RELIGIOUS RIGHT PITCHES HISSY FIT OVER MARIJUANA, POKER BILLS

“Social conservatives” in South Carolina amaze us with their hypocrisy …

On the one hand, a candidate supporting government funding for abortion and a host of other far left causes evoked nary a peep from the state’s “religious right” during a recent legislative election.

Yet a tightly drawn medical marijuana bill – and legislation lifting a prohibition against card games – is somehow worthy of a stealthy warning from one of the God Squad’s bag men.

“You need to tell Tom Davis to stop poking Christians in the face,” one prominent social conservative activist told us earlier this week. “These heathen bills he’s introducing are not going unnoticed.”

Heathen?

Sheesh …

Unlike a lot of “Republicans” who want to expand government’s reach into our kitchens and bedrooms (as if the GOP rape of our wallets and pocketbooks wasn’t enough), Davis is actually fighting to get government off of our backs.

And his bills passed the S.C. Senate unanimously, the last time we checked …

Honestly we wish Davis were being more aggressive in pushing the decriminalization of marijuana and gambling – the latter of which is currently a state-run monopoly.

Still, it’s nice to see at least one member of the GOP leading on liberty issues …

Hahahaha…Liberal-Tarianism ALWAYS seems like such a GREAT idea, until you encounter people who have some morals…LMAO…Going through life expecting no responsibility, and to be lauded as a leader, is great…

Too bad imbeciles like Davis and FITS are too stupid to realize drugs kill, gamblers starve their children and prostitutes are FORCED into the giving away their bodies, more times than not…

You see: It all sounds so good on paper…but there is a little something called REALITY, Dumb@$$..and the people paying the bills are a lot smarter than you THINK you are…

Will, can you explain to me Libertarian strategy for winning and accomplishing anything. They attack crony capitalist. They attack neocons. They attack social conservatives. You act like those groups don’t have any constituents. Who is left to vote for libertarians. If you want to get a libertarian elected, which one of these groups would you want to compromise with? Never mind. You gotta have your weed.

Reply
John Galt was an Idiot April 9, 2014 at 8:02 am

You are making a big assumption, that libertarians want to “win.”Most of them appear content to simply bitch and moan about those who do win, then adopt a sort of faux moral superiority as if they really have all the answers and simply float above it all.

Reply
Mike at the Beach April 8, 2014 at 11:22 pm

I’ll be damned if weed isn’t some powerful shit, and I’m not even talking about the clowns who smoke it. Just the mention of it sends the right wing cuckoos into aneurysm-land, and libertarians (and a certain sizable sliver of the left) seem positively obsessed by the evils of MJ prohibition. I don’t see it as that important either way- it’s practically a religion for some of the MJ freaks, and Bible thumpers act like the world would stop spinning if it was legalized. Sure it would be tough on society as a whole, but so is freaking booze. Good Lord, it almost makes me say just legalize the shit, tax the hell out of it (like booze and tobacco), and sit back and enjoy the show. I feel bad, though. Progressives would say that my kids are already pretty unfairly advantaged, and legalization would make things even better for them. Fuck it – go for it. Vote for Ravenel and let’s go all “Colorado.”

Tom was a target of the Democrats in the Toal election. I don’t have the specifics of what pieces of gold he was promised by McConnell, Harrell and Toal, but one of the promises I understand he received was that Toal and the Democrats would get the black votes in Beaufort County rented ( as Harpo calls it) for the day for him in 2 years. “They” also got to Tom’s little buddy, Campsen.

The type of marijuana Mr. Davis’ bill legalizes can’t even get an individual high, as it contains a minimal amount of THC and high amounts of CBD. BTW, Christians, there’s NOTHING compassionate about denying an individual their God-given right to treat their or their children’s medical conditions with a substance that has been proven to stop life-threatening seizures.
