BUT WHY?
The Emerald Isle seems to be becoming a popular destination for members of the U.S. Congress …
U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran (RINO-Mississippi) took a trip to Ireland in the third quarter of 2012 – one that appears to have been paid for out of the Senate Appropriations Committee budget.
U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah (D-Pennsylvania) took an official trip to Ireland last year, as did Rep. Mike Turner (RINO-Ohio). Fattah’s trip appears to have been paid for out of the House Appropriations Committee’s budget, while Turner’s appears to have been paid for out of the House Oversight Committee’s budget.
Three Congressmen – Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (RINO-Florida), Henry Cuellar (D-Texas), and William Keating (D-Massachusetts) – went on an official trip to Ireland last spring. And U.S. Sen. Pat Leahy has also traveled to Island on the taxpayer dime in the last few years.
So … what are all these left-leaning “Republicans” and Democrats studying? Because it clearly isn’t the tax climate. If it was, then we might be looking at lowering the United States’ corporate tax rate from 40 percent (the highest in the world) to something more consistent with Ireland’s 12.5 percent rate.
Anyway … we’ll be inquiring into these congressional offices about the purpose of these trips (and the views of each lawmaker on corporate tax rates) while at the same time keeping a close eye on congressional travel to Ireland for any future trips.

Ahhh…let me guess. Free vacations on the taxpayers’ dime?
Let me say, Bingo. Pubs new location to relax from screwing us. Good work- Manray!
… AND Democrats, it would appear.
That could be true also,
I don’t think milking the public cow is a partisan effort. Everyone gets in on the act.
Inquire all you want but if you ain’t their constituent don’t be surprised if they ignore you.
They’d ignore will if he lived next door…
Meanwhile, Republicans prefer to skinny-dip in the Red Sea on a junket to Israel.
Need you ask why? As my best friend put it after a vacation to Ireland- “You would love it there. Lots of black-haired, blue-eyed, really hot women. Not to mention all the cute redheads.”
What’s maybe even worse are the trips that Congressmen take that are paid for by outside groups. Like Mark and Maria (after permission from the Congressional wives) to Israel last year on what was once Eric Cantor’s annual Dead Sea junket — where there had been some Congressional skinny dipping the year before.
Or, the Congressional trips funded by The Fellowship/The Family/C Street/et al where they go as evangelists, but get through the mass murdering African dictators’ doors to preach by virtue of being US Congressmen.
There is some transparency when Congress is paying for the trip. But, they are totally under the radar when some other group is footing the bill.
Ireland was known as the “Celtic Tiger” a few years back but since the 2008 implosion it has lost its zest.
The sad truth is that that a lot of Irish are leaving and SNEAKING into the US ILLEGALLY and are being replaced by African and Asian populace
As a Celt myself I hate to see it but that is the new norm in the global world.
Politicians are probably going there for caucasian poon-tang as long as it lasts.
Those slugs are the first to know where a good piece of ass can be had on the cheap.
Again, sad but true.
A few years back it was Poland and Ukraine but that supply has been used up.
