VIDEO CONFIRMS HOUSE SPEAKER PLAYED KEY ROLE IN ADVANCING CONTROVERSIAL BILLS

Earlier this week FITS posted a story outlining how S.C. Speaker of the House Bobby Harrell (RINO-Charleston) had played a pivotal role in advancing a pair of bills aimed at shutting down the investigation into his alleged public corruption (and stripping the S.C. Attorney General of virtually all of his power in the process).

Missed this ongoing drama? It’s become national news …

Harrell has denied having any involvement with the controversial bills, but it’s becoming abundantly clear he’s not telling the truth.

Harrell’s goal, according to our sources, was to sneak his legislation through the S.C. General Assembly without anyone being the wiser.

The first step? Placing his bills onto the House calendar when no one was paying attention – engaging in an elaborate and preconceived ruse to disguise their true intent so that they could bypass the normal committee process. All of this went down before a virtually empty chamber of the S.C. House, too, ensuring his dirty dealings wouldn’t draw any objections.

To read our story on Harrell’s machinations, CLICK HERE.

Well, it turns out things went down precisely as our sources said.

FITS has obtained video from S.C. Educational Television (SCETV) which shows Harrell personally advancing both bills. In fact the video confirms the account provided by our sources all the way down to the very last word.

Take a look …

(Click to play)

Harrell’s bills were introduced last week with an overwhelming numbers of co-sponsors. Once the intention of the legislation became clear, though, supporters began to flee the bills.

Harrell is currently staring down some serious public corruption charges – and that’s just based on the information that’s already been made public. In September 2012, he was busted improperly reimbursing himself from his campaign account for dubious flight-related expenses (Harrell is a pilot). How much? More than $325,000.

Harrell also stands accused of applying improper pressure on the S.C. Pharmacy Board and the S.C. Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (SCLLR) on behalf of his pharmaceutical business – using his official letterhead, no less. Additionally, Harrell’s political action committee is under scrutiny for allegedly misappropriating and misreporting funds – including an effort to force taxpayers to pay hundreds of millions of dollars on an unnecessary transportation project.

Harrell is guilty as sin: In fact he’s effectively admitted his guilt on the first count by returning $23,000 of his dubious reimbursements.

He’s also responded like a criminal – lying and refusing to release his records, assassinating the character of one of the reporters who investigated him and then strong-arming her newspaper into backing down (by allegedly threatening to withhold an annual bribe the paper receives from the S.C. General Assembly).

More recently? His political team has launched a smear campaign against Wilson – while his attorneys have sought to have him removed from the case.

This attempted legislative coup is yet another example of Harrell’s efforts to evade accountability for his actions.

If he went to prison, he’d be the kind of guy who would frigg you in the butt without the decent courtesy of giving a reach around. He’s a taker, not a giver.

Nah, he would be the best jailhouse lawyer for sure. Get those appeals through he would.

I can hear him telling all those other criminals how he and Jean Toal are bff’s and how he can get her to “personally review” each and every one of their cases. Depending on just how much he has on her, she just might do it. She’s done it before.

You are right. He would be on the smuggled cell phone talking to his baby-momma Jean Toal getting those appeals through for his homeys in G block. What a guy! I bet he could get his baby momma to throw some tobacco over the fence as well. Get busy livin’ or get busy dyin’. LoL

What? Are you saying someone redacted the House Journal? That the video audio and the House Journal text do not match?

Reply

No, I am saying that the Journal does not tell you who is in the chamber when introductions take place. It also does not show a time elapse for when things happen or how it happened. Seeing is believing.

What would be the procedure for removing Harrell from the Speakership of the House?

Reply
Gregory Geddings April 18, 2014 at 10:48 am

A large catapult would do the job.

Yes, but that might require a change in the House rules.

Or how about pitard? It’s a metal cone set on the ground, filled with gunpowder. A person is sat on the point of the cone and the powder is lit. The body is “hoisted” by the resultant blast for all to see. Much more effective and enterteining than a catapult.

When you shove your bodily appendages into some things, they come back with stuff stuck to ’em that won’t wash off. There’s no known cure for some of those pesky “bugs”. Careful, Bobby, where you stick your hands and other appendages. Some jail time may be the only cure.

Bobby Generating Fake Records April 18, 2014 at 11:26 pm

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) –

Despite state law that says such records are to be kept for four years and two public records requests, one of which delivered directly to the Speaker himself, Bobby Harrell refuses to allow WIS to see his spending records for the previous four years.

The Speaker of the South Carolina House of Representatives is under investigation after a conservative policy group requested the state’s Attorney General’s office look into how Harrell spent more than $325,000 from his campaign account.

State ethics filings show Harrell spent the money as reimbursements to himself from his “Harrell for House” campaign account between 2008 and the end of 2012. What Harrell has not done is to show WIS his spending records, and exactly what he did to earn the cash.

On January 8—the first day of session—we hand-delivered the same to request to Harrell as he left the House chambers. Harrell took the request, but never allowed us to inspect his spending records and never turned them over.

Bobby Generating Fake Records April 18, 2014 at 11:37 pm

One of the things Harrell is worried about is the Grand Jury can get to the bottom of all of his expenses. Even subpoena records from businesses he so to speak spent campaign money on. For years, he refuses to release his records. And we all know why, too. Eventually, all his dirty laundry gets shown for all to see just how bad of a low life thief he really is. But the real kicker is the kickbacks and the lobbyist – and his dirty corrupt tactics to push the 526 boondoggle for his investment friends. There will be more going down than just Harrell. I expect many on Charleston County Council will end up on the wrong side of the law, too. This all is just the beginning of the biggest take down of public corruption in the state of South Carolina. This is why Harrell and his lawless rogues are scratching and clawing and tossing anything they can think of to roadblock the road that will take them to prison. Nobody puts this shit like Harrell and his cronies do unless they have something they wish to hide. Nobody at all. Aside from that, I thought it was simply ludicrous that Harrell demanded Wilson release a SLED report when Harrell himself was illegally provided a copy himself. He hasn’t seen the other, yet. HAHAHAHAAHAHAAAA!

From your lips to God’s ears. I would love law enforcement to look into the shady deals behind I-526 in Charleston. I suspect the North Charleston gang of Teddy Pryor and Keith & Elliot Summey would be taken away. Whenever they spend public money, there always seems to be something in it for them.

Bobby Harrell is an obnoxious excuse for a leader. That scumbag has used every lowlife tactic and trick to try and get himself out of this one.

Let’s face it: Bobby Harrell is a liar and a thief. He is also a sociopathic narcissist who takes great pleasure in “winning”. At all costs.

He should have stepped down months ago.

He will NEVER step down, because this is all a big game to him. It’s a game he plays with YOUR Money and freedoms, other people’s lives and careers, and the full support of his fellow sociopaths.

You mark my words, IF he is held accountable for his actions and his scumbag tactics can’t distort the situation to his liking, he will slither into the darkness like a cowardly slug. You’ll never hear another word about him as he moves on to a fresh set of peers to fleece, manipulate, steal from, etc…

A man such as he should never have been placed in ANY position of power.

Sadly, the majority of our GA is much like Bobby.

You have also described Jean Hoefer Toal perfectly. Those of us in state government who have watched her since 1973 know her score.

Word around the State House complex this morning is that she has something else planned to get Harrell off the hook. Everyone needs to watch their backs between now and the end of the session.
