Nikki Haley’s matra “we will no longer educate children based on where they are born”. She seems to think the solutions is in better schools, more money to schools…and welfare state. It is pretty clear from every report out there, including this post, what is urgently required are Jobs…Jobs…Jobs. In fact a target income level (say a $50,000/year/person) should be a birth right in this country for every college grad and our politicians need to put money and resources 24/7 creating such jobs for everyone. If people have good jobs, everything will fall in place. Its as simple as that.

Don’t worry – the “job creators” are on it!

I think we should tax them more for not creating jobs. That should help.

Only problem is that paying employees that much means less of a bonus for management.

How about a libertarian solution?

malaria in state provided condoms and birth control pills

It really pisses you off that libertarians offer no solutions and naturally no control, doesn’t it?

Btw, the “state provided” part of your comment is the non-starter for libertarians, but I digress.

Like Communism, libertarianism needs a “boost.”

Well you are correct there, the state certainly does an effective job of weaving apologia with its confiscated funds….though I doubt it’s going to be doing with for libertarianism any time soon.

I thought libertarianism was like scientology – it spreads by itself.

Well with the Hobby Lobby ruling I am sure that you will find more religious corporations that will deny contraception in health care. This will cause this number to increase as people can’t afford to buy contraception on their own given that all of the new jobs seem to be paying $9/hr. However, since most of them didn’t provide health care anyway it is a wash I am sure.

Yep, it’s all the fault of those religious corporations that there’s a large number of single mom’s.

OMG. The Supreme Court gave Hobby Lobby the right to refuse to pay for 1…..yes ONE type of contraception. The other forms and numerous brands are still available.

If these teenagers/women really didn’t want to have a child, they would know or could learn that it is FAR LESS expensive to buy birth control than it is to give birth to a baby and raise him/her to be an adult. And if these teenage boys/men don’t want to be fathers, they could help pay for the contraceptives.

You don’t need to have a Ph.D. to learn how to NOT get pregnant.

I find it amusing that you think that all you have to do is say no.

I find it illuminating that you think that the vast majority of the out of wedlock pregnancies couldn’t have been prevented with a “no”, or a free condom from the health department or free birth control available to the indigent or the sixteen forms of birth control that Hobby Lobby’s plan covers.

In most cases, “no” works very well when combined with keeping legs closed. Given that most birth control is taken to prevent unwanted pregnancies from recreational sexual encounters, saying “no” works very well indeed.

If they can’t afford contraception (pulling out and making a relief map of Hawaii is free), Then maybe they should quit having sex if they don’t want kids.
