PETTY POLITICS 101 …

Multiple “Republican” lawmakers in the South Carolina House and Senate have confirmed to FITS that College of Charleston trustee Dan Ravenel was booted from his post this week because he opposed the controversial hiring of S.C. lieutenant governor Glenn McConnell as the school’s next president.

This theory – first raised by S.C. Sen. Marlon Kimpson (D-Charleston) – was referenced in a story appearing in this week’s editions of The (Charleston, S.C.) Post and Courier.

“Ravenel ultimately voted for McConnell on March 22, when the college’s board unanimously supported him as the school’s next leader,” the paper reported. “But sources with ties to board said Ravenel initially was a strong supporter of another candidate, only agreeing to vote for McConnell when it was clear he would win.”

Or when a deal was cut …

Ravenel had no opposition for his seat on the college’s board of trustees, but was rejected by lawmakers anyway – ostensibly because he wasn’t sufficiently outspoken in opposing a pro-gay required reading selection at the school.

According to our sources, though, the vote against Ravenel was directly linked to his opposition to McConnell.

Not only that, lawmakers tell FITS the vote against Ravenel was orchestrated by powerful S.C. Sen. Hugh Leatherman – who was instrumental in pressuring trustees to vote for McConnell in the first place.

Ah, South Carolina …

If this is true, it is very sad. Dan Ravenel is a very good man and a good person. He has done alot for the C of C.

SC General Assembly is heading down a slippery slope. Very, very, very bad precedence. Is there anybody in Columbia willing to do the right thing, just 1 goddamn time!???

Senator Hugh Leatherman of Florence is the spawn of Satan. His children, the little Devils of Florence, own this state lock stock and barrel. It is surprisingly easy to loot the treasury when the gang is white and well educated.

well look at what happened when Pete Storm wanted to oppose William Hubbard, who will double as USC trustee and the head of the US Bar Association with offices in Chicago…wonder what he got as pay back !?! SC’s state legislators, college trustees and presidents (yes you too Harris Pastides!) and f…ing lawyers use this state like a all-you-can eat buffet…

Leatherman has billions to use to get what he wants. He wants a lot and he gets it.
It must be nice to have unlimited amounts of other peoples money to spend.

Not just he, Eddie Floyd, trustee at USC also pushed for that. With a bit of luck and a lot of inbreeding this behavior will regulate itself in a few hundred years. By that time SC will be well established as a third world country…the stench of south kakkalina politics is a lot to bear, even in these twilight days of the US of A.

Mr. Dan Ravenel exemplifies principles that most in our state legislature do not have, nor understand, and he paid a price for that.

Next time any of you statist ass kissers want to hold any of these cockroaches in government up on a pedestal, think of people like Ravenel-who do what they think is right and end up disemboweled by a pack of elected hyenas.

Reduce government to a little as possible. It’s evil & uncontrollable. The worst in our society reside in it, because it take s a charismatic sociopath, appealing to demagoguery to get elected. The worst possible people not only occupy it, but thrive in it and destroy all that is good.

This is also South Carolina, where the legislators often make themselves look like asses but still get re-elected. I’m not sure I’d impugn the whole concept of government just because the voters in our state can’t tell a honest man from a horse thief.

” I’m not sure I’d impugn the whole concept of government just because the voters in our state can’t tell a honest man from a horse thief.”

Seems like a pretty good reason to do so to me.

Do we know which legislators voted NAY? This is outrageous. Its the very essence of what our founding fathers feared….unbridled power. Are we staring at another episode of lost trust in our legislature?

Mr. Ravenel is not the only person to be dumped on in the races for the Charleston Board. McConnell was up to his eyeballs in the board race involving John Bush. Everyone here in the state house knows that Francis Marion lobbyist Dan Dukes conspired with McConnell, Leatherman and Paul Campbell to get Bush’s opponent to drop out of the race. Dukes and Bush have been inseperable up here trying to work the house and senate to get votes to keep his board seat. Bush’s opponent is a lawyer whose firm does a lot of state business. When it became obvious that Bush was going to get his ass kicked his opponent got a visit from Campbell and other senators. The message was get out or lose state business.

Said it before, the C of C board is now irrelevant, neutered, and useless. McConnel has shown he has more power than these (now) tituly bosses. They should all resign, McConnell now and only reports to the god of his making, a golden calf.

I wonder how McConnell’s contract negotiations are going? I’m going out on a limb and say he will be the highest paid President in the history of C of C with school portion & the foundation board supplement.

I’d love to see some very brave students exercise their constitutionally protected right to speech by reenacting a slave whipping in the middle of campus in honor of their new president’s affinity for real life confederate history. Stick the dog’s face in his own shit, so to speak.

It is punishable as a felony for retaliation in the free exercise of a secured constitutional and civil right. Because of Ravenel voting against someone he did not wish to vote for, he was single out and punished for exercising said right. Under the constitution and laws of the United States and the constitution and laws of South Carolina, McConnell and his cronies are now in very DEEP SHIT!!!!! They want a war? They got it. The people are going to bulldoze McConnell and his thugs. The numbers are increasing in opposition to these pig shits. :Lawsuits come … and with them comes persecuting for pulling this crap. Nobody can save McConnell and his fucktards now … nobody at all. They can grab their ankles and kiss their fucking assess GOODBYE!!!!!!

Leatherman is going to end up getting baseball batted in the face at this rate. The entire student body at the C of C is now down with going into full protest mode over this crapola. Next up, effigies of McConnell and Leatherman will be torched on campus.
