DEMOCRATIC SENATE CANDIDATE ACCUSES INCUMBENT OF BEING “ANTI-WOMEN”

S.C. Sen. Brad Hutto (D-Orangeburg) got his 2014 U.S. Senate campaign underway this week with a news release blasting two-term incumbent “Republican” Lindsey Graham.

The subject? Women’s issues.

“Lindsey Graham has one of the most anti-women voting records in the United States Senate,” Hutto’s campaign said in a release. “Graham voted against the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, and he has consistently opposed equal pay for equal work legislation.”

Wait … equal pay ?  Last time we checked the federal government was still doling out smaller paychecks to women for doing the same jobs men do.  Should it really be lecturing the private sector on its gender pay gap?

We think not …

The liberal state lawmaker also chided Graham for his pro-life views … which the incumbent began touting last fall in an effort to draw attention away from his terrible record on fiscal issues.

“Graham is an opponent of women’s health services,” the release stated.  “In addition to being opposed to a woman’s constitutional right to have a safe and legal abortion, Graham also opposed requiring that obstetric and gynecological care be pre-approved by insurers and that breast cancer screenings and mammography be considered preventative care.”

Hmmmm …

Hutto – a wealthy trial lawyer with a history of self-serving behavior (at taxpayer expense) – has an unconventional race ahead of him.  He’s not just running head-to-head against the well-funded Graham (a losing proposition in “Republican” South Carolina), he’s found himself in a three-way contest that includes Lowcountry businessman and reality TV star Thomas Ravenel – a libertarian-leaning free market supporter who has the potential to take votes away from both establishment party candidates.

Obviously Democrats will buy off the black vote for Hutto, but beyond that Ravenel’s entry into this race turns the conventional political calculus on its head.  Accordingly, it will be very interesting to watch how both Hutto and Graham attempt to position themselves over the next few months in an effort to keep Ravenel from cutting into their margins.

The “calculus” of Ravenel’s entry into the race equals the effect of a pimple on your ass.

We will be “entertained” over the coming weeks as Sic Willie (drum beater for TRav) finds ways to interject his man love of TRav into every story.

Who needs calculus when it’s simple math.

(Election factors) x (T-Rav) = (T-Rav’s election chances)

T-Rav, as we all know, is a zero, and anything multiplied by zero, as we also know, equals zero.

(Election factors) x (0) = (0% chance of winning)

Polish the turd all you like, a zero is a zero.

Smirks, I had the turd analogy first but thanks for the thought line. Why is it that when Graham, Hutto and T-Rav are spoken of the turd analogy keeps coming to the top ? Floaters ? LOL

“Last time we checked the federal government was still doling out smaller paychecks to women for doing the same jobs men do.”

Oh really? Federal wage rates are set by several systems. The principal one is the civil service pay scale. It is gender neutral. So please provide your SPECIFIC examples that back up your statement.

Mr. Folks is obviously referring to the news reports of the White House paying women less than men and has by extension had that mean all of the Federal Government. While it is an accurate come back by you it is weak.

Reread what I said. There are SEVERAL pay systems. The vast majority of federal workers are paid by the civil service pay scale. Political appointees are NOT paid on that scale. So if there is a problem with White House political appointee pay, talk to the White House Chief of Staff and his boss.

Weak? What do you propose? Would “Will you are full of shit” be better?

The point being, you know what he was talking about and by responding as you did it looks like you are trying to split hairs. It’s like trying to call someone’s point of view on this site invalid because they misspelled a word.

Actually “Will you are full of shit” just might have been better, not knocking you just saying it looks like you are splitting hairs.

My point (and perhaps yours) is that Will loves to use a wide brush on every topic. One Fed employee is underpaid or overpaid, then according to Will they all are by inference. Of course correctly stating a situation would not keep his agenda going nor his hit rate up.

As head of the Democratic Party in South Carolina, I approved and encouraged Brad Hutto’s candidacy. He has been one of my most blindly loyal and devoted deciples in the legislature since I have never publically reprimanded him for any of his many ethical mis-steps in the past 20 years. That is the advantage I have as being totally in control of the secret, behind closed and locked doors, attorney discipline system in South Carolina. If you have any questions, I do not care.

Thanks to T-Rav, Hutto has this election. Woot!

You’re delusional – T-Rav will siphon votes from Hutto, not Graham. Graham got more votes in the primary than all of the votes cast in the Democrat primary and twice what Hutto got by himself. Lindsey’s core will not vote for a drug dealing, baby daddy or a dumbass, ambulance chasing, Democrat named Hutto.

Turnout in primaries is not indicative of turnout in General elections. If it were, Republicans would never have become the majority party in SC.

What does T-Rav possibly have to offer to someone that would otherwise vote for Hutto?

Reply
The Colonel July 11, 2014 at 1:27 pm

Other than the obvious, he’s not a fat slob, ambulance chart? How about name recognition? I know that primary does not equal general but the strength of Graham’s showing is clearly indicative of the strength of his base. Neither Hutto or T-Rav has a chance.

Hutto Constituent July 9, 2014 at 11:20 am

My recollections of my meeting Hutto years ago are:
— Did not talk or otherwise avoided answering questions.
— Was cold and self-absorbed.
— Was obese with a rotund belly and unhealthy looking.
— Did not help with my simple constituent problem.
— Did not return phone calls or emails.

At least Graham replies to constituent emails.

Let Hutto continue chasing ambulances.

He also meets in select rest stops around the state if you catch him on the right day.
