CHINA, RUSSIA INK MASSIVE GAS DEAL DESPITE U.S. OBJECTIONS …
While the United States hypocritically assailed Russia for its “aggression” in Ukraine – and worked (unsuccessfully) to isolate the nation diplomatically from the rest of the world – Russia was busy putting the finishing touches on a major economic deal with China.
Under the terms of the agreement reached this week, Russia’s state-owned Gazprom natural gas company will supply China’s state-owned National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) with at least 38 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually beginning in 2018 – a figure representing approximately 25 percent of the nation’s annual consumption. That total could climb above 60 billion cubic meters, though, depending on Chinese demand – which is expected to more than double in the coming decades.
The gas – which represents roughly a quarter of Russia’s gas exports to Europe – will flow through a new pipeline linking the two countries, yet another symbol of the strengthening alliance between Moscow and Beijing.
Reduced dependence on coal is also expected to improve China’s pollution situation.
The deal – which will net Gazprom at least $400 billion over the coming three decades – is a coup for Putin. It’s also yet another geopolitical embarrassment for the United States, which urged China not to do anything to diminish the impact of global sanctions against Russia over the Ukraine crisis.
Yeah … because rhetoric from a dying superpower is clearly going to trump core national interests.
Even more troubling for Washington, D.C. is the possibility China will pay for all that gas using its own currency, the Yuan, as opposed to petrodollars – which would dramatically weaken the status of the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency.
“A specter is haunting Washington, an unnerving vision of a Sino-Russian alliance wedded to an expansive symbiosis of trade and commerce across much of the Eurasian land mass – at the expense of the United States,” writes Pepe Escobar for Russia Today.
Indeed … check the rearview mirror, America: That’s your global relevance growing smaller.

We actually thought China would pass this up? The deal makes total sense to the both of them. China has no reason to give a shit about Ukraine.
As much shit as DPRK causes for them at times, they still deal with them. I can only imagine Putin is a million times more bearable than Kim Jong-un.
Kim Jong-un is more bearable and American than our dictator, Obama.
Just ask Putin.
Putin..the guy Bush stared into his eyes and said..”I see a good man with a good soul….” that Putin?
What a traitorous thing to say. You should be ashamed. On the other hand, “Delta is ready when you are”.
China and Russia are not natural allies. The Chinese will use Russia for its own interests. I wouldn’t worry about some evil Chinese/Russian alliance to dominate the world.
True. China looks out for China. If anyone else gets anything out of the deal , so be it, but China wins.
Exactly. China will use Russia for as long as its useful then, if it comes to choosing between its main trading partner and a country with 360 million customers or a country with 120 million and shrinking customers, China will do what is best for China.
China closed the deal with a loan for a war for nothing.
Didn’t they say that about Nazi Germany and the Japanese???
No.
oh well, Saddam was worth it.
I expect that even though the deal will be paid for with rubles/yuan both parties will still be checking their perspective currencies valuation to the dollar. When one looks like it is getting a leg up on the other they will scream and yell, have a summit and work it out, for a time or two. Even if they base the deal on the value of gold they will still be watching the dollar. Gold no longer has the status it once had and isn’t much different than other commodities, in my opinion, that’s why you see such fluctuations in price from time to time. I don’t see the deal lasting more than five years.
And here I wanted to be scared about a Russian/Chinese super alliance so we could further increase US military spending to 100x these two countries defense spending combined.
China will tear up the South China Sea and eat the lunches of Philippines, Vietnam and others in the area. For this they will pay a price but gas/oil won’t be a part of it thanks to their Russian comrades. After they get things reorganized in that area and after they get tired of playing paddy cake with Russia they’ll tell the Russians to pound sand and get their gas/oil from the new “acquisitions”.
What this is really about is those cute chink chicks in the go go boots. Those four hotties will put a little yin in his yang and Ol’One Duck Phu, the Chinese premier would be only to happy to arrange for them to love him long time.
Out of place here, but Southern Charm hasfinally sold 3 t-shirts (5/21/14 @ 9:30 am)
I know FITS and Boz are buyers…but who in the H#!! else is that ignorant?…Sanford????
T-Rav?
JJ,
Don’t worry about the off-topic comment.
Worry that FITS hasn’t posted a T-Rav article or “T-Rav in a boat” pic in THREE OR FOUR days!!!!
Someone probably needs to check on our founding editor.
GrandTango!!!! Zip ’em up and run upstairs and check on Wil, will ya?
China will break Russia with their devalued Yuan!!
Key phrase in Sic Willie’s diatribe, “state-owned”. Apparently that is the ideal Sic Willie believes in as opposed to “government-run”.
If you notice, every business that goes to China doesn’t go as an independent business. There are several pretty names for it but bottom line the Chinese govt. is part of every business venture.
So what is you point here? Everyone already knew that China would only allow businesses to locate there if the government got a piece of the pie. Yet, Republicans chose to foster free trade agreements with China that allowed China to manipulate their currency, so as to take away much of our manufacturing base. So now we have to live with the consequences.
Actually I never agreed with free trade with China. For the reasons you state as well as the fact that China is our enemy. No matter what you paint it they are still our enemy and should be treated that way.
I sure hope and pray we get a leader in 16. Since President Bush (43) left office all the second and third tier “leaders” are looking like they amount to something. They can mess up a good thing without the USA to show the way. So much for leading from behind.
You are Exactly right. All those people persuaded to hate Bush, are now wishing we had a president as strong, and prosperity-attuned and he was…
We cannot afford anymore bad government. Obama is a failure as a leader. The next leader better be prepared to repair a lot of damage Obama has done.
LOL, Bush cost us world leadership. The rest of the world hated us under Bush. We lost any moral authority we had by engaging in a war based on lies and faulty intelligence, over the objection of our allies, and gained nothing in exchange.
What our allies learned from Bush, Jr. is the Americans are likely to put into office a cowboy who doesn’t have a clue what he is doing so we better find a new leader.
What our enemies learned from Bush, Jr. is the loyalties of our allies have limits, that America is no where near as popular on the world stage as they feared, and that many of our allies may be up for grabs.
I said I wasn’t going to talk this way on this thread but your response gives me no other choice: BULL SHIT.
What’s more idiotic: Putin shirtless on a horse or Bush in a flight suit, thumbs up, giving his “Mission Accomplished” clown act?
How about Obama telling us we can keep our insurance and doctor if we like it?
You’re missing the context as usual…RE and I are talking about an international issue. Do you and GT have to put your off topic dicks in everything?
Obamacare is an international issue, DUMB SHIT!
It is/will bankrupt this country and we will have to borrow TRILLIONS more from China.
Why are liberals so fucking STUPID?Try and think outside the box every once in awhile!
Just like Bush did with Iraq and Afghanistan? Thanks, China!!
You mean sending troops to the Middle East will stop terrorism might be “thinking outside the box”…then, you may have a point.
Me thinks the she male named Sandi and Grand T are one and the same!!
We will get a leader in 2016. Hillary.
Hillary
Won’t be on the ballot.
“Won’t be on the ballot”
Yes she will.
I wouldn’t be so sure, the rumor is she has brain cancer.
Perhaps I am confused. I thought it was the position of the Teanutarians that our global presence should be smaller. What is it the Teanutarians would have us do. The Republicans have already shipped all of our manufacturing to China.
I thought it was the position of the Teanutarians that our global presence should be smaller.
You are confusing the Teanutarians with us Ronulans.
The neo-cons co-opted the Tea Party a long time ago.
Yep…..were I American I would be tempted by you Ronulans!
Say what you will about Sens. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and Ted Cruz, R-Texas, but they know a train wreck when they see it. Although both supported the shutdown and were heartily supported by tea party groups in their own Senate races, neither has endorsed tea party candidates Matt Bevin in Kentucky, Milton Wolf in Kansas or Chris McDaniel in Mississippi. In fact, Cruz’s office confirms that he hasn’t endorsed anyone in the primaries.
Paul has endorsed two very establishment Republican candidates: Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Ky., and Mike Enzi, Wy. He’s also endorsed Steve Lonegan in New Jersey for a seat neither party thinks is in play, with incumbent Democrat Cory Booker quite secure, and Chris Brannon in North Carolina.
Gung Hay Fat Choy!
Putin was desperate for for this deal. Got up at 4 am to sign it before he left China. Ukraine is a basket case and will prove to be a headache for Russia.
Heard stories of USA decline before. America’s power runs a lot deeper than who occupies the White House.
China, Russia, and fits are underestimating the USA. They always do. They look at our political divisions as a weakness. It is our advantage.
Everyone will be adding a tax to every deal with Russia because of the risk involved by dealing with possible sanctions or instability. China got there tax.
US businesses were already getting tired of dealing with the Chinese and Russians. Russians were screwing companies doing oil/gas deals in Russian Arctic Circle explorations (and other business in Russia proper), Chinese were screwing companies by making them take on Chinese partners to do business in China (and the Chinese counterparts were committing espionage on the US business trade secrets and intellectual property). Russians and Chinese will try to make themselves more powerful by being interdependent but the mistrust they have for each other runs deep and they will separate.
Why all of this concern? This is none our business. The Russians and the Chinese do not trust each other, but the fact is China needs gas and Russia needs gas markets. The Russians were content with their European markets until they made the mistake of seizing part of the Ukraine. That threw cold water on their relationship with the Europeans and now they are afraid the Europeans will start pulling back on their consumption of Russian gas. So their need for money overcame their distrust of the Chinese and they cut a deal. This is just business.
It is neither good nor bad for the US unless you assume anything good for Russia or China is bad for the US. In which event you believe we should be actively seeking to undermine those countries. Which makes you a neocon.
No worries.POS Obama just announced he is going to make sure the VA system runs like Obamacare! He just did!
Oh my!!
Zzzzzzzzzzzzz Why can’t you Teanuts stay on topic.
My apologies.Got bored waiting for FITSNEWS Bobby Harrell story #232.
Anyway since China and Russia are communist regimes I just figured Obama and his regime would be on ‘topic’.
Year after year after the biggest fucking idiot on this site was Grand T, a proven liar, coward and a sad dude with serious memory issues apparently, but now a challenger comes along for the biggest asshole award and..ladies a gentleman we have a tie..good job Sandi, you are tied for first for the idiot with the most hateful, fact free
full of shit posts!!
Not to worry, the DOJ will file charges on someone or maybe the EPA will stop a pipeline or two.
Another Teanut who has nothing of substance to add to the conversation. Lets throw out a meaningless sound bite and see if it sticks. Why don’t you and Sandi Morals get a room.
I actually think the DOJ action in regard to the Chinese Hackers was significant. It makes those people international fugitives. It forces them to stay in China. They can no longer travel to Europe or any country with an extradition treaty with the US. Will that help? I doubt anyone knows; but it can’t hurt, and it labels China a supporter of stealing information from private business. Its more than Bush ever did about China turning a blind eye to its citizens stealing intellectual property and manipulating its currency to damage the US economy.
So you think I’m a Teanut, if you say so it must be true just like everything else on the internet.
For your information it took Republicans and Democrats to get us to where we are today. Blame it on one party or the other and you are nothing more than and partisan party hack.
The Dims you can’t tell from Republicans and the Republicans you can’t tell from Dims (Lindsey Graham types) are what got US in this mess. It will take straight thinking patriotic Americans to bring US back. Right now it isn’t looking good.
“It will take straight thinking patriotic Americans to bring US back. Right now it isn’t looking good.”
WHERE ARE YOU, WHERE ARE YOOOUUUUU…
You can start by RESTOREING HONOR VOTE CONNOR.
You mean the guy who admitted cheating on his wife Connor?
Connor Shaw?
Connor Shaw?
Connor MacLeod.
There can be only one.
Better a Teanut than a sociopathic fly on the wall, like yourself, that espouses The Obama Doctrine and world-view that cheers on and supports radical Islamists, the muslim brotherhood and socialist/communist dictators around the world!
What do American haters like you and euwe max do on Memorial Day when the rest of us are honoring those that have served with our loved ones?
Protest Memorial Day services? Burn American Flags?Pull wings off of flies?
Just ignore her folks, everyone else in her life does..its like the slow nephew at holiday gathering who plays with his or in Sandis case her own feces in the corner and everyone just thinks..nothing new to see here.
Maybe we need to remind them of what we did to the Indians.
We? I did nothing to the Indians, what did you do to them?
America has a long history of fucking people up… we need to identify wid it.
The same people that wanted to free the slaves were the same people that put the Indians on reservations. Go figure. Personally I think there was more to it.
How about bombing Japan – think there was more to it than killing a bunch of Japs?
It really bothers you socialists that Japan and Germany were defeated in WW2. Why?
I’m delighted we burned the skin off those civilians… when they got an eyeful of powdered baby, I’m here to tell you, it showed them who’s boss! And it saved the lives of all kinds of soldiers to decimate their population like that. If it had happened here, everyone would be saying it was the sign of the end times, and wander out into the radioactive rubble to meet Jesus.
Then go flog yourself for your guilt. Even the Japanese are telling you to STFU.
guilt would mean I had a conscience, though, wouldn’t it?
One of the things I’ve often wondered about sociopaths… I know there’s no cure, but what do they think a conscience is? Some kind of cross-wiring of the emotional center that would be just as well cut out?
Again, I’d use the nuclear option with that despicable bitch!
She probably just had another hard day at the Waffle House.
You are a true gentleman and a model of restraint considering the names you were called on this thread. I may start pausing when I feel the need to react in some awful fashion and ask myself WWEMD?
I’m ready to lead the revolution! …and I do take pay pal!
LOL . . . You certainly never fail to amuse!
Locked and Loaded, Sir.
It bothers TBG that the USSR and Red China *won* WWII.
We had to try it out somewhere. There’s a problem ??? LOL
Personally, I think it all worked out pretty well. Too bad we didn’t have a couple of those during the civil war.
Too bad we didn’t have a couple of those during the civil war.
Damn straight.
In the future please refer to it as “The War of Northern Aggression”, “The War for Southern Independence”, “Mr Lincoln’s War” or “The Recent Unpleasantness”.
Thanks.
“The Southern Struggle to Save Slavery”
Sow the wind (Pearl Harbor) and you reap the whirlwind (Atomic bomb)
Guns, guns, guns.
If you want to feel guilty for what our ancestors did that’s your choice.
Truman?
I wasn’t born when Truman ordered the bomb to be used, if he hadn’t I and many others might not have been born. Mute point.
so you don’t identify with America as the winner of World War II?
The blood of the fallen is just so much ink in a book somewhere now… no reason to honor them with… say a holiday or anything.
max you need to put down what ever you are drinking or smoking your incoherency is showing.
I think you are conflating muddy thinking with the desire to compare and contrast the willingness to force history to paint our ancestor’s deeds with only the positive aspects of their accomplishments. In an attempt to honor them, we gloss over their heinous deeds. We don’t have to face the fact that at the same time the greatest aspirations of man are being accomplished, the most brutal crimes were being simultaneously committed.
The question you have to ask yourself is – are you also cast in that mold? And will you expect future generations to cover over the crimes of our century with patronizing platitudes about guilt for things they didn’t do?
Sorry you think I’m muddying just responding to your initial one sided comment.
No, I wasn’t saying your thinking was muddy – I was saying it seemed like you thought my thoughts were muddied..
mute
“Moot”, dammit.
TBG expects this from “Our Founding Editor” and Nancy Mace press releases: but expects better from FITSNEWS commenters (with the obvious exception of GT). : )
Thanks, I knew better after I posted, just got lazy.
TBG – now give him a break – he had that confused with daft moots . . .
We have a long history of being the freest most prosperous nation and people on the planet. The world looks to us to lead precisely because we have promoted the values of personal liberty and individualism. Disease and illiteracy and poverty plagues most of the planet, civil rights non-existent. You need to recognize that American innovation in science and technology has led the world to a higher standard of living health and education. You sound like a grad student from the 1980s with that dinosaur Chomsky shit. You anti-Americans are gonna love Chinese hegemony, or Russian hegemony, or Muslim hegemony. Let me know how that works out, China and Russia, responsible for the deaths of 100 million in the 20th century in the name of Godless Communism.
Don’t let being the best keep you from being better… Eddie Haskel didn’t stagnate by wallowing in being “an American” he went on to become Alice Cooper…. and now has a refrigerator with an icemaker in the door.
By the way, you mentioned “Godless Communism” – have you read the bible?
So you’re not proud of your heritage…. the Constitution? Did you write it?
a Democratic Republic – did you create it? Did they ask you to ratify it?
Christianity – is Jesus your spiritual ancestor?
Aunt Sally strikes again.
True – we have nothing to do with our ancestors – we just sing America the Beautiful and the National Anthem for the vocal exercise… we don’t think about the rocket’s red glare. That was then – this is now.
What point are you trying to make, that we are bad?
We are what we are – and we aren’t going to change history… the best we can do is learn about our fathers actions, and understand the motives, so that we won’t be tempted to do the same. If you honor your ancestors, you’ll understand that their lives would mean nothing if you didn’t learn from them. You profit from their successes… you profit from their work ethic… and you profit from land they stole from indigenous peoples.
If our ancestors are the end of the chain, and we will never know any better than they – then it serves us well to forget them entirely.
The only way to be sure our feet are on the golden path is to carefully divide the truth from the propaganda, and gain wisdom both from the weakness of their character, as well as the strength thereof.
Whitewashing history only makes us weaker.
And the revisionist history you push of the fraudulent Chomsky variety makes you sounds like a fucking dumbass. You spout a lot of bullshit to lecture anyone on how to serve our ancestors.
You don’t have to have a conclusion, you don’t even have to have a specific disagreement… you shouldn’t have to.. but do you?
If you need choose the nuclear option and call Brigid the “C
Word” please be my guest . . .
Never! I’m a gentleman first!
*Then* I pull out the big guns!
You really do hate America, don’t you?
Memorial Day plans? Oh.I forgot. You celebrate May Day with your comrades.
I was simply saying we have a history – some to be proud of, some to be ashamed of. Our fathers did things to people, just like they wrote the Constitution… if you’re proud of the Constitution, you should be ashamed of giving the Indians blankets infected with smallpox.. and white southerners whipping, raping and hanging their slaves.
Our treatment of Indian’s and slavery was a horrible SIN by this nation.
Why are you not equally outraged about the ‘imaginary’ right to privacy found in the constitution that has made legal aborting 500 MILLION our children?
You liberal/socialists cry ‘foul’ ONLY when it advances your agenda of destroying the cultural and moral foundations of this country!
Our treatment of Indian’s and slavery was a horrible SIN by this nation.
———
Do you think that a future Sandi Morals will admit the same thing about Iraq – Vietnam?
Why are you not equally outraged about the ‘imaginary’ right to privacy found in the constitution that has made legal aborting 500 MILLION our children?
——
Obviously because I’m a man, and I don’t think it’s my duty to use government to tell a Gentile what she can do with her ovaries, uterus and vagina… My wife and my daughter is a different story.
You liberal/socialists cry ‘foul’ ONLY when it advances your agenda of destroying the cultural and moral foundations of this country!
——-
You’ll finish it off first with wars, pollution, gun saturation, violence and hatred.
Only white Southerners whipped, raped and hung their slaves? So no white Northern slave holders ever did those things, right?
I’m talking Godzilla scale.
TBG suspects that some black Northern slave holders did those things, also.
…and crows are notorious for their blood feud with squirrels.
Not to mention that slavery is alive and well in Africa and the Middle East in 2014.
You need to check up on that myth of blankets with small pox, it is bullshit, but if you hate America, I guess be a bitter clinger to a disproven story.
Too bad you can’t put it together in one shot.
I did – I do.
Most of what was *done* to the Indians was done inadvertently by disease between the “discovery” of the New World and the settlement. (1492- ~1600)
“cept for the Spanish. They were, in the words of Uncle Twodogsfucking “Schlomo” Foxworthy….”mofos”.
Isn’t the edit button great.
Wonder how many of us would be around today if there had been no Hiroshima or Nagasaki and there would have been an invasion of Japan
Why invade? We could just spend 5 years dropping bombs, and blocking supplies until the only ones not dead would be starving, or dying of the plague. It didn’t bother us to do that in Iraq. Only lost 4,000 men for that war based on lies… and there were between 100,000 and a million Iraqis dead… compared to 500,000 Japanese civilians.
Why invade? We could just spend 5 years dropping bombs, and blocking supplies until the only ones not dead would be starving, or dying of the plague.
A couple *not well known* WWII generals (ITBGRC, Eisenhower and LeMay) agreed with you.
Everywhere, US imperialism is in retreat. The “Unipolar Moment” is over.
Hubris morphs into hysteria.
Yes, the petro-currency issue should be numero uno, and we can’t even get a pipeline up and running.
You do know that Canadian pipeline is to export tar sands oil to China, right?
None of that stuff is staying in the USA, it’s all for export. You know that, right?
Canada doesn’t want to go through their Rockies to sell it. They and their Koch partners prefer destroying the Ogalala Aquifer when they pipes start leaking.
Facts, what have we told you about Teanuts and facts. They don’t understand them, so they don’t like them. Facts won’t take a side. That makes their motives suspect. And why do we need them? Fox, Rush, Beck, Drudge, and Savage get by just fine without them.

This is not a war born alliance, everyone is just tired of taking on our debt. Do you blame them?
An Apology from Prince Charles
LONDON (The Borowitz Report) — In response to the international uproar created when he reportedly compared Russian President Vladimir Putin to Hitler, His Royal Highness Prince Charles today issued the following letter of apology to the Russian people.
My dear Russians,
Yesterday, it was reported that I compared your President Putin to Hitler. If by making this comment I have in some way offended you, I am deeply sorry. Adolf Hitler was one of the horrible villains in world history, and comparing President Putin to him was uncalled for.
What I should have said, and what I say to you now, is that this Putin chap can be a bit Hitlery at times.
Let’s take, for example, his penchant for taking territory that doesn’t belong to him and then adding it to his country and so forth. Would you call that behavior Hitlery or not Hitlery? From where I sit, it’s more like something Hitler would do than something he wouldn’t do, and so the verdict must be, yes, the chap is being rather Hitlery when he does that.
And, while we’re on the subject, what about Putin’s use of tanks? Also very Hitlery. Again, let me be clear: I am not calling him Hitler — but if you think you can use tanks and not come off a tad bit Hitlery, you’re not right in the head.
Since I made my remarks, some British politicians have suggested that I abdicate my position as Prince of Wales and heir to the British throne. In other words, they believe that I do not have the right to free speech. If memory serves, back in the nineteen-thirties another chap went around trying to punish people for speaking their minds. I’m not going to name names, but if the shoe fits…
Yours truly,
H.R.H. Prince Charles
I believe I am dumber for having quickly skimmed these comments just now. Americans need to realise that they are not exempt from the action-reaction law.
