You got that right. The Greenville News is essentially a booster publication whose predominant goal is to protect the moneyed class. It reverses H.L. Mencken’s view of the role of newspapers because it comforts the comfortable while afflicting the afflicted.

The real scandal involving Rick Erwin is that he used his position on the Greenville City Council to ban food trucks from downtown Greenville, thereby using his position of public trust to protect his own business interests from competition.
He is not on city council and never has been.
When was he on Greenville City Council? The City of Greenville has no record of him serving . . .
