CRITICS THINK GOVERNOR SHOULD STAY IN SOUTH CAROLINA

S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley‘s latest fundraising trip to the Lone Star State is being questioned by one of her 2014 rivals.

Tom Ervin – a self-styled “independent Republican” – says Haley’s visit to the RedState.com conference in Forth Worth, Texas this week comes at a time when she should be attending to scandals at her Department of Social Services (SCDSS).  Specifically, Ervin questioned Haley’s commitment to the Palmetto State in the wake of an ABC News report alleging that SCDSS was partly responsible for the death of more than six dozen children.

“The same week that a national news organization uncovered four DSS workers, who warned more children under South Carolina’s care are in harms way, Governor Haley is leaving the state for a political retreat to raise money,” a statement from Ervin’s campaign read.  “The DSS warnings come after 76 children died in the care of our state last year. We need a Governor who is committed to running our state, not one who runs from it to raise money.”

National Democrats also pounded Haley on the SCDSS scandal – accusing her of “tragic mismanagement, negligence, and coverups.”

Ironically, the criticisms come as Haley launched a television ad touting the “welfare-to-work” gains achieved by the SCDSS – gains this website has previously exposed as fraudulent.

What do you think?  Should Haley go to Texas or not?  Vote in our poll and post your thoughts in our comments section below …

The only thing that would make that picture any scarier would be a blackboard in front of her that she could claw.

Hard to imagine a worse governor.

Illinois has had some pretty bad Governors, along with Mississippi.

That’s true. Illinois at least had some closure when Ryan and Blagojevich went to prison.

One party rule is bad regardless of which party rules. The safer the seat, the safer it is for corruption.

I think if folks focused more on local government, then it wouldn’t matter which Party was in power, because no politician would be safe.

As a citizen of North Carolina, I demand, Mr. Smith, or whoever you are … an apology for that deeply offensive comment! : )

If Tom Ervin’s wife would give the Haley Campaign as much money as she has apparently given Democrat Vincent Sheheen and the SC Democrat Party maybe Haley wouldn’t have to leave the state and raise money?
Just a thought.

How bad must a Republican incumbent be to have to leave the state of South Carolina to raise money?

Incumbents/political candidates do it all the time. I bet Elizabeth Colbert Bush didn’t take those trips to D.C. and New York to see the Nationals and Mets. :-)

Good to see that democrats who lose elections are the haley campaigns hallmark of ethical behavior.

If she hired competent people to run DSS in her absence, I wouldn’t care.

There shouldn’t be a DSS in the first place.

Right. Let kids and families fend for themselves.

Go do your homework and see if you can find something about the state acting in loco parentis.

Never mind. Clearly a bridge too far.

Nothing has changed @ SC DSS. Ex-Director Koller’s cronies are still running the show and running it into the ground. Children and families are still in serious danger with these fools in charge. DSS Employees are threatened daily by these managers. Jessica Hanak-Coulter (she sure was sweating bullets while testifying/lying to the Senate Sub-Committee) and her Regional Directors are just as incompetent as Koller and Blanco were. Absolutely zero case management or supervisory experience in Child Protective Services. They all need to be fired along with the acting Director who (you guessed it) was brought in by Koller from another State. Haley and these folks time is running out as the November election looms closely.

WHERE DID SHE GET THE $ 1,500,000 TO LOAN TO ANYBODY????????

Reply
tomstickler August 5, 2014 at 4:24 pm

This is worth looking into. Apparently, she was considered a good enough credit risk for a bank to lend money to her at an attractive rate, then she turns around and lends it out to someone else at a higher rate.

The interesting part will be to see what security she put up to get her loan and what was mortgaged to her for what she lent. Public records, people. Start digging.

Surely you recognize that Sic Willie structures his “polls” to leave you little choice but the result he wants. If this poll was just yes/no the result would be different.

4 more years! Come on guys, it is all about Leatherman (POS-Florence). Haley is reelected in 2014. In 2016 she is asked to join the newly elected Republican’s administration. Leatherman is then forced to step up to Lt Gov to fill in McMaster’s Lt Gov seat. Think poetic justice.

Nikki has one goal in mind, and that is to get the hell out and away from SC. She will take anything that she thinks is a step up even if means crawling over other folks’ back. She won’t look back. There is a medical term for her disorder but I don’t remember the name at this moment.

Inflict harm (health problems) in others to bring positive attention to yourself and basically get your emotionally needs met? Sounds like Munchausen’s Syndrome By Proxy.

If this was a situation other than government, she would be brought up on criminally negligent charges. She has acted no different than the parent/guardian that left the child in the car during extreme temperatures. Ultimately, she is responsible and accountable! She just does not care about our children nor our State!

Haleys office sent a survey around to all state employees asking what is acceptable behavior for state employees. This was another bullshit state agency she has formed to monitor state employees, one most likley which will be filled as director by a former army colonel ao her husband can be promoted again. One of the questions asked was how much in
value a state employee
should be allowed to accept
as a gift? Well how much taxpayer money has she used to campaign for out of state money?

After 20 years of the cabinet system, destruction of the SC Merit System to turn hiring at state agencies into cronyism, are we left with HR and other managers who don’t have a clue on how to hand out state and agency handbooks that detail does and don’ts for state employees?
Putting that stuff on a computer and telling people to read it is not the same as meeting and discussing the material. I thought we baby boomers had done a piss poor job, but it appears the Gen Xers running things now are REAL idiots.

Well I read the poll in today’s paper and see that she’ll beat Sheheen 100 days from now, riding the wave of mindless “show me the letter R” voters. The only thing good about Haley is her ass and her legs, so I guess we’ll have more pictures of those (growing) parts of her body. Thank you, Lee Atwater.

Has nothing to do with Lee Atwater. You idiots didn’t learn your lesson from ECB v Sanford SC1. That political race should be required reading for ANY political candidate running against a liberal or RINO in a ‘red state’.
I am impressed with Haley’s campaign team. They figured it out.
