FORMER GOVERNOR DISCUSSES “DISS” ON CHARLESTON RADIO SHOW
Not long ago, former S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford was the focus of an expansive piece in The New York Times magazine – an article which exposed a not-so-secret spat between him and his successor, Gov. Nikki Haley.
According to the narrative, Haley never expressed appreciation to Sanford after he authorized $400,000 worth of advertising for her in the spring of 2010 – money which transformed her from a last-place rabble rouser into a legitimate contender with loads of momentum.
Not only did Haley never thank Sanford, she refused to help the former governor’s son get a ticket to a University of South Carolina football game.
Sanford didn’t discuss the spat with the magazine – nor did he discuss it with us in a follow-up post we wrote.
(Nor has he discussed whether the money he agreed to allocate to pro-Haley ads was technically legal).
Anyway, Sanford did address the issue this week during an appearance on Charleston, S.C. radio (WTMA 1250 AM).
“Mark Sanford was on the show today and confirmed that Nikki Haley never thanked him for that $400,000 he gave her that saved her (gubernatorial) campaign,” WTMA host Tara Servatius told us.
Here’s the clip …
Ouch …
Sanford and Haley began sparring way back during the 2010 campaign, when she began reneging on her commitment to fiscal conservatism after winning the GOP nomination. Those fences have never really been mended, although Sanford has generally refrained from publicly criticizing Haley – and vice versa.

Boohoo, watch the game on TV?
When are the idiots who support these Royal candidates going to realize they live above the rest of us, feel high and mighty and above the rest of us and live off of our sweat and toils!
Is that the “Appalachian Trail” in the picture off his left shoulder?
I can’t say as I blame him for being “on the Trail” every chance he could.
Yes it is.
However, she has more hooks in the water than a Jap long liner!
Such a conundrum. She still nibbles at his bait, but has yet to be hooked.
She looked bored and aloof.
Only two individuals would not be bored at Sanfraud’s pontificating. Sic Willie and carpetbagger Davis. They would be orgasmic.
Meow…… CAT FIGHT!!!!
King of entitlement. He thinks he was entitled to that ticket. And of course he wanted it gratis.
What are you talking about? This has nothing to do with entitlement. If you did someone a favor — like getting someone a job (which, in effect, is what the Sanford endorsement did for Nikki Haley) then the decent thing — then you try to reciprocate in some way. Simple as that. Back in the day, people did not have to be reminded of things like that. And a simple thank-you note is not asking too much either.
Welcome to the Age of Entitlement. Political prominence means never having to say you’re sorry…or thank you either. Maybe Mark regrets his efforts in Queen-making now?
Back scratching is not what we need in politics. Sanford only cast one vote for Haley, if that many, the same as me. I didn’t ask for a game ticket.
So haley is willing to boot Darla Moore off the USC BOT to replace her with some lackey supporter who donated $5k to her campaign, but not willing to get the son of a former governor who supported her a football ticket? She sounds reasonable.
Maybe Haley felt entitled to the money in some weird way. Like hush money for discreet services rendered (please don’t tell Jenny)? Sanford disguised the shakedown as funds for advertising. But Sanford also being an entitled, oblivious sort, still expected the ego kibbles and an outright public gratification.
Yep, spot on. Two sociopaths jockeying for good PR at the expense of the other. Is it too much to hope they both lose? (or has it already happened?)
If you’re going to spin crazy rumors, Tangled Web, why not throw in intravenous drugs with contaminated needles, bondage, and international espionage? Why stop with extortion and run-of-the-mill accusations of marital infidelity? C’mon. Where’s your imagination?
These two players represent what all political parties should be denouncing. Their actions are open to spin and speculation because they have both demonstrated their abilities to play with the public. I leave that kind of intrigue (drugs, bondage and espionage) to Business Insider or the Enquirer. The marital infidelities and “line crossings” are all very neatly on the books. What is run of the mill are the inner workings and behaviors of these disordered personalities: Haley and Sanford. Connecting dots can explain the motivations of these troubled personas. You don’t have to be on-board with it.
Even Sanford sees Haley for what she is a self centered lying witch!!!!! Thats all you need to know in November folks. Checked your social security and banks accounts lately
I never cease to be amazed that a women can have that large and Adam’s apple and still be considered a women.
She reads on the beach and it creates a shadow OR they pulled her real tight after a lifestyle lift and it accentuates the Adams Apple.
Just like Nikki.
Why are there always police cars at the Governor’s Grant home owned by the Haleys?
The fences are mended. Haley nominated Rep Scott in SC-1 so Sanford could get a shot in retaking his old Congressional seat. All is well? Haley reneged on just about every campaign pledge and Sanford is a recalcitrant adulterer whom both are not fit to be reelected. They both are disgusting governors the likes of which this state has not seen.
Or… Rep. Scott was nominated because he is well-liked and respected in Charleston and D.C.. Sanford is divorced because his was an unhappy marriage. And Haley had to deal with the reality of the South Carolina governor having less authority than the S.C. Legislature.
Oh, the ironies. The Philanderer in Chief of the State’s militia was AWOL with an “indiscretion” in the works, yet nobody will account for the conduct of a married “sex hobbyist” under the command. (Will you Adjutant General Livingston?).
But somehow, this is all Ervin’s fault, right?
The worst in the nation government school system is at fault.
Since Sanfraud and Hailey went to private school I think we can blame our worst in the nation private schools.
No. Ervin apparently supports the ‘slippery slope ‘ concept of state sanctioned gay marriage and then why via ‘legal precedent’ can’t a person marry their dog or a father marry their daughter or polygamy being state sanctioned or a pedophile having a state sanctioned right to marry their victim? Scalia (SCOTUS) has written in regards to this.
Issues such as abortion and legalizing drug use have exposed Democrats/Liberals/Socialists as a family of radicals that have no limits in their pursuit of perversion and lawlessness. The concept of legal abortion became a license for partial-birth abortion , infanticide and death panels for the most vulnerable in our society. Legalizing medical ‘pot’ became a license for the radical left to legalize and poison our children with dangerous drugs.
The spat between Sanford and Haley is not a story, The real story is faux Christian conservative Ervin apparently advocates for deviant behavior and lifestyles. That should concern families in SC , in my opinion.
Sleight? I do believe the wrong word was used. It should have been “slight.” As in “He was slighted (meaning “snubbed”) by her.” A especially unforgiveable error for a journalist in a headline! I know grammar has been given a back seat these days, but come on!
The word is slight, not sleight. One is an insult caused by a failure to show someone proper respect or attention, the other is the use of dexterity or cunning, especially so as to deceive. Neither of these asshats qualifies as dexterous or cunning.
” Neither of these asshats qualifies as dexterous or cunning”
LOL This is the best comment I’ve read on here in a long time – you done good, Colonel!
Is that why FITS made his infamous claim?
Columbia, SC (WLTX) – Lawmakers and review boards are beginning to
suggest changes for the embattled South Carolina Department of Social
Services after a number of child deaths and unfavorable reviews.
One
of the potential changes is aimed at a policy DSS calls “screening
out,” where cases are turned over to non-profits or not investigated at
all.
“We were saying before you send a case to the program you
need to investigate,” said Donna Xenakis, chair of the South Carolina
Citizen’s Review Panel. “They were saying no.”
The Citizen’s
Review Panel is a federally mandated group that audits DSS practices and
procedures. Less than a year ago, the group wrote a letter asking for
emergency changes after the death of 4 year old Columbia boy Robert
Guinyard Junior. Previous Coverage: ‘The System Failed Robert’
Despite
multiple reports to DSS, Robert’s case was initially screened out and
not recommended for a DSS investigation. The decision meant a
non-profit and not state investigators originally handled the case.
Internal DSS audits show in 9 of 11 Midlands counties, policy violations happened when screening cases our of their care.
In the audits, county DSS offices randomly select a number of cases of review.
Among selected cases in Lexington, Newberry, and Saluda counties, DSS admits policy violations in 90%-100% of the screen outs.
Violations Include:
1. Supervisors not consulting with one another before screening a case out.
2. Caseworkers not contacting collateral sources like law enforcement of medical professionals.
3. DSS not accepting a report even though the allegations met the legal definition of maltreatment.
“What’s
concerning about that is recognizing that while some of the calls may
not be life threatening, we can’t know that until an investigation is
started,” said Sue Berkowitz with Appleseed Legal Justice.
A
senate subcommittee investigating DSS right now says along with the
Citizens Review, they want the screen out process re-evaluated.
“I
like the concept but I don’t like the way it’s been implemented thus
far,” said Senator Joel Lourie (D-Richland) “So, we’ve got a lot of
work to do there or we, at least I, would support getting rid of it.”
The
county office audits are required every 5 years, but DSS has decided to
conduct them every year and twice a year in it’s larger counties.

“We
have a process for identifying those challenges and that’s what we’re
proud of,” said Malik Whitaker, a DSS Regional Director. “These are
areas needing improvement.”
The Citizens’ Review Panel says the
audits show why they’ll continue their efforts and why they believe the
screen out process needs to change.
“They are still saying no were
not going to do that,” Xenakis said. “Basically the answer to
everything we recommended that we thought would keep children safe was
not, not taken well.”
Death by making my numbers look good Haley..

Awww…poor Markie. He was slighted. Didn’t get free football tickets. Mean old Nikki. What a tragedy! Did he cry?
Legally Haley is not supposed to collaborate and coordinate with outside groups, thanking him would create doubt about that.
Thank you and tickets are petty. Haley did the right thing.
…she refused to help the former governor’s son get a ticket to a University of South Carolina football game.
Another abject failure of our governor-run Sakerlina football ticket acquisition program.
After this…no sane person can oppose Stubhub vouchers…
NIKKI HALEY ONLY CARES ABOUT NIKKI HALEY!
