“It is time for people to stand up and fight against the special interests, corporations and the military industrial complex,” Charleston County GOP executive committeeman Billy Hall wrote on his Facebook page. “It’s time to change Washington! As of today, I will be resigning my position as Executive Committeeman to support Thomas Ravenel for the U.S. Senate!”
Hall wasn’t alone. Daniel Encarnacion, former director of the South Carolina Republican Liberty Caucus, also signaled his support for Ravenel.
“After a lot of thoughtful consideration and after discovering very few reasons even from proponents of Lindsey Graham to re-elect him, I’ve decided to oppose his re-election and urge you to do the same and consider an alternative — Thomas Ravenel,” Encarnacion wrote on his Facebook page. “I’m a lifelong Republican who believes in liberty, free markets, and personal freedom and Ravenel is totally in sync with those views.”
Hall and Encarnacion joined GOP grassroots leaders like Chris Lawton and Kaaren Mann who have already come out in support of Ravenel.
Expect more to follow suit …

So a Republican (now former) from Charleston opposes corporations (like Boeing) and the ill defined “military industrial complex” of which Boeing, Joint Base Charleston and NPTU could be considered members. Makes good sense.

I will not vote for a Democrat but also will note vote for a turncoat druggie. I did not vote for Graham in the Primary and would have voted for Ravenel had he chose to have run. But I will not support him this way. South Carolina will deliver a Democrat to the US Senate.

I get it. A candidate with money is credible in SC. At least a name recognition to raise money. A Thomas Ravenel will shock the GOP establishment when the white sugar daddy to Obama is sent back to Seneca. Good for us! SC’s General Assembly barred convicted felons the right to run for office. D.C. can’t. Ravenel’s indictment and conviction played out like a political hit by those in power. It is real easy to mess up people’s lives with grand jury indictments. And look how his prosecutor (Reginald Lloyd) was “given” the Chief of SLED position after the plea bargain. Thomas strikes me as the type to get back up and dust himself off. There is dishonor in law enforcement and they know it and he knows it and this author knows it.

Like Lindsey Graham or not, he and Congressman Clyburn are the only power brokers South Carolina has left in Washington. Our idiot voters have voted out all the seniority we had in DC. Now all that’s left is Dumb and Dumber. I hate to have to vote for Graham, but SC can just not afford to lose any more influence in Washington. Especially with all the Defense Cuts in store next year. Junior Senators and Congressmen are absolutely worthless.
