A DONKEY BRAWL IS ON …
We’ve written a lot about the civil war going on within the “Republican” Party … invariably railing against establishment GOP candidates and supporting pro-freedom, pro-free market candidates.
Do we really care who wins the larger battle for the heart and soul of the party, though? No … the GOP is dead to us. And has been for some time. So while we’re happy to cast votes for the handful of Republicans who actually support the party’s “lower taxes, less government” mantra, we really don’t care what happens to the party itself.
The sooner it goes down, the better …
Anyway … while much of our attention has been focused on GOP infighting it turns out Democrats have a battle going on within their party. In fact my home state of South Carolina features a battle between a Democrat aggressively pushing the party’s core ideals and one viewed as more “GOP-friendly.”
Earlier this week, the S.C. Democratic Party’s executive committee unanimously endorsed one of these candidates … the ostensibly “GOP-friendly” one.
“Unlike Lindsey Graham, Brad Hutto will always put South Carolina first,” SCDP chairman Jaime Harrison said in a statement announcing the endorsement. “Lindsey Graham is more worried about world affairs and national television shows than he is the folks back home. Brad Hutto will make sure South Carolina gets its fair share in education funding and see that our rural infrastructure is strengthened – that’s the kind of leader we need in the Senate representing South Carolina.”
Obviously readers of FITS know Brad Hutto – a State Senator from rural Orangeburg County – is less about ideology and more about lining his own pockets. He’s among the state’s most ethically challenged trial lawyers, and he’s worked hard (and habitually) to make sure state laws governing his profession continue accruing to his personal financial benefit.
Is he ideologically all that much different than Jay Stamper – the unapologetic bleeding heart who is also running in the 2014 Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate? Eh … not really. He’s certainly no different on the bread and butter fiscal issues that matter to us. And should matter to you.
Stamper isn’t going down without a fight, though. This week he issued a response to his state party coming out against him – basically accusing the South Carolina Democratic establishment of putting political expediency ahead of its principles.
Sound familiar? That’s the same (compelling) argument made against the GOP establishment by Tea Partiers and other limited government advocates.
“It’s not surprising that South Carolina’s state party establishment would endorse an NRA Democrat with a 100 percent rating from the conservative South Carolina Chamber of Commerce,” Stamper said. “The endorsement is consistent with South Carolina democratic Party Chairman Jaime Harrison’s belief that we need to act like Republicans to be elected as Democrats.”
We’ll forget for the moment that the NRA is a friendly incumbent organization (and that the S.C. Chamber of Commerce is slightly to the left of Chairman Mao) … and focus on Stamper’s basic point, which is worth considering.
“I’m proud to be a Democrat but I won’t fall in line behind a Democratic standard-bearer who thinks we should be dictating women’s reproductive choices, telling people who they can and can’t marry and siding with the NRA to allow guns in bars and restaurants that serve alcohol,” Stamper added. “I’ve paid a price for standing up to the party establishment – but it’s worth it. As Democrats, we’re here to stand up for working and middle class families. We’re here to support equal rights for all people, not just a few. But Jaime Harrison wants to stand with Lindsey Graham, Brad Hutto and the same big corporations he represents as a lobbyist for the Podesta Group.”
What’s he saying? That both major party frontrunners in South Carolina’s U.S. Senate race are nothing but tools of the Washington establishment – which is 100 percent accurate. Oh … and that neither major party frontrunner is adequately representing the views their party claims to stand for, which is also 100 percent accurate.
In other words there are fissures in both parties worth keeping an eye on in 2014 and beyond …

FITS gets today’s SC Press Association Award for most convoluted, dis-jointed, hiding-the-point and/or never-making a real point, except how bad a F*#king writer he is….
FITS: take a class on:
A) Concise Writing
B) Writing a lead (or lede as you tell us professionals (like you) call it)…
C) Ethics
D) Critical Thinking
Or it may be easier to just hire somebody who knows what the F*#k they are doing…
u forgot to refer to strunck and white
OMG! I thought this was from the GT mocker. Oh, so goddamn funny, Tango!
A) Concise Writing: Use symbols as letters, power up the shift key, and toss grammar out.
B) Writing a lead: Introduce Obama.
C) Ethics: You look the other way if Republican (see Haley/ Harrell).
D) Critical Thinking: You know, agree with what I think.
Mr. Tango is on a new mission for improvement, and has hired me as a summer intern to establish his new flashcard library of profanity. My assignment is to invent new words, but he has requested me not to have any that are more than five syllables. He says that he gets tongue-tied and spews too much spittle if a word is longer than that. I just hope that I can last through the summer because I really need the money for my tuition at Clemson.
Just don’t let him sit on your tuffet.
Please do not confuse me with my sister Little Miss Mary —
Mary has a little skirt with splits right up the side and everywhere that Mary goes the boys can see her thighs. Mary has another skirt with a split right up the front (but she doesn’t wear that one too often!).
Best be careful.
There’s a lot of lightning striking near your glass house, boy.
I make a living as a writer. It’s a job everybody thinks he can do, and everybody wants. Very few are capable or qualified to write for money.
For every contract I get, I have to provide writing samples. The lucrative contractors are very selective. And at times I have more work than I can handle. (Of course Obama has F*#ked up everybody’s business)….
Anyway: Soliciting writing contracts is living in a glass house, w/ a softball sized hail storm always raging, and I thrive. So I don’t worry about it.
You must be writing for Fits then.
BTW, Tango…Perry, Mittens, and I loved your 2012 pieces.
My favorite part: “Publishers know if your work will sell or not.”
You think?? Hahahahahaha.
Ever look at MSNBC’s ratings…Dumb@$$…
Funny you never cite your sources, nor link anything. You only speculate on race, gays, Democrats, Republicans, blah, blah, blah…
I make a living as a writer.
*Sprays Coca-Cola on keyboard, monitor, desk, unpaid bills (sorry, guys…),children, carpet….*
How do you *know* when TBG has a mouthful of beverage?
I find it extremely interesting how you people have so much difficulty accepting my occupation. I’m not claiming fame or celebrity..or even superior intelligence, because of my profession.
If you told me you were an accountant, an engineer, an attorney or a teacher, I would not try to ridicule you w// disbelief. I think those are difficult jobs, that trigger ambition, and are respectable…Your success in your chosen field does not threaten me, as mine seems to intimidate you.
I guess if you allow that your myths about me, are just that…it opens you up to the reality you could just as misguided about all the other strongly held beliefs in your lives. Like your allegiance to liberalism or faith in decadence as freedom (as liberal-tarians believe),….
Maybe you should begin to question the false gods that have ensnared you, instead of your assuredness that I’m lying about such a minor, non-substantial, claim.
*Whistles softly*
Damn, GT.
That was well written, an sheet…but….
… you still owe me a couple keyboards and a monitor.
TBG also takes umbrage at the use of “you people”.
you are so clear today, how nice. normally you write like you are choking on a donkey dick
Yeah GT your right about Fits; and he should keep his message to three sentences and on and on, yeah take a class Will. But still, you have a bad attitude Mr. Tango but your good, real good; for an asshead.
Let me make sure I’ve got this correct. You are suggesting that a recently arrived to SC carpetbagger has earned the credibility to act asan uncredentialed spoiler for the chances of a life long Democrat who has proven his ability to attract votes and work with others in the General Assembly for 20 years. Is that correct?
Must be a slow day or you have relapsed back to your old ways.Powdered or crack?
“..a life long Democrat who has proven his ability..”
Do we even need to say it……?
I seem to recall Mr. Stamper has ethical issues of his own as well, something about unlicensed security sales, then there is his internet foolishness…
Quality candidates the SCDP has managed to scrape up.
Thank you Mr. Sanders.
Alvin Green looks better and better..
Greene.
Alvin Green could never have won the primary.
Greene, #=)/+;%¥€ it! Stupid word complete…
Mr. Stamper isn’t a democrat any more than GT. He plead guilty to 3 felonies and had to repay a couple million to his investors. He a greed mongering libertarian.

Does the name John Edwards ring any bells??
How bout Jon Corzine of FU MF Global??
****************************************************************************************
He a greed mongering libertarian.
If you are going to say something like *that*…you may as well use “Liberal- Tarian”……
Stamper has been outed as a Tea Party nutcase who is pretending to be a Democrat for some reason.
Nutcases claiming affiliation with the Democratic party?
Surely, you jest?
What nonsense, for there to actually be a division within the party, wouldn’t there have to be more people supporting Stamper than just Stamper?
Slow news day huh?

This article was about the Democrats, the other end would be the GOP
Sorry, correction required here: who ever heard of anyone “getting a piece of elephant”…?
…who ever heard of anyone “getting a piece of elephant”…?
Just. Can’t. Resist.
This elephant was walking through the jungle one day when she got a thorn in her foot. The further she walked, the more sore it got. After a while she started to limp. After a while, this ant walks up and asks, “Hey, what’s the matter?” The elephant answers, “I’ve got this thorn in my foot and I would do anything to get it out.” The ant says, “Anything? Would you let me fuck you?” The elephant thought about it for a minute and decided what the hell.
How bad could an ant be? So she agreed. The ant started pulling on the thorn and sure enough, he got it out. True to her word, the elephant laid down on her side and moved her tail out of the way. The ant crawled up on her and
started going to town. This monkey was up in a tree watching this little tiny ant screwing this great big elephant. He
couldn’t quite believe his eyes. He started laughing and rolling around in the tree. Then he knocked a coconut out of the tree that went down and hit the elephant right between the ears. The elephant moaned loudly in pain:
“Awwoooohhhhh!”
The ant yelled at the top of his voice, “Take it all bitch,
take it all !!!!!!”
Who wrote this? Was that Jay Stamper writing in 3rd person?
By the way Jay, didn’t you reach out to a bunch of Republican operatives wanting to run as a Ron Paul conservative only to be shot down? Now you are a liberal democrat?
The story goes that Richard Nixon, when he first entered politics, considered running as a Democrat but on reconsideration thought he saw more personal opportunity in the GOP. So much for beliefs and principles.
“Civil War?”
Where is Jay Stampers “army?”
Indeed, who exactly is supporting him?He will get some votes I imagine.Anyone who puts their name on the ballot does, but he has no real support among any faction of the Democratic Party, unlike the situation in the GOP where county Republican parties are “censuring” the incumbent Republican Senator. That much better fits the definition of Civil War I would think.
“more worried about world affairs and national television shows than he is the folks back home”
.
I though senators were SUPPOSED to be more concerned about affairs of the nation than their state alone.
SSfH,
Originally the House of Representatives represented the People and the Senate was supposed to be a more deliberative body representing the interests of the various States.
* Law and Order “Dun Dun” sound effect. *
The Seventeenth Amendment *disenfranchised* the States and *empowered* the Federal Government.
Since most of the Representatives and Senators represent themselves and whichever special interest *owns* them….it probably makes little difference today….
Ahhh . . . state vs. district rather than nation vs. state.
If only the president (and cabinet, presumably) is to watch out for the entire nation we should probably be more careful in choosing one.
…we should probably be more careful in choosing one.
…or make sure the office is a lot less powerful.
Unfortunately, that horse left the barn in 1860, if not before.
I run the Democratic Party in South Carolina now and that’s the end of it. This was my and my daddy’s life time dream. Brad Hutto, James Smith and Vincent Sheheen are 3 of my Captains. They have not made Colonel yet, like my boys Glenn McConnell, Hugh Leatherman and John Land. Yeah, I know Glenn and Hugh say they are Republicans, but they only do that for votes. Like I had Molly Spearman do to get elected. She’s one of us as everybody knows – Inez trained her – but we have to play the game sometime if we can’t rent enough Black Caucus votes on election day. As long as those in the party do exactly as I say, then they have no problems. They become real Republicans and I have ways to punish them you can not even imagine. Especially if they are lawyers.
Have a blessed day.
ps. Molly. That order we are writing about Richard Breibart will not be out until after the primary and as I told you, I will protect you and your father. No problem. I know you love me.
I have often thought that the Democrats would be a great party to belong to if their actions matched their published morals. A Conservative Democrat would want to feed, clothe, and shelter the truly poor, but find a far more efficient way to do it and pay for it. A Conservative Democrat would see the need for public education but understand the vile nature of public unions. A Conservative Democrat would understand the nature of a written set of rules which remains constant and the historical nature of its creation, and the understanding that a republic must be democratic, but not a pure democracy. A Conservative Democrat would know that government is almost never the answer, and that what oversight the government would have would be honest, completely transparent, and limited to the overseen program. A Conservative Democrat would not.. oh God, I’ve got to stop.. I’m gonna vomit…………… Democrats would have to stop being Democrats – and THAT’S just NOT going to happen.
I like to say “liberal,” rather than “Conservative Democrat” The theater of the absurd is the Democrats in mock rage, rushing the Republicans with nerf bats.
Conservative Democrats are what is now Republicans. LBJ killed the Real Democrat Party in 1964. That is when the Dim. party went to hell in a hand basket to buy votes from what has become the parasite class in order to win elections. The mess this once great country is in now is a direct result of The Great Society plus fifty yeas of festering.
I could not have said it better.
I don’t hardly think it’s a Dem civil war when the party is simply standing up and telling people the carpetbagger Stamper ain’t one of them.
If Stamper is the progressive and true blue Democrat he claims to be, then why is Blue America PAC the only progressive organization endorsement he’s got? There’s Democracy for America, PCCC, Progressive Democrats of America, and MoveOn among other progressive PACs and organizations, and they are not backing Stamper. I’ve even been told that an activist here in SC for Progressive Democrats of America has turned against Stamper. Also, look at Shenna Bellows of Maine. She has much the same stances as Stamper, but she has the endorsements of PCCC, MoveOn, and Democracy for America where, as stated before, Stamper doesn’t. This should be a telling sign for supporters of Stamper.
Interesting observation…carry on!
A Pox on all the main parties today, the Dem’s, Repugnicants, and the mostly the Tea Party. None of them any longer work for all Americans. It’s all ideology or money that drives them. If we could turn back the clock to a time when both parties worked together to help America as they did in the 50’s, 60’s and even to some extent the 70’s and 80’s all of us would be better off. The key word is compromise and that is a dead word today in politics.
WOW. Two screwballs that make Grahamnasty look good. Two more reasons to RESTORE HONOR VOTE CONNOR.
Two more screwball Dims to add to the pile. Two more reasons to RESTORE HONOR VOTE CONNOR.
but this is (allegedly) about not no mo’ Alvin Greenes, whut beat the SCDP handpicked (like the box of boogers Cletis sent ya) kloseted klavern Senate candidate cause wasn’t ’nuff street money. But I digresses
