Will – this is an “airplane story” you can beat the drum on till somebody pays attention. The F-35 should be scrapped and all of the contractors involved should be prosecuted or banned from doing work for the government for the next 20 years.
Each individual contractor, down to the lowest peon, should be made to have a weekly “ride” and personally shown the fantastic speed and maneuvers the F-35 is capable of…..
I agree the F35 is a avionics nightmare -there are like 2 billion lines of code in the program that runs the plane. Did they sub contract to lowest bidder? China? China has incorporated viruses in pcs made in their country-so if that code was placed in F35 avionics then it’s bound to fail. Even India and Pakistan are buying Russian 4th+++ generation planes.
Contractors have learned to spread jobs over so many states Congressmen can’t vote to cut them. Meanwhile we build tanks to store in the desert, cargo planes the Air Force doesn’t want, $70,000 artillery rounds… Artillery! Good God, when are we ever going to need that again?

I read with all the money wasted on the F-35, we could have put all the homeless in our country in a $600,000 house.
Eisenhower is turning in his grave.
Yeesh. What a waste.

Please note for the record that I agree 100% with Will on this story (not that he cares). I just thought it was kindofa historical moment…

Rule of Acquisition #34: War is good for business!
Government run programs are a cesspool for waste, fraud and abuse! Government no longer can be trusted.
I don’t see the need, but then again, why are we still making M-1 Tanks in the Bo – state, when the Army said enough already ?

Sounded like a good idea at the time.
