SHAMIEK SHEPPARED TO MISS ENTIRE 2014-15 SEASON WITH KNEE INJURY

University of South Carolina head basketball coach Frank Martin needs to start putting up some “W’s” this season … his third in Columbia, S.C.  Through two seasons, the 48-year-old Miami, Florida native has posted a 28-38 record as the Gamecocks’ head coach – including an abysmal 9-27 record in conference play.

He’s also complicated his situation by failing to maintain control of his emotions … on multiple occasions.

Martin’s rebuilding efforts were complicated this week when the school announced that incoming recruit Shamiek Sheppard had suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament – an injury that will keep him out of action until the 2015-16 season.

“We feel awful for Shamiek with his injury,” Martin said in a statement.

“He has worked so hard to put himself in position to play at South Carolina,” Martin added. “We look forward to supporting him through his surgery and rehab this season.”

Sheppard – a 6-foot-6, 222-pound guard from Waynesboro, Virginia – committed to South Carolina in the spring.

Martin led Kansas State to a 117-54 mark over five seasons – including four NCAA tournament appearances. His 2009-10 team won 29 games and reached the Elite Eight, making him one of the hottest college coaches in America.

That success hasn’t translated … yet, and the patience of long-suffering Gamecock fans is beginning to wear thin.  South Carolina hasn’t won a game in the Big Dance since 1973 – and hasn’t even appeared in the tournament in nearly a decade.

If Martin is going to turn things around, he’d better get crackin’ …

At this point…it would seem that any news would be good news for Frank Martin, unless they extended his contract.

Meh, so they’ll get 3,406 people attending games instead of 3,407 because his mama won’t show up if he’s not playing.

“He’s also complicated his situation by failing to maintain control of his emotions”

I’d much rather have a coach that is comfortable with losing versus one that gets upset about it……uh huh

Who cares about South Carolina basketball? Oh, that’s right, you do. How does it feel to be a Tigers fan and think Gamecock sports 24-7? They are so far into your head. High 5, Tater Boy.
