Withholding tax is no joke, the tax bureaucrats drop the hammer on that shit…fines, penalties, all sorts of shit.

Does anyone know if it was on her own salary or did she have employees that she wasn’t making payment for?

I wonder if she cleared them up or if they are still outstanding…

I thought adding Mike Haley’s brains to the team after his deployment would juice her administration. This author was slow on being right. One and done.

I’m so hurt and ashamed by my Queen Nikki.
She is just getting caught in every lie and dirty deal imaginable.
We thought we had all covered up and could continue the misdirection with our spin and propaganda.
nikki, if you are going to continue getting caught in your screw ups , you’re going to have to raise my pay and give me more time to keep defending you!

Uhhhh, isn’t Gale Bell a man? The joint tax returns are/were in the name of Gale and Alison Bell – or did SC legalize same sex marriage in 1993 and we just didn’t hear about it?

The AICPA and the SCACPA are very very proactive in promoting professional ethics in the industry. Both organizations have a “Code of Conduct” that each member must follow which includes filing and paying your taxes in a timely manner. Members can lose their CPA license and or be subject to severe fines if they are found to have violated the Code of Conduct.

But after further review, Gale Bell of Irmo, SC is not a CPA. He is a Accounting Practictioner which is not nearly the same. I guess he doesn’t have to abide by the Code of Conduct.
In summary, Nikki has appointed a dead beat, non-CPA to the Accountancy Board!

As a member of the Accountancy Board, I wonder how Mr. Gale is going to be able to objectively hear and decide on suspensions and penalties for CPA licensees that are in violation due to failure to pay taxes?

So, are there no qualifications for getting appointed to the Accountancy Board?

But, this is really old stuff. The most recent I saw was 2002.

How do we know if they have been paid off?
Would it be noted somewhere on the forms that were linked to?
Is there another place to link to that would show they have been paid off?
Or, would they just not be accessible anymore?

Those are tax liens from Federal 941’s. Employee Federal income tax withholdings. Meaning he took withholding taxes from employees and failed to remit them to the govt.
Wasn’t even his money.

Bell could have had a setup where he prepared payrolls for his clients, prepared the payroll returns, and had his clients pay the amounts to him under an agreement where he would submit the funds to the IRS and SC. This has been done in the past by other accountants. Those payroll tax liabilities could have been for his clients.

Hey if Lee (notso) Bright is qualified to run for the US Senate with $1.3+M in tax and business debt, what’s the big deal about an appointee to the accountancy board being a bit behind in paying taxes? Wonder if T-Roid paid taxes on his drug dealings? No big deal, Willi.

CPA’s look out for their interest…they have shaped the laws and regs to favor them in every instance. They get away with larceny everyday. Screw them all.

The Governor’s latest appointment, Mike Campbell to serve as a workers’ compensation commissioner, may be the most puzzling yet. Workers’ Compensation is a specialized area of employment law in which the appointed commissioners conduct hearings, review medical evidence, and determine the extent of injured workers’ entitlements to workers’ compensation and medical benefits. In effect, a workers’ compensation commissioner is an administrative law judge who specializes in cases arising under the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Act. A legal background is helpful. A medical background is helpful. Real world experience with medical and disability claims would be helpful. Does Mike Campbell have any background in any of these areas? His Facebook page list his occupation quite forthrightly as a “politician”. He has served on several committees to which he has been appointed, but none seem to have a direct connection to workers’ compensation. Can his appointment be justified on any grounds except “pure politics”? The job is a plum: $116,000 a year, generous per diems for out of town travel, a state car, state medical benefits, and state retirement benefits. It pays much better than the position of Lieutenant Governor.

And by the way, according to articles in the Post and Courier after Mike Campbell’s first campaign for Lieutenant Governor, he had incurred over $300,000 in ethics fines for not reporting campaign contributions. Does anyone know what happened to those fines?

Make that read $380,000 for failing to file campaign finance reports. Here is a link to one of those articles: http://www.postandcourier.com/article/20110714/PC1603/307149896?ref=email

Maybe, like most, he negotiated it down to the initial fine.
Personally, it strikes me that anyone who ignores a letter from the SCSEC about a possible violation has a very guilty conscience. The fact that he let his get to $380,000 is just dumb.
Do Trikki Nikki Haley and her carpetbagger staff just not vet any of their appointees?

Commissioner should atty’s – Mike isn’t even a collage grad – no offense to the non-c-grads, but dealing with trial objections and complex legal argument and procedure is something you’d have to score very, very high on the GED to deal with well. The only thing it showed was Haley’s lack of care or hostility towards the WC system – both employers and injured workers…
