BUT CAN HE MAINTAIN IT?

S.C. Rep. Bakari Sellers (D-Bamberg) is leading status quo “Republican” Henry McMaster in the money race for lieutenant governor, according to the latest Palmetto State campaign finance filings.

Sellers, a moderate Democrat, has $194,200 on hand according to the reports.  McMaster has less than $70,000 – although he raised and spent nearly half a million dollars in his successful bid for the GOP nomination.

“We can do this!” Sellers told his supporters in announcing his early financial edge.  “Please spread the word, I need your help to make history!”

McMaster is a former two-term Attorney General and SCGOP chairman who has run for practically every political office there is in South Carolina.  In fact his perpetual campaigning was mocked in this spoof ad released earlier this year by the Sellers’ campaign.

Sellers is the son of a civil rights leader who has staked out centrist ground on tax and spending issues …

He’ll need at least twice the money McMaster has and McMaster can raise more money in a shorter time. Should be fun though.

This is one of FITS’ weirder bromances.

It is, I actually clicked on a link “after” the Foghorn Leghorn video…it was Bakari giving a stump speech to his base…damn, he was progressive as hell…you’d think Sic would be keeping distance from him…but he seems to be promoting him a bit.

GrandTango July 13, 2014 at 7:08 am

If you consider all that FITS does, it all results in democrats getting elected. No surprise. 90% of his loyal followers are liberals. And they get their money’s worth.

Considering the mass corruption which is associated with SC Establishment Republican Party these days, maybe an occasional Democrat here and there is not a bad thing. Lord knows I have voted for Democrats who ran against the likes of Jake and Jimmy Metts and have no regrets, other than they lost.

Reply
GrandTango July 13, 2014 at 8:21 am

The only thing WORSE than Jakie and Jimmy, would have been a Democrat in name.

Jakie acted like a democrat w/ a tiny bit of restraint…and Metts would have never been indicted, if he had a ‘D’ by his name.

CorruptionInColumbia July 13, 2014 at 8:47 am

When either party has absolute control over the state, it is not good for us, the citizens. The Democrats did this stuff back in the 60’s and 70’s, watching each-other’s backs at every turn.

Now, the Republicans are doing the same thing, and as bad as the Democrats were back then, I swear the Republicans of today make them look like a bunch of friggin amateurs.

GrandTango July 13, 2014 at 8:52 am

Bush – an R -had partial control of the country. We had unemployment at a TRUE 4.5% rate, salaries were up, energy was low, opportunity was abundant and there was a sense of pride as an American. Now, all things politically based nationally are miserable.

It’s just cliched ignorance that bashes all politics and party. Rs are MUCH better at governing. It’s the ones that act like Ds who screw it up.

CorruptionInColumbia July 13, 2014 at 9:00 am

Aye, we do have far too many Lindsey Graham’s in office!

GrandTango July 13, 2014 at 9:38 am

What has Graham done that is illegal? He does what he does, and he won election fair and square. I actually support him on 90% of his legislation. He is disgusting on 10%.

I’d much rather have a DeMint Republican in Graham’s place, but I’m not sure one ran against him. And Graham beats the heck out of an Obamacare D like Hutto.

CorruptionInColumbia July 13, 2014 at 9:43 am

Really, GT???? You support amnesty for the hordes of illegal invaders that he and Obama are bringing into this country, to ultimately destroy our economy?

You support doing away with the Bill of Rights and its protections or citizens, such as Lindsey’s pet project, NDAA-2012, was the beginning of?

You support starting war after endless war, which we have less than zero intention of letting our troops actually win, while getting thousands of them killed, maimed, and mentally damaged for life?

You support his giving a rubber-stamp approval to ultra-liberal Obama Supreme Court nominees?

Need I go on?

Who is the real “Liberal-tarin” here?

GrandTango July 13, 2014 at 9:55 am

Other than amnesty, much of that is political rhetoric. And the D – and the Liberal-Tarian – would not only support amnesty, he/she would be down there w/ a welcome wagon…

As for War: The media, and democrats are the reason we have to abide by so many weakening rules, and cannot win (even though Bush won in Iraq.)

If Rs did it their way, we’d “smithereen” the F*#k out of em, and end it in a week. It’s John Murtha and John Kerry types who tie out hands, along w/ liberals at CNN, MSNBC and CBS.

At least Graham is bound to react to the anti-Amnesty protests. Not to mention: thanks to a GOP House – though you say party does not matter- Graham will not get a chance to vote on Amnesty, because Republicans will not let it get that far.

You are caught up in the ‘HATE EM ALL’ mentality that the left is feeding you. If thy can get you to chase some fool, like Felonious Punk or Tom Ervin, it puts the D in office. And you have NO defense against the S#!* you are constantly whining about.

CorruptionInColumbia July 13, 2014 at 10:11 am

You forget the numerous concessions that “W” made to the “Peaceful People Of Islam” during our wars there, so they would like us. Ridiculous rules of engagement inflicted on our troops were approved by Bushy boy and members of his Cabinet were stricter than those of local police with regard to shooting at the enemy. Something is seriously wrong with that picture!

Graham (and Boehner, McCain, and many like them) will bend over and grab their ankles for Obama, doing whatever he wants, when he wants it.

You are caught up in the “if it’s a Republican, it must be good”, mentality. Wake up, man. They are most all working for the NWO and the ultimate destruction of our country and our way of life.

GrandTango July 13, 2014 at 10:29 am

Dude: You’re all over the road. Trying to make your ignorance sound informed. You just hate, because you are instructed to. And you are valueless, as a voter, except as a pawn to the failed left.

You ignore the successes, and find blame, because Rs are blocked in doing your bidding by the people you inadvertently elect – and claim you oppose.

I’m just being practical, reasonable and solutions-based.
I do not side w/ the R because of a pre-ordained affiliation. I side with R because they do a H#!! of a lot more good, than bad.

But because the people who control you, tell you some cliches, you use the voice they give you, to try to be pertinent. You are getting used, because you are stupid.

To fix the country, Conservatives will have to kick the @$$ of simple-minded Dumb@$$es like you. We have to limit you to 3% instead of 6%…because at 6%,the liberals, who have F*#ked it all up, get in…Then they Screw You up the @$$, forgetting that they were telling you how brilliant you are…before you elected them…

If I can’t talk you out of Dumb@$$, because it makes you feel good…go ahead, keep making a fool out of yourself.

CorruptionInColumbia July 13, 2014 at 10:56 am

Yawn! I’m going back to bed. Feel free to stay up and play with Lindsey, or maybe yourself.

One thing that Fits and other news agencies seems to have skipped over is the non-choice that Lexington County voters are going to be confronted with this Tuesday, July15, 2012.

We have to decide whether to vote for Brian Setree or Margaret Fisher as the Republican candidate for Coroner. Mr Setree seems to be part of the Lexington County Republican establishment, long connected with corruption and malfeasance and Ms Fisher is an employee of Richland County Sheriff’s Department. Could she be another effort by Leon to expand the tentacles of The Lott Family into yet another adjoining county?

The Lott Family has done a commendable job of expanding its tentacles of influence, power, and control, about the Midlands of SC with the election of Dan Johnson as 5th Circuit Solicitor (Richland and Kershaw Counties), his old buddy Jim Matthews as Sheriff of Kershaw County for going on two terms now, and his (albeit brief and unsuccessful) installation of Randy Scott as Chief of Columbia Police Department. The brevity of Scott’s (and other Lott Family member Ruben Santiago) tenure at CPD should not make little of the damage they inflicted on that department and its morale while there. They did a lot of damage, causing a number of productive, hard-working, old guard CPD employees to leave either by taking retirement earlier than they had intended or by firing on trumped-up accusations of poor performance to save their own behinds, as was done when Deputy Chief I P Greene was fired after refusing to take retirement in the Sponseller debacle.

What Lexington County voters are now faced with is whether they want another member of the old-guard LexCo politics to remain in office with Setree, or they want to give the Lott Family another tentacle which will give him additional power and influence into Lexington County. This is a tough (non) choice.

Myself, I lean slightly toward Setree in that with luck, we will see the current Lexington Crime Ring fall and any connections he may have to the participants in that ring will be moot and pointless. If efforts to take down the Lexington Crime Ring fail, we’re all screwed, anyway. If they fall and the Lott Family make inroads into this county, we’ve lost any good that came from bringing down the Lexington Ring.

Unfortunately, we have no Independent or Democrat candidates for Coroner, not that the voters over here would have enough sense to do anything other than push the “Republican” straight party button, anyway.

Squishy123 July 13, 2014 at 9:34 am

Because we all know that the County Coroner has SOOO MUUCCHH political power. I’m not planning on voting simply because I really don’t give a fuck who tells people they’re dead.

Reply
CorruptionInColumbia July 13, 2014 at 9:38 am

Hi Squishy! While I agree that partisanship should not have place with offices like Sheriff and Coroner, the sad fact is that it does have a lot of back-and-forth play with these offices.

Alliances inside the Lexington Crime ring are decidedly Republican. Think about it, if your crime ring decides that someone is a threat to its existence and needs to be permanently “removed”, you just may want the good graces of the Office Of The Coroner on your side. Don’t say it can’t or maybe even hasn’t happened.

Also, if a member of your ring winds up in an “iffy” situation where a spouse or other associate dies and they appear to be at fault, guess who you might really want looking at it from your point of view.

RogueElephant July 14, 2014 at 9:12 am

C/C, I heard through the grape vine that Setree has promised Jake the snake a job if elected. If I lived in Lex. Co. I would be voting for Fisher. In case you care.

Reply
CorruptionInColumbia July 14, 2014 at 9:22 am

Thank You for that info, Rogue Elephant! Yeah, I have heard some things about Setree since making my post which have given me pause regarding my “slightly leaning” toward voting for him. DAMNIT TO HELL!!!!!! HOW DO WE VOTERS KEEP BEING FORCED INTO THESE NO_CHOICE “CHOICES between a literal turd and a piece of shit???????? It is by design or is the Universe just giving us the grand “FUCK YOU”?

I am very uncertain who I would vote for now. Still, I really hope in a way that Setree wins, the FBI cleans out the Lexington Crime Ring and finds him to be a major player, and we get an appointed Coroner or at least a new election where better choices are given us. This sucks.
