“Wise Latina” Support and Graham’s Sub 40 Poll Numbers
Justice Sonia Sotomayor slipped up this week and exposed herself as a race baiter in her official dissenting opinion in the Michigan case. Meanwhile, Lindsey Graham’s approval numbers continued to slip-slide in the Winthrop poll, diving below 40 per cent. Are the two stories related?
“Certainly the Michigan ruling had nothing to do with Graham’s approval problems in this particular poll,” said Lee Bright, the top challenger to Graham in the upcoming Senatorial Primary. “But his many foolish decisions, like supporting Sotomayor for the Court, are coming back to haunt Lindsey Graham. I think most of us in South Carolina knew from the start that this woman did not belong on the court. Her beliefs are alien to our principles. Then again, Lindsey Graham’s beliefs are now alien to our principles too – and that’s the problem.”
Michigan had extremist affirmative actions laws in their university system, and the Supreme Court affirmed a lower court decision to strike down that law by a 6-2 margin. Sotomayor and Ruth Ginsberg, known as the most radical liberal on the Court, dissented. Sotomayor called the ruling “out of touch with reality.”
Bright responded that “perhaps Lindsey Graham can now tell us who is out of touch with reality – he, Ruth Ginsberg and Sonia Sotomayor? Or us? Or maybe he will step up and admit that he made a terrible decision when he supported her nomination. But frankly, even if he did that, it doesn’t change the fact that he gets cowed by the liberals all the time now. This is now who he is.”
The Winthrop pollsters surmised that, unlike an earlier report by Politico, Graham does face a “battle ahead” since long-term incumbents normally find it impossible to improve approval ratings this late in the game.

State Senator Lee Bright is the one who is out of touch with reality.
I don’t agree with Sotomayor’s recent opinion, but to think Bright would vote for any of Obama’s appointees, no matter how neutral they were, is pretty laughable. Why the hell should anyone care what he thinks?
Graham didn’t get grief because Sotomayor in particular was a bad candidate, he got grief because he didn’t go for the 100% obstruction that the extremist wing of the GOP drools over. It didn’t matter who Obama picked; to them, all that matters is that Obama picked them.
That’s rather a self fulfilling prophesy. Of course anyone Obama appoints would be an enemy of white America, be they Jew, Hispanic, or Black. That’s a given.
Typical Teanut with Obama derangement syndrome.
Sotomayor was a particularly bad candidate no matter where your ideology leads you. Just ask liberal law professor Lawrence Tribe, who wrote the following in a letter to Obama regarding her potential candidacy for the Souter seat:
“Bluntly put, she’s not nearly as smart as she seems to think she is, and her reputation for being something of a bully could well make her liberal impulses backfire…[Kagan would be] a much more formidable match for Justice Scalia than Justice Breyer has been — and certainly more than a Justice Sotomayor or a Justice Wood could be.”
So she is stupid (by the standards of SCOTUS nominees), which should have been a wee bit problematic for both sides. And the weaknesses Tribe points out were on display in her embarrassment of a dissent in Schuette – from her poor legal reasoning to her inappropriate attempts to bully and attack her colleagues for daring to disagree with her.

She could not be more dumb than Scalia. Did you see the questions he had in the Aereo Case The man is trying to make decisions that effect modern commerce and the internet and he obviously learned everything he knows about technology before 1990.
LOL on Scalia being dumb.
LOL on Sotomayor being stupid. Scalia is a boorish blockhead.
The only one appearing stupid is you, although I always leave open the possibility that you are just incredibly dishonest. I said she was stupid in relation to the pool of SCOTUS nominees. That assessment is based upon the rather scathing critique of her intellectual gifts from Obama judicial adviser Laurence Tribe. Sotomayor would rank higher than Harriet Miers. After that I am not sure who else would be below her.
There were several prominent conservatives who supported Justice Sotomayor’s nomination – including former US Solicitor General Ken Starr – you can look up the rest of them. The only person who said she is “stupid” is you.
Show me where I said Sotomayor did not have support from the right. What I actually said was that there was plenty in her candidacy to object to without being an extremist or reflexively hostile to Obama’s appointees, which was Smirks’ suggestion. Her qualifications are one thing upon which I agree with Lawrence Tribe.
Another key reading comprehension point – I said she was stupid by SCOTUS nominee standards, which is a pretty exclusive club intellectually. That is a more than reasonable interpretation of Tribe’s comments.
Show me where I said that you said Sotomayor did not have support from the right. You posted with such glee that a “liberal law professor” disagreed with her nomination – I posted that there were conservatives including Ken Starr who supported her nomination. Instead of preaching “reading comprehension” perhaps you should practice it. Again, you were the only person who used the word “stupid”.
I am aware you were trying to rebut a point I did not make (that no one on the right supported her candidacy). Still has nothing to do with whether it makes you a right wing extremist to have dared oppose her nomination. But perhaps you want to argue that the most preeminent liberal conlaw scholar in the country is a right wing extremist, as Smirks suggested.
And I did introduce the word “stupid.” Now show me where I indicated I claimed it was a quote from anyone? I can explain how quotation marks work if you need, but the parts I was attributing to Tribe should be fairly obvious.
No – you are making it up as you go along. You presented the opinion of a liberal who opposed Justice Sotomayor’s nomination – I presented the fact that there were conservatives who supported her nomination – including Ken Starr. Where in my post did I say anything about you saying that no one on the right supported her candidacy? You are the only one who keeps saying that over and over now – I do not see it anywhere in your post or my post. You did not say it and I did not say it. As I said before – you were the only one to use the word “stupid” – I am quoting YOU! Now I know you will weasel and lie and squirm and contort – it is all right here in black and white for anyone to read. I don’t need you to explain anything to me – got it? I just wish you could be honest – but looks like that isn’t going to happen.
What the hell are you blathering on about now? I never denied using the word stupid (in comparison with other SCOTUS nominees), and I stand by it as a fair summary of Tribe’s comments. You keep saying that I am the “only” person using that word, as if I attributed it to someone else. I did no such thing. I don’t know how much clearer I can be about that.
Why can’t we deport Sotomayor back to Mexico? Or whichever latin country she is from?
If you see Graham out in public, walk right up to him and get in his face and say, “FUCK YOU, Dipshit Perkerjerk.”
There was nothing in Justice Sotomayor’s dissent that “exposed herself as a race baiter” – that is pure BS. Sorry – I do not need Lee Bright to tell me anything either. Good grief!
I’m not sure I’d rely on Bright to explain anything to me, except why he continues to litter the state with wilted blue tarps with his name spray painted on them.
I agree with you completely – what is wrong with that man?
Bright is unintentionally schizophrentic. While he attempts to argue against any form of birth control, he makes an exquisite case fot it.
Will, u are conspicuously silent on det bowers, who has raised the most money and is the only legit challenger. Are u officially committed to nancy mace? Seriously, I dont know, and keep looking for a Bowers article.
Det Bowers is a nut job religious zealot whose only God is Det Bowers.
Hey FITS, how come there’s nothing today about your new hero, racist asshat moocher Cliven Bundy?
The votes for Kagen and Sotomajor should, in and of themselves, be enough to cost Grahamnasty any hope of being re elected in SC. That being said Sen. Bright is an outstanding state senator but on the state level he is not responsible for military or foreign relations matters. The US Senate requires someone versed in diplomatic and military matters concerning the middle east, China, Russia, and Europe. Only one candidate has the needed experience and knowledge to both defeat Graham and step into his place in the US Senate with very little learning curve. RESTORE HONOR VOTE CONNOR.
Lee Bright and Mikie Fair can lick my Titleists!!!
Its all over the Charleston area more than ever. Word of mouth is destroying Graham. Nobody wants him anymore. The only thing he can do at this point is ask Obama to have his cronies tamper with the electronic voting software.
Blahhhhhhh Lindsey f$@&#* liberals sloozp s$%#?*£!!!!! Lee Bright is kind of sexy, in a very F &$%#in conservative way!!!!
