House To Obama: Prosecute The IRS

“JUSTICE” DEPARTMENT URGED TO MOVE INVESTIGATION FORWARD

The U.S. House of Representatives wants Barack Obama’s “Justice” Department to pursue criminal charges against Lois Lerner, the former Internal Revenue Service (IRS) staffer at the heart of the agency’s discrimination against limited government groups.

By a 23-14 vote, the House Ways and Means Committee sent Lerner’s name to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder this week along with a request that he pursue the evidence against her.

Holder’s agency is already investigating the IRS, but if you believe there will ever be a legitimate exposure of its shameful practices – your definition of the word “Justice” differs from Obama.

Lerner infamously pleaded the Fifth Amendment last year in response to questions about her role in the scandal.

“She has not committed any crime or made any misrepresentation but under the circumstances she has no choice but to take this course,” Lerner’s attorney said at the time.

Mmmm-hmmm.

House members disagree. They believe Lerner not only participated in illegal discrimination, but obstructed justice in an effort to evade accountability.

In fact they believe she is still obstructing justice today …

Lerner’s attorney is doubling down on her innocence.

“This is just another attempt by Republicans to vilify Ms. Lerner for political gain,” he said in a statement. “Ms. Lerner has done nothing wrong. She did not violate any law or regulation. She did not ?mislead Congress. She did not interfere with the rights of any organization to a tax exemption.”

Wow … done nothing wrong?

That’s a pretty bold statement to make in light of the calculated way Lerner revealed the IRS “irregularities” – and then sought to minimize them amid the initial political firestorm last spring.

“Of all the scandals hanging over the Obama administration, its use of the IRS to silence political opposition in advance of the 2012 election – and the subsequent coverup of the scandal – is by far the most egregious,” we wrote earlier this year. “That’s why Obama is doing his best to sweep it under the rug.”

He cannot be allowed to do that …

You have no idea what it’s like to be an IRS target. They have all the money in world and all the political power they could ever need behind them. I know. In South Carolina.

“Among those tools is the House’s “inherent contempt” authority under the Constitution, which was initially exercised in 1795 during the First Congress and on multiple occasions thereafter. Lerner could be held until January 2015 when a new Congress is seated, which could issue another subpoena and throw her in the clink again if she still balks at testifying.” (Washington Examiner)
Might as well put Holder in the ‘clink’ as well.

We all did stupid $#!* when we were young. Then we grew up.

A lot of Obama voters in the 18-34 range, thinking they had a messiah sent to them from Kenya…are broke, busted and disgusted.

And now they are going to get hit w/ an exorbitant forced insurance tax bill, just for being alive. An insurance payment, or fine, to finance old people, or those who have neglected to care for themselves, or their children…

Liberalism collapses on itself. You cannot pay food stamps and welfare forever. The payers dry up…and there is not a infinite tree of money that the government can keep harvesting, to feed its idiots and deadbeats, so the corrupt Obamas and the dishonest Pelosis and Reids can live like Kings and Queens.

GT, let’s also not forget that ALL insurance markets are closed for the next seven months, mandated by the unaffordable care act. CLOSED. When people figure that out, they are going to hit the ceiling. When progressive regressivists figure out their rubbish insurance has a 6500 deductible and only pays 60% after that, they’ll really be pissed.

Good point BB. Something more absurd comes out every day, about this gargantuan screw-up, called Obamacare…

It’s like me getting elected by telling you I can turn lead into gold…the promise stage is euphoric. The wine flows and fattens the investors tab…but sooner or later, the dumb@$$#$ who took me on my word to give them everything, for nothing (or
less)….are going to demand their precious metal…

The check’s in the mail, or “I’ll gladly repay you on Tuesday” stops working…..and then you see the suave, thin and good-looking alchemists in the White House as a gaunt and bumbling skeleton….that he always was to us who knew better….

We MUST MUST MUST offer a 100% alternative to this Liar and charlatan…so the people can see the success that Conservatives will deliver….

SCBlues April 10, 2014 at 12:23 pm

You are delusional. My insurance does not have a “6500 deductible” – it has the same deductible that it has always had. And my insurance pays 100% after the deductible is met and has EXPANDED coverage mandated by the ACA. But don’t let any of these FACTS get in the way of your usual deluded rants on here . . .

SCBlues April 10, 2014 at 10:04 pm

My plan does NOT have a deductible of $12,000.00 for a husband and wife both age 35 or even 45 or even 55 – but please stay up all night and copy and paste all this stuff. You are NUTS.

SCBlues April 10, 2014 at 10:02 pm

My plan does not have a deductible of $12,700.00 for family of even 10 – but keep copying and pasting – do it all night.

BrigidBernadette April 10, 2014 at 7:37 pm

Finally, there is the enormous problem of deductibles and co-pays. Depending on the level of coverage selected and the amount of subsidy a family is receiving, the out-of-pocket expenses can vary significantly. Still, many people are going to find that they have a deductible as high as $6,000 and are expected to pay 40 percent of the cost of their treatment as a co-pay. According to Scott Gottlieb, families qualifying for the largest subsidies face limits that can still be as high as $4,500 in total out-of-pocket spending for a family. If you did not previously have insurance because you could not afford it, why would policy makers think that you can now suddenly come up with several thousand dollars to cover such large deductibles and co-pays?

My deductible is NOT $6,000.00 – keep copying and pasting.

BrigidBernadette April 10, 2014 at 7:41 pm

If you buy a bronze plan– the cheapest available for anyone 30 and older — you’ll have a $3,250 deductible for individual coverage; it’s $6,500 for family coverage. Once you spend that much on medical care, including medication, you’ll still have to pay 40 percent of the cost for many services, including visits to specialists, outpatient hospital services, emergency room visits and lab work.
You’ll also have to pay 40 percent of the cost of non-generic drugs. But each customer’s out-of-pocket costs will be capped at $6,250, or $12,500 for a family plan.
Silver plans have similar deductibles to the bronze ones — $3,000 for medical services, plus $400 for prescription drugs; both of those figures are doubled for family plans.
But the deductible applies to a narrower range of services, including inpatient hospitalization, outpatient procedures, and non-generic drugs. You’d pay fixed copays for office visits ($30 to see a primary care doctor for an injury or illness, $45 for a specialist), lab work and urgent or emergency care.

As with the bronze plan, your out-of-pocket costs would be capped at $6,250 for an individual or $12,500 for family coverage.

Can you read, you solipsistic idiot? Does the world revolve around you? Your plan may be different, I could care less, but don’t pretend others aren’t getting high premiums and high deductibles. Do you really believe that all plans are the same, or that because YOU have a certain plan, millions of others do also? Maybe you should call the NY Times reporters and ask them why they saw fit to put in their paper descriptions of plans that are not your exact plan, I’m sure they’d love to hear from you.

BrigidBernadette April 10, 2014 at 8:52 pm

“If the 33-year-old single father wants the same level of coverage next year as what he has now with the same insurer and the same network of doctors and hospitals, his monthly premium of $233 will more than double. If he wants to keep his monthly payments in check, the Carpentersville resident is looking at an annual deductible for himself and his 7-year-old daughter of $12,700, a more than threefold increase from $3,500 today.”

“But a [Chicago] Tribune analysis shows that 21 of the 22 lowest-priced plans offered on the Illinois health insurance exchange for Cook County have annual deductibles of more than $4,000 for an individual and $8,000 for family coverage.”

BrigidBernadette April 10, 2014 at 9:11 pm

A $5000 Deductible Is Not “Affordable”. Three PCPs in Your County Is Not “Care”
“I am talking about the lower middle income workers who make just enough to qualify for a federal subsidy but who live from paycheck to paycheck without an extra $100 to $200 a month to pitch in to supplement the federal government’s portion. I am talking about those folks who can afford only one “Affordable Care Act” option, the one they call HMO.”
“The second problem with HMO–the huge deductible. I have heard figures that range from $5000 to $12000 a year. I have heard the $5000 more often so I suspect that is the single member deductible and the $12000 is the family deductible. Correct me if I am wrong, but was not that one of the things that the ACA was supposed to fix?”

And ALL insurance markets are not CLOSED for the next seven months – you can type the entire sentence in ALL CAPS and it still will not make it true. When caught in your typical unethical and illegal behavior, start the name calling and obfuscation. Here are some FACTS: the committee has uncovered uncontrovertible evidence that Lerner was directly involved in targeting conservative groups and communicating – illegally – with Rep Elijah Cummings (DEMOCRAT) about said groups and said targeting. I’m not sure if you’re aware of this (as this may be more than your brain can handle), but using the power of the IRS against private citizens for political gain is sort of a no-no. At least to those obey laws (unlike this bunch). Lerner was then held in contempt because she made statements pertinent to this investigation prior to the hearings but, lo and behold, once it became incumbent upon her to testify during the hearings, only then did she plead the fifth. So now that I have proven you wrong – AGAIN – I expect that since you are an ethical and law abiding liberal, you will condemn the actions and lawlessness of this WH and their minions. No?

Why do Republicans continue to pretend that the IRS never targeted liberal groups when it clearly did?

Why does anyone act surprised that when a party that is in a full-on witch hunt questions someone in a threateningly aggressive manner, that person is told to plead the fifth by their legal council to avoid getting railroaded by a bunch of crazed old fucks with a political axe to grind?

I really hope this kind of shit turns out to be the death throes of a dying party that went off the deep end trying to save itself.

Jesus, if the writing wasn’t on the wall already, the real reason Republicans hate this is because they LOVE money in politics, they LOVE being bought. Yes, like the Democrats did Scooter Libby, convicted of not remembering correctly, who’s persecution was pushed by Democrats. Yes, Democrats had their fun with him and having used that tool themselves will try to avoid falling into the same trap he did. Makes one wonder about all the other unconstitutional crap Mr. 0bama has been doing. Makes one wonder about all the unconstitutional crap Mr. Holder has been doing. Trey’s a smart prosecuter who is clearly trying to get answers no matter where they lead. He is “distinquishing himself” quite separtately and responsibly from the Chairman. He is viewed by his colleagues as the top reponsible prosecuter in either house. He has a clarity of logic coupled with an ability to communicate to all levels of legal understanding. Respected by both sides of the aisle, even by Elijah.

this is no democracy when Karl Rove and Koch bros. cannot operate in utter secrecy and tax exemption. No taxation, only secret representation!

These guys could take a dump on the White House lawn
and you’d defend them. How do you explain the drop in press freedom
rankings, the prosecution of whistle blowers, esp as it was the year of
the whistle blower under Bush, they were celebrated and put on the cover
of magazines, this administration persecutes and prosecutes them. The
seizure of the AP’s phone records, the use of IRS to intimidate
political activity only on the conservative side while they fast track
every liberal group to the front of the line. Where are the financial
fat cats that were perp walked under Bush, has there been a single
prosecution of anyone in the financial industry by the DoJ? NO! Obama is a tool
of Wall Street, and yet you keep defending him. When the constitutional duty of congressional oversight is impeded by refusing to comply with legally mandated FOIA requests, you get held in contempt, as Holder was in 2012. You piss yourselves over the Koch bros. and turn a blind eye to Soros, whose meddling in US politics makes the Koch’s look like chump change. I hope every progressive stays the hell out of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY, since the Koch’s gave millions to that museum, and they better not use any of the hospitals they supported with their money.

I hate when Liberals try and twist the rules, and then let people off the hook. Like when they fired a whole bunch of US Attorneys back in 2005 and then tried to hide behind some lacky in the White House, and descriminated against people in their job interviews to join the Justice Department. The Libs are always doing this stuff. And none of those Libs went to jail. And then they had that Hispanic Attorney General – pandering – and then forced him to take the blame and resign. Golly – those Libs have no integrity at all. How about when they were funneling weapons to Iran back in the 80s. And outing the CIA operative in 2004. Those Libs should have been shot for that one. They’re just plain liars and cheats.
