Who ARE these groups? There is one behind every tree. With Loftis, there is always somebody out to get you. I have never seen a more paranoid man and he takes every opportunity to make us as afraid as he is. Not drinking that kool-aid. Loftis, can’t you just put out straight information without trying to make it a political statement or creating fear in people? Just do your job or we’ll find somebody who will.

Curtis is dealing with people who are robbing our state retirees out of millions of their hard earned dollars. I would be paranoid as well. Curt is the best thing on our ballot and should be re elected with a landslide.

Biggest robber of the retirement fund is Curtis Loftis. Check out the Bank of New York Mellon settlement he negotiated. He settled for 12.5 cents on the dollar and his personal attorney walked off with $2,000,000 of retiree money for his trouble. Real negotiator, that Curtis is!
I’d pass off the “come claim your money” thing as a PSA of sorts, but yeah, that bit right there could use a bit more evidence, or at the very least, some info.
I don’t know too much about this but Richard Davis has been hired to lobby for insurance companies that want to loosen requirement to report unclaimed money. I think a bill may be filed this session so it is ready for next year.

My family was thrilled to receive a call from the Treasurer himself informing us of a substantial sum due us. It was from a automobile accident some ten years ago.

Loftis will win 80% of the primary voters. The nastier his opponents get the more determined his base gets. I saw him the other night working a room and they loved him, especially Retirees.

Curt, you do know how to lie well and some vulnerable people will fall for it. After all, you’ve lied all of your life so you have perfected it by now. But to state that the retirees are supporting you is laughable. Just as determined as your base may get, Brian Adams’ team digs their claws in even deeper. So get ready. Shame you want to put your family through the humiliation you have already, and continue to, put them through. Just disgraceful.
The polls I have seen for a candidate for lt. Gov (that thru the treas race into the poll) say that Adams is at 3 %.
He should be spending 75 grand a week on TV if Adams wants a chance, and too my knowledge he is not up on TV yet.
It is clear that Adams thinks dirt thrown at Loftis will win the day, but tht is unlikely.
My prediction is Loftis wins 75/25, Adams is out of politics for the rest of his life, the investment commission gets tagged as being responsible for the negative advertising, and Loftis is inaugurated from the dirt when he runs for gov in 18′.
Even if Loftis wins he probably won’t be treasurer for long. Ethics charges, grand jury testimony, and ultimately dethroned. Wait for it….
He takes them to African American churches. Hardly a hot bed of GOP voters. He goes to Wallmart. Hardly hotbeds of GOP voters.

Loftis must be on the internet constantly posting with a varied but recognizable set of aliases. Is this how he spends his time on the taxpayer dollar? it would appear so. Must not have much to do. Thank goodness we have a competent staff in the Treasurer’s Office to cover for him. Sorry for the poor supervision, guys, but maybe we can improve it in June.

I went through that bullshit years ago. I had two unclaimed amounts from a retail business which I operated in the Charleston area from 1979-1996. I jumped through flaming hoops to finally get one of the claims released but for the second one I had to jump through two flaming hoops with a hungry tiger snapping at my ass. I finally gave up. It’s not worth the trouble folks. This agency will do everything in its power to keep that money no matter how much proof you provide. A den of thieves…

Treasurer Loftis has been in office since 2011. He has shortened remittance time, returned more money than any treasurer. he has worked deligently to return money to the citizens and I appreciate it.
I have no problem with Mr. Loftis. My problems with this agency predate 2011 by at least 5 years. I did notice, however, that my name has been removed from the money owed file.

He’s no hero. That program existed before anyone ever heard his name. It hasn’t always been housed in the State Treasurer’s Office. It was once housed at the Department of Revenue, where it truly belongs. Not in a politician’s office. And yes, prior treasurer’s returned money to the rightful owners just as Loftis is doing. It’s not like he’s doing anything major, other than prostituting the program for his own political gain, just as he is doing with the 529 college savings program. He has wasted far more taxpayer dollars with his frivolous accusations than he has returned. Besides, you should be much more concerned with what he has cost you, personally. After all, what he is returning through the Unclaimed Property Program was never “taxpayer” dollars, whereas, what he has wasted in the many accusations, BONY lawsuit and Darry Oliver settlement is hitting your pocketbook whether you realize it or not. Go do a little research on where that money is coming from. I think you will change your mind on how “well” he’s doing his job.

So, this is something else that the Treasurer’s Office has been doing since before Curtis ever heard of the Treasurer’s Office and he wants to take personal credit for it.
“…dedicated state employees…” Is that the same as those “unelected bureaucrats” that the GOP is always assaulting?
Seems to me he gave credit to the staff and asked people to help provide links to the database. Seems like a good plan to me.
It would be helpful if the Treasurer would just list all the people they owe
money to instead of a person having to put in a name and and searching the data
base to see if they are listed. also they should list the amount owed instead of
saying under 100 or over 100
There are hundreds of thousands of name in the database. it is impractical to list them all.

No fan of Loftis, but we recovered several thousands. Complicated paperwork (reopening estates), took awhile, but otherwise no hassles.
