PAYMENTS TO THE LEFT-LEANING AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION RAISE RED FLAGS

This website has never been a fan of William Hubbard … the University of South Carolina trustee who is taking over as president of the left-leaning American Bar Association (ABA).  You know, while keeping his crony capitalist gig at the school …

Anyway, we’ve made our distaste for Hubbard’s brand of taxpayer-subsidized enrichment perfectly clear in the past … and will no doubt continue to make it perfectly clear in the future.

It’s nothing personal … we just don’t appreciate our tax dollars going to advance this guy’s business interests and political career.  To wit:  We checked out the University’s “spending transparency” website recently (as we are wont to do from time to time) and found some curious disbursements from USC to the ABA.

In 2012-12, USC paid out a total of $25,072 to the organization.  In 2012-13, that number climbed to $33,550.  Most of the money went to “contributions and dues,” while the rest went to “supplies.”

No word yet on how much the organization received in 2013-14 budget – or how much it was promised in the 2014-15 (current) budget.  It is curious, though, that the cash outlays to the ABA started going up around the time Hubbard started positioning himself for ABA president – and running his reelection campaign for the USC board.

Whatever you think of the ABA’s far left agenda – which includes government-subsidized abortion, an assault weapons ban and other top ticket items of the Democratic establishment – there’s no way in hell South Carolina taxpayers should be funding it.

Especially not in light of Hubbard’s conflict …

Members of the S.C. General Assembly have been quick to strip ideologically driven funding out of the state’s higher ed budget in the past.  Maybe they should do so in this case, too?

lol…”supplies”….so is USC the ABA’s Suger Daddy now or are the “supplies” new graduates that can’t get jobs and are doing clerical work for the ABA staff?

The supplies are law books, you dipshits.

So what do you need a university for if you guys are getting books from them?

Are you even getting them from the law school? My money says you get them from the biology department, the Biology of the Digestive System, right?

How else will your members learn how to properly anally penetrate your clients?

I’ve got an idea for you, why doesn’t the ABA pay for their own books? You know, with member fees and donations. Lawyers make enough, right?

After two decades of Republican rule there is nothing left to screw the taxpayers out of. The GOP’s SC legacy, decaying, dumb and debt ridden.

Want some more insight? Just FOIA the ABA invoices and the School’s purchase orders authorizing said “supplies”.

The ABA is a joke. They called me the other day offering me a free 6 month membership. I declined.

I have a cousin who is a brilliant attorney even though he never graduated from law school. He settled out of class. He says that most attorneys practice because it gives them a grand and glorious feeling. Hand them a grand and they feel glorious. His law office was held up recently – the stickup man lost two hundred dollars.

A lawyer’s wife was unhappy with the condition of their home. The furniture was old and dirty, the drapes torn, and the carpet half eaten away. In fact, she demanded a complete renovation.

The lawyer said, “Look, dear. I just got a new divorce case today. As soon as I break up their home, we’ll start fixing up ours!”

You do know, FITS, the the ABA is the accreditation body for law schools in the United States. Graduating from an ABA accredited school is a requirement for sitting for the Bar Exam. This is far less scandalous than you make it out to be.

The ABA is as corrupt as can possibly be. It was proven several years ago and reported on this website – through Sic’s connections on a judiciary committee – that the ABA wrote a bogus self serving report claiming that Jean Toal was running an honest discipline system for judges and lawyers in South Carolina. Members of both the SC House and Senate Judiciary Committees quickly learned that Toal had herself written large sections of the study. Even McConnell’s office staff was openly laughing about the report at watering holes in town and could even recite specific quotes from the report that were flat out not true.

And let’s not forget that the esteemed ABA let Toal lie to her other 4 justices about the 2007 Bar exam so she could save Alex Sanders’ law school in Charleston – i.e. to keep it accredited. That move came to fruition this year for Sanders when he was able to sell his shares for millions $$$$. Of course, as has been written on this site several times, it appears clear that U.S. Attorney in SC, Bill Nettles has not permitted any investigations into Toal’s innumerable questionable actions – as his children are the recipients of Sanders’ new money. My, my, my.

I asked a House member about this post this past weekend over a cold adult beverage. He snickered, then laughed telling me if the public only knew how bad and corrupt Toal is, the masses would be taking the old Post Office down. She plays one legislator against another, she swaps and trades like a sleazy broker on Wall Street, she lies with ease and manipulates the lawyer legislators while laughing in their faces. Leatherman protects her because she helps him out assigning friendly judges where he needs them and protecting his “boy” Reynolds Williams from any attorney discipline. It’s pathetic was his assessment.

He also added that he does not know of a single lawyer in South Carolina who gives a gator’s ass about the ABA or William Hubbard.

What a bartender! When I asked him for something tall, cold and full of gin, he sent his wife over.

Bartenders are asking for more overtime pay – time and a
fifth!

Two drunks saw a guy siphoning gas from a car. One said to
the other, “I hope I never get that thirsty!”

Two drunks found themselves on a roller coaster. One says, “We’re making great time, but I’m not sure we’re on the right bus!”
