MOLLY SPEARMAN ROLLS IN STATE SUPERINTENDENT RACE
The “new” GOP – which has become virtually indistinguishable from the Democratic party – won a big victory in Mississippi this week by promising the perpetuation of failed government-run welfare programs.
In South Carolina, the GOP establishment lost a “Republican” runoff election … but not to a limited government supporter.
In the Palmetto State – where GOP activists love to boast that they live in the “most Republican state in the nation” – the GOP establishment candidate Sally Atwater fell to “former” Democrat Molly Spearman, a woman who has made a career for herself by perpetuating the worst government-run school system in the nation.
As we explained in this post, Spearman is the leader of the state’s far left education bureaucracy – which has fought viciously against the establishment and expansion of parental choice in South Carolina.
Spearman supporters fought viciously in this race, as well … and it paid off.
With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Spearman crushed Atwater by a 57-43 percent margin – meaning the “Republican” party in South Carolina has now nominated a liberal Democratic lobbyist as its standard-bearer to run the S.C. Department of Education.
Think about that for a moment …
We’ve been saying for years that there is no real difference between the two major parties – either in Washington, D.C. or here in “the most Republican state in America.” Molly Spearman’s nomination as the “GOP” nominee for state superintendent of education is further proof we’re right.

Spearman is a FITS Liberal-Tarian Special. As democrats have become Obviously unfit for office, to statewide voters…you Liberal-Tarians and moderate, are using candidates, who are moderate, to put in elections…
Then you go out and vote for them on election day. So we end up w/ left-centric so-called Republicans…
I’m not sure if FITS is too stupid to know that this is his baby..or is he just playing stupid, and taking a payment from Spearman for his help…
I want to personally thank GrandTango for inspiring me to actually go to the polls yesterday and cast a vote against Atwater. Your incessant bullshit inspired me to selflessly sacrifice ten minutes of sitting in front of the TV sipping a beer to cast my vote for Spearman.
You are truly an inspiration to us all. Just… not in the way you intend to be.
Indeed! I made sure me and my friends voted for Spearman. Thanks, Tango, Sandi, and RE.
Thanks to both Patriots above. Plus 2 !
Thank you all for confirming what a lot us have speculated. Democrats are now controlling SC GOP primaries.
To correct a problem there has to be evidence of corruption. You are evidence to who really put Spearman where she is.
I voted Spearman, too. Reason: clearly the best qualified of all candidates from any party. Did anybody hear Atwater’s radio interview? You want somebody like that education your kids? Not my kids!
Thank God we are getting rid of the Nazi vermin. Hopefully, your last Seig Heil will be soon.
Every time you make these Nazi references you insult and disrespect those who fought fascists in Europe during WWII.
Thanks, Patriot
Where was your service in the military ?
Where would you like me to begin? Long list over a career.
I enjoy your comments so. Hearing about liberals, conservatives, and other types. I have a question for you, When Bush attacked Iraq, was he a liberal or a conservative ?
AT least the Nazi party will not be involved. Meatloaf is for Tango.

Ha! How sweet it is to see people who vote for label’s, whether it’s a “D” or an “R”, get bopped over their thick heads with their stupidity!
Yeah, F*#king over South Carolina’s Children w/ Dumb@$#$ like you is hilarious….Maybe a kid that gets screwed up by your ignorant leftwing policies, and greed, will make his living – with a gun- taking what your Stupid has has stolen from society….I’d LMAO to see your face when that happens…TeeeHeee…
Does that mean I can’t come over and watch porn in your mom’s basement now?
Wow: You liberals ARE the BEST and BRIGHTEST..Did you think of that yourself? Geniuses, all of you…Hahaha…
So I can?
Dude, you’re sending mixed signals.
Eat it, Bush boy ! 140 billion for what ?
So you want the best and brightest, yet the candidate you demand we vote for is likely a raving idiot? Again, unless the legislature wants to relinquish some power to the state superintendent’s office (now that’s a funny thought), it really doesn’t matter who is in the position, though I’d at least like someone that can say something other than “school choice good, everything else bad, sex ed, well uh we teach the health standards….. what ever they are…..did I say school choice good?”
Does that mean I can’t come over and watch porn in your mom’s basement now?
Party at GrandTango’s! Bring Your Own Lotion!

There were no good choices in this race. Atwater was functionally brain dead, running on perceived name recognition entitlement.
But you should call your doctor – you’ve had an erection that lasted more than four years – about school choice.
Ah, one of the dangerous side effects of taking too much Howie-agra.
I voted for Atwater. No, I absolutely don’t like her, but her being batshit crazy as she is, I figured she wouldn’t get a whole lot done. The less these bureaucratic types get done, the better off the taxpayer is.
I figured she wouldn’t get a whole lot done.
Don’t worry, Spearman won’t get a whole lot done either.
The problem is Spearman probably will get things done – and that ain’t a good thing.
Sorry, I thought the quality of education had something to do with this. My bad.
Overriding principles in SC political decision making:1) my wallet, 2) my desire to prove that no one can tell me what to do, 3) my exceptional ability to see people suffer, 4) my belief that it is OK to have the state run by rich individuals and corporations, 5) to unique ability to systematically place barriers to opportunity and progress
Apparently you haven’t been paying close attention to the education boondoggle in SC for the last few decades. They take more and more of our money and spend it on palatial structures, lots of useless school “administrators, more and more feelgood crap, and other things of a useless or at best, dubious nature. Kids who WANT to learn still learn. Those who just want to go and screw off…, well they don’t learn much, and probably not even how to read or write beyond their own name, IF that.
I get tired of seeing so much of my tax money squandered on “AIDUCASHION” (said with whiney, fawning, accent) which does not get results. SC’s answer is to throw more and more money at it with less and less results.
So what you recommend is….? Just devoting less money to education? Simplistic red meat answer for extremists. The “feel good crap” you refer to? I suspect it is the emphasis on developing esteem as part of education, which was basically abandoned by education community in the ’90s. It IS kept alive by anti-tax, anti-education extremists as a talking point, however.
Well who was the republican good choice ?
All Republicans are not for “school choice”. Does that help you understand?
Why of course they’re not, silly… many Republicans are those folks who sell the white flight, suburban vision on a daily basis.. you know, just your basic realtor, homebuilder, insurance, local government, chamber of commerce, etc. crowd… can you imagine what would happen if wealthy whitey wasn’t so tied into the geography of separation and new development?!,,, as school choice has the potential to do?! Yeah, there’d be some unhappy “Republicans”… anyway, your brand of Republicans is why I no longer consider myself GOP…
Yeh we know your brand,
Claiming you’re NOT a Republican, then voting almost a straight Republican ticket, while voting for some unknown libertarian for Coroner or something, and then declaring yourself an Independent.
In other words,Like Fits!
A Republican is always the choice in SC. Move on.
To further clarify….a republican always wins in SC, no matter how bad things are, unless you live in one of the gerrymandered black districts.
Hey Will, how about a story on how LexCo voters booted Bill Banning out of office, last night? This really needs to be given some attention. Debbie Summers and Johnny Jeffcoat, mend your ways or you’re next!
Nice going Warren and Luke for screwing up a win!
Sally Atwater lost because she came across as a clueless airhead .She reminded me of that famous Vice Presidential candidate Admiral James Stockdale who ran with Ross Perot in 1992 and made the famous opening statement in the VP debate that year,
“Who am I? What am I doing here?”
A positive for SC is very needed at this time.
Apart from Sasse winning and Cantor losing (nat’l races)…the T-baggers are basically taking a good ole fashioned Alabama beat down this primary season.
They become more inconsequential with each day.
I voted for the best choice, Spearman.
“We’ve been saying for years that there is no real difference between the two major parties – either in Washington, D.C. or here in “the most Republican state in America”
Then for god’s sake lets vote Democrat. It can’t get any worse.
