THE PRESIDENT’S PROMISE IS WORKING … IN REVERSE
Surprise, surprise … except not really.
“Obamacare” – U.S. President Barack Obama’s socialized medicine monstrosity – is doing the exact opposite of what we were promised it would do.
According to a new report from Paul Bedard of The Washington Examiner, “families are paying an average of $663 a month and singles $274 a month, far more than before Obamacare kicked in.”
How much more? According to data from eHealthInsurance.com, the family payments are up 56 percent from this time a year ago while individual payments are up by 39 percent from last February.
Wow … just … WOW.
Yet Obama and his allies continue to refer to this law as the “affordable care” act. Funny.
“In an Obama administration, we’ll lower premiums by up to $2,500 for a typical family per year,” then-U.S. Senator Obama said during a June 2008 campaign swing through Virginia. “We won’t do all this twenty years from now, or ten years from now. We’ll do it by the end of my first term as President of the United States.”
Yeah … how’d that promise pan out?
Not so well. At the end of Obama’s first term, premiums for the average family with an employer-provided plan increased by $2,400 according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.
Now they are skyrocketing even further …
Viva la hope and change, people …

Just wait ’til these fools, who need the healthy and contributing, figure out only the sick, broke and entitled are signing up….
You have to be one Stupid Some Beech to believe anything the liberals tell you…but somehow (read corrupt and lying media) they get elected over and over…
2,700 pages of law, 21,000 pages of regulations = $2,500 in savings…in a pig’s eye.
Just had a child….thanks to Obamacare not only have my premiums increased over the past 3 years…but my out-of-pocket cost owed to the hospital for the delivery and newborn care was over $5K..(My last child born 4 years ago at the same hospital was only $1K…same plan)…Obamacare has literally cost my family thousands of dollars…so much for hope and change!
Health care costs rise past the rate of inflation, have done so for quite some time buddy.
So are you admitting that Obama’s promise that the ACA would lower costs was not true? Or are you going to claim he meant the rate of increase would be lower?
You are right it has been going up and will it continue, two of the major reasons Medicare and Medicaid both government programs.
Let me tell you a true story. In 1969 my son was born. I didn’t have insurance coverage because it was a pre-existing condition. I had just gotten out of the service in Feb and my son was born in Mar. I paid the hospital $300 cash at check-in and it covered everything for the five day stay. Four years later my daughter was born in the same hospital and the stay was five days, the cost $2,000.
Medicare was signed into law in 1965, enacted in 1966.
And wages usually fail to keep up with inflation. Can we agree on ending the Fed?
But Obamacare was supposed to “fix” that
Single payer, Will – remember?
I would’ve noticed 56% inflation in the last year.
Republicans killed my whole family, and then made me pay for the bullets.
Dude that was China, you’ve got to stop mixing up your past lives…
If it talks like a Republican, and walks like a Republican – it’s a Republican.
Your premiums would have increased without Obamacare.
Next time have her swallow that lil booger.
Start the countdown clock until outside fact-checkers pick this claim apart. Meanwhile, it will become a “factoid” for one segment of the blogosphere.
Ehh, I dunno. The system itself has not changed significantly at the end of the day. ACA helps greatly with access, but as long as the for-profit middlemen and employers have a big say in what our coverage is, who we can go see, etc., the consumer will be eternally fucked.
It’d be nice to have comprehensive single payer coverage and entirely optional supplemental insurance, real cost controls, very low overhead costs, but no, can’t have real universal health care! Slippery slope to USSR to the millionth power, or something.

Well, let’s look at it this way:
How many times have you said to yourself, “You know, I could save money if I just had 1 choice of TV instead of the complications and cost of all those different TV’s available. We should just have 1 manufacturer and give TV’s to everyone.”
or
“You know, if the government just went into making cars and we eliminated all the other manufacturers I know I could save money while providing cars for everyone.”
For most people, the above scenario would be fantasy land, but luckily for us it’s now reality…in healthcare. Yippieeeee!
How many times have you said to yourself, “You know, I could save money if I just had 1 choice of road to drive on instead of the complications and cost of making waterways for boats that could be built alongside. We should just have 1 road and let everyone use it.”
How many times have you said to yourself, “You know, I could save money if I just had 1 choice of keyboard layout design to type on instead of the complications and cost of making a keyboard with keys in different places. We should just have 1 keyboard layout design and let everyone use it.”
I agree with all that, which is why it should all be privatized so one source/provider doesn’t have a monopoly on any of it and we have more options.
wait, wait… don’t tell me – and we’ll all have double what we make now!
Your right, the solution is to have the state provide everything. They can keep costs low and provide the best service. My bad.
Why even bother to have anyone else doing anything? The state is the best for everything.
You stooging ok Bo,but how bout my tax cuts?
You can go suck a dick fascist. The moment tax cuts are for everyone is the moment you inner Benito rolls out.
Civilization. It’s the new thing… the bronze age is over, dude. We’re going the *other* way.
Yes, multiple wars & massive debt is quite civilizing.
Thanks god for technology/scientists and what’s left of unhindered markets or we’d still be there.
Wrong midget if you think I missed it
I hit it long and gone, I’m tripping on, tripping on
Wrong midget, no I couldn’t miss it
I’m taking bites out of life’s ass as big as I can
No, single payer just leads to a screwed up NHS type system with rationed care and people dying from lack of access that the government take over was supposed to do away with. Life is about trade offs, but the statists pretend you can eat your cake and have it too.
Is it not the statists who eat your cake?
No, the statists have his cake.
DEATH PANELS!!! PULL THE PLUG ON GRANDMA!!
Actually, grandma will never get hooked up to the machine under single payer. The wait list is just too long, you see. Or the particular treatment is not approved.

I like the way this boy thinks!
CL – Did you finally renounce your American citizenship and move to the United Kingdom?? You could’ve just moved to Texas, you know.
It’s liberals that always threaten that. I like living in the greatest experiment in liberty in the history of the world. You are on the side trying to “fundamentally transform” that.
I’ve certainly never threatened that – never had a “liberal” friend threaten that either. Not sure from which hole you pull all of your poppycock. (Wait – I take that back – I do know which hole . . .) And seems to me it is always folks just like you that are threatening to secede just because you do not get your way 100% or if an election does not go your way (understand why I previously mentioned the great state of Texas?) . I’ve also never gone bat shit crazy simply because the greatest experiment in liberty in the history of the world resulted in the election and re-election of a Black President. CL – you are only concerned about your “liberty” – not anyone else’s. Think “for all” for a change – not “for CL only”.
You are offended by me responding to your unfair stereotyping by complaining that I am engaging in unfair stereotyping. Got it.
But as to who does this more frequently, can you name a prominent conservative that has threatened to leave the country if an election does not go their way? Off the top of my head I can think of several liberals. Even if you really thought this was a common conservative notion, why make the idiotic suggestion to move to a country with the very single payer system I was critiquing? I am sure it sounded clever in your head, but unfortunately it does not work so well on the page.
“CL – you are only concerned about your ‘liberty’ – not anyone else’s. Think “for all” for a change – not ‘for CL only’.”
A strange conception of liberty that requires me to go along with the collective. Pace Indigo Montoya, I don’t think that that word means what you think it means.
I would say it is the liberals who care only for their own liberty. There is not a group in this country less tolerant of the beliefs of others than so called progressives. Just ask the owners of Hobby Lobby.
“I’ve also never gone bat shit crazy…”
I would not be so sure. But as to your oh so predictable allegations of racism, I oppose Obama (just like I opposed Kerry and will oppose Hillary) because his policies are misguided and harmful. We are seeing the fruits of that. The fact that your ability to defend him is so pathetically facile that you have to hurl insults is telling. One might even call it crazy. Kind of like the vile, racist filth progressives spew at conservative minorities.
The field for the GOP nomination for 2016 will likely include Rubio, Cruz, Jindal, West, and Carson. All of these politicians, with the possible exception of Jindal, owe their political ascendancy to the Tea Party, which you idiotically slander as racist.
CL – you are a pompous windbag and full of shit – nothing more. I am simply going to ignore most of your banal tripe and allow you to prove yourself to be the Compulsive Liar from which you derive your posting name. Please show me where I “idiotically slandered the Tea Party as racist”. It ought to be good – it always is when you spew forth your bullshit.
I know it is hard for you to remember what you post, because it is so lacking in substance. But you claimed opposition to Obama was because he was black, So yes you did slander people as racist.
You are breaking my heart by pledging to ignore my posts. You mean I will be deprived of your idiotic, expletive-filled rants?
Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah….
IRS! Benghazi! Obamacare! Obama taking white people’s guns! Obama hates white people – hIs mother and grandparents included, of course! Socialist! Communist! Where’s the birth certificate! Death Panels! Pulling the plug on Ma, Pa, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Lucille and Uncle Virgil! Obama forcing all white babies to be aborted! Oh Lord, help me! Did I forget to mention – IRS! Benghazi! Blah! Blah! Blah!
You can’t argue with what people are paying every month.
Mine has NOT gone up – go figure.
Mine HAS gone up- $55 a month. The only comparable plan offered by Obamacare is $80 a month more expensive. The obamacare plan is slightly better than my current plan though.
is anyone really surprised by this. Seriously, you know this was his plan all along, right? To muck it up so bad, the government has to step in with a single payer system…not rocket science. Just the first phase of an awful plan
If family payments were really up 56%, people would be rioting in the streets, including me. If the figure quoted by the far-righters at the Examiner was 5% instead of 56%, I’d say, “Okay, that might be true. Looks like ObamaCare isn’t working as well as promised.” But 56% is just stupid and obviously untrue. This is the problem with conservative propaganda. It’s so outlandish that only an idiot could believe it.
You’d riot over an extra $200 a month?
uh Fits, this piece makes you seem a little gullible. i can tell just from your 3rd hand reporting that the initial report is nonsense. why can’t you?
Once again. My family’s rates, which I pay with no help, have decreased %20 due to competition. You folks sucking insurance off your employers ass deserve everything you get.
