Cuba.
Putin’s sticking his muscle into a Cuban?
We don’t have an embargo with communist China. That doesn’t seem to bother you.
Care to put your money where your mouth is and boycott Walmart so you don’t support the murderous Mao regime?
Anyone working to overthrow the Communist regime in the US? LMAO…
Anyway: Kennedy double-crossed to wrong people. Got a good write up on the whole thing. If you are student of Oliver Stone, it may be good to get educated. Come on over and rad it, if you have an open enough mind, to hearing something you may not want to accept.
Very good read, and very under-reported piece on WHO killed JFK and why. If you are a product of history revisionists, you likely have NO idea who killed Kennedy. The left has a hard time accepting the truth: http://scpoliticaldigest.com/
I read this elsewhere yesterday or the day before.
I wonder what Jimmy Buffett would have to say about illegal immigration these days – here’s his take from 20 years ago –
It was was ninety miles to freedom, But they took the risk
Though ocean was all motion, And the wind was brisk
The deadly gunboats never saw them, In the pale moonlight
They were off to Cayo Hueso*, By the dawn’s early light
The gringo in the garden called the custom’s man
They answered all his questions, Were allowed to land
The ladies shared a hairbrush, And their husbands had a coke
And they were taken up to Krome*, To meet with there kin folk
Chorus:
Everybody’s got a cousin in miami
(everybody’s got a cousin in miami)
Everybody understands the impromptu
Dancing in the heat to the beat
That turns your clothing clammy (ooooohhhhh)
Everybody needs to have a dream come true
*Cayo Hueso is the Spanish name for Key West
*Krome is the Immigrations Detention Center in Miami – they still deport Cubans despite the “dry foot” policy, almost any other Caribbean will be rapidly deported.
COLUMBIA — Republican Gov. Nikki Haley touts moving 20,000 S.C. residents from welfare-to-work in a new campaign ad, featuring a woman who credits Haley’s program with helping her get a job.
The 30-second television spot, released first to The State, is called “Paychecks” and features Paula Martin, a Spartanburg resident and Adidas employee, who credits Haley’s welfare-to-work program for helping her get a job.

Good job Haley staff picking the most get to looking woman to pretend you are appealing to the black voters….good work you stupid fucks..
It has just hit me that you are actually an isolationist. You believe if we just let things be other people will leave the US be. You want no US interference in any other country even if to help turn them to allies or at least be in a state of ambivalence with regard to the US. The Soviets (might as well admit they have gone back to that old form) and the Chinese have no qualms about influencing other countries. They won’t even settle for a state of ambivalence towards the US, they want countries to dislike, even hate, the US. The Soviets and Chinese are out there actively working to undermine and harm the US at every opportunity and they are succeeding. Then here comes your philosophy, we should stand by and do nothing to counter the Soviet and Chinese moves.
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

Wish you would rethink your position. No, we don’t want to go in and overthrow a government just because we don’t like the way they paint their government buildings but we do need to actively work to steer events that leave governments that are more friendly towards the US. The way the current administration is doing things is obviously not right but neither is sloth. We need to work at least as hard as the Soviets and the Chinese are.
The situation in Cuba has much less to do with the legitimate national security and foreign policy interests of the U.S. than it does with GOP politics in Florida. The long-term alliance between a zealous minority of Cubans in South Florida and the rednecks of the northern belt (Jacksonville to Pensacola) keep the Republicans viable in the state.
Who keeps the Democrats viable in the state? Illegal immigrants and voter fraud.
Voter fraud?
That’s an element in the recent overturn of Florida’s redistricting map which revealed such blatant gerymandering even a state judge couldn’t swallow it.

I have witnessed the ex-pat Cubans, I used to live down there, but I must disagree with you about the legitimacy of foreign policy interests. The Soviets will put missiles in Cuba when they can. Just because some of us choose not to believe the Soviets are a threat doesn’t mean Putin will ignore an opportunity.
If we continue to let the Soviets and Chinese have unhampered success in turning governments to their side we shall indeed find ourselves alone. At that time it will turn into a siege of sorts and just by looking around at the sorry state of politics in this country today it isn’t hard to imagine an America that takes her cues from communist dictators.
Soviets? You used ‘Soviet(s) seven times. Perhaps Putin is a Neo-soviet.
The Soviets! EJB is in a Cold War time warp!
“There are none so blind as those who refuse to see.”
Lift the foolish Cold War-era embargo, flood Cuba with American tourists, dollars, and investment capital and watch how quickly any Russian or Chinese influence evaporates. We have a long close history with Cuba. The Cubans are aching to reestablish ties with us. Our current policies only strengthen the Castros, Russia, China and Republican Cubans in Miami.
I agree with you and don’t understand why the ex-pat Cubans don’t want to lift the embargo. The ex-pats would have a leg up and with the money they have accumulated here would make a killing. Problem is handling the transition. The Soviets like the Chinese are managing a somewhat capitalist system with communist (and crony) reins. Finding a way to break that connection while lifting the embargo and establishing normal relations would be key.
When it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and looks like a duck I don’t have to wait for it to be served to me in a Chinese restaurant as Peking Duck to call it a duck.

Embargo makes no sense. Would be an especially good market for our poultry industry.
