A national gun rights group is reportedly getting involved in South Carolina’s “ethics reform” debate, weighing in against a badly flawed piece of legislation that would actually make the notoriously scandal-ridden Palmetto State more, not less corrupt.

According to sources familiar with the situation, the National Association for Gun Rights is among the grassroots organizations working against this bill – targeting select State Senate districts with “literature drops and live calls.”

We’ve even received reports that some of these live calls are being directly connected to State Senate offices …

The group – which has yet to confirm its reported engagement – is operating under the assumption that S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley is still planning on signing this terrible legislation, which is currently pending before the State Senate.

S.C. Sen. Tom Davis is reportedly mulling a filibuster of the bill … an effort we are encouraging.

Haley has said she would sign the so-called “ethics reform” legislation, but may be changing her mind after several real reform groups have exposed just how egregious the legislation actually is …

“Her people had no idea what was in the bill,” one source told us.

The source could have stopped at “Her people had no idea”. Hell, they can’t even rent one.

So apparently if we could pass a bill that made it legal to smoke pot on campus at USC – she’d sign it because she’d have no idea what it said. Cool.
