PRESIDENTIAL BATTLE LINES BEING DRAWN …
U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida) is clarifying comments made during a recent interview with National Public Radio (NPR) about former Secretary of State/ Senator/ First Lady Hillary Clinton.
“I just think she’s a 20th century candidate,” Rubio told the network last month. “I think she does not offer an agenda for moving America forward in the 21st century, at least not up till now.”
Some viewed Rubio’s comments as implying that Clinton, 66, was too old to run for president.
In an interview on Fox News, Rubio said that his comments were directed toward antiquated thinking – not a commentary on the 23-year age gap between the two presidential hopefuls.
“You can be forty years old and be a 20th century candidate,” he said, adding that “we are going through the equivalent of an industrial revolution every five years and I don’t think she or her party, and quite frankly, even some people in my party, have answers to that.”
That’s for damn sure … although the last time we checked Rubio wasn’t advancing 21st century answers, either. On multiple fronts.
Nonetheless, Rubio’s line of attack against Clinton has been praised by Washington pundits – with one of them referring to it as “the single best argument against Hillary Clinton’s presidential prospects today.”
“The point Rubio is driving at is that Clinton is politics past, not politics future – that her ideas might work well back in the 1990s when her husband was president but that times have changed since then and the Clintons have not changed with them,” Chris Cillizza of The Washington Post noted. “Implicit in that argument, of course, is that Clinton’s time has passed – that it’s time for a new generation to step forward.”
Cillizza added – correctly in our estimation – that we should expect to see GOP candidates making this argument against Clinton more frequently as the public starts paying closer attention to the 2016 election.

Lol…like Rubio has a chance of being Prez.
You people elected a muslim with Marxist ‘values’ as pResident. Why not Rubio?
Muslim, huh? Marxist values (You mean like the Romney’s healthcare?)
I take it the the “p” is silent? Very witty…
Marxist values (You mean like the Romney’s healthcare?)
Absolutely.

I’m absolutely floored.
This is the same party that ran McCain, who was older at the time, as well as having a history of health problems. Which, really, wouldn’t have been a problem if the person who would have been a heartbeat away from replacing him wasn’t Sarah Palin.
I can think of a million reasons I would rather have someone other than Hillary, but her age? And this is the “single best argument against Hillary Clinton?”
Jesus, has the GOP already conceded 2016?
“Jesus, has the GOP already conceded 2016?”
Jesus said yes.
The GOP just can’t get out of the way of the Clinton Express….and stuffing their feet into their mouths isn’t going to increase their odds of avoiding it either….they manage to insult a big demographic-old people….lol….brilliant strategery in Bush speak.
Jewish voters will provide Republicans the difference in 2016. They finally understand that Obama and democrats are willing to see Israel destroyed. Listen to Joe Lieberman.
Jews are only 5% of the electorate HOWEVER are the difference in states like Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Goodbye Hillary.
It is not nice to ask a woman her age or make reference to woman’s age. Wonder if that will cause Mario to lose womens’ votes.
You have to have something in order to lose it.
Her age is not the problem. Besides the fact she is evil and more liberal than Obama, the ‘brain trauma’ she apparently suffered from the strokes(?) and those Jerry Lewis type glasses ( ‘Absent Minded Professor”) she walks around in, makes her unelectable in 2016.
2008: “Obama is the most liberal presidential candidate ever! Even further left than Hillary!”
2016: “Hillary is the most liberal presidential candidate ever! Even further left than Obama!”
Dat propaganda coming full-circle.
Hilary’s one regret about her age: Her secret fantasy is that she was born too late to be a prison guard at
Auschwitz.
I guess I am just confused. How will the GOP complain about Hillary’s age and simultaneously use the name Ronald Reagan over and over again as the greatest President in history. I believe old Ronnie was 69 when he was first elected. Exactly the same age Hillary will be on election day.
Well, I guess they can do what they normally do and just ignore the facts and pretend they aren’t all hypocrites.
Mr. Folks has suckered you in with a misleading headline. Mr. Rubio’s comments were not about her age, he qualifies his statement to that affect, rather it is about her “antiquated” ideas. Read the article and pay a little less attention to the headline, of course that will leave you with fewer opportunities to bash Republicans, as the song goes, “into every life a little rain must fall”.
“of course that will leave you with fewer opportunities to bash Republicans…”
It would only matter if such opportunities were in short supply.
If they were, the Republicans would quickly produce more.
So is he is saying we need to choose between Clinton’s 20th Century ideas and the Republicans 19th Century ideas?

The last time the US had a balanced budget, Bill Clinton was the President and Newt Gingrich was Speaker of the House. Both were cheating on their wives at the time – go figure.
Actually, the “balanced budget” is a Left talking point…it wasn’t balanced…not even close…they just shuffled shit off the balance sheet and said it was. Just the SS costs alone made it very red.
The closest anyone came after Nixon disconnected from gold was Carter and he came very close…like around only 1% deficit for a year or two if memory serves me correctly.
USA’s first default – leaving the gold standard in 1971.
Rubio’s too thirsty. Give that man some water.
That’s one ugly bitch. Who wants to look at her for 4 or 8 years. Sheeeesh!
That’s the same thing the Dems said about McCain and Reagan, for me all I have to do is look at her dismal record as Sec of State.
It’s not only her age and liberal, socialistic views, that damn woman is not only old, she’s ugly. The face of America needs to be pretty like mine. Cool Hand Luke
NO MORE Clinton crooks.
NO MORE Bush crooks.
What a douche bag. Didn’t his mama teach him to respect his elders?
I think Marco Rubio is too stupid…and, too thirsty.
