“CHEAPEST GAS IN AMERICA” ON THE RISE …
Gas prices in South Carolina currently average $3.22 per gallon of regular unleaded – up from $3.14 when we last checked.
The good news? According to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge report, that’s the cheapest gas available anywhere in the United States. The bad news? South Carolinians are dirt poor – meaning that even though gas is cheap here, our citizens are still paying through the nose for it.
In fact as we’ve pointed out on numerous previous occasions, South Carolinians pay more of their income on fuel than residents of any other state except Mississippi.
Palmetto State “Republicans” looking to raise the gas tax never mention that bit of information in their talking points … just like the state’s liberal mainstream media never mentions South Carolina’s low incomes when trumpeting that the Palmetto State has the “lowest tax burden in America.”
Anyway … these “Republicans” just borrowed half a billion dollars for the state’s bloated highway system, which continues to throw its resources behind totally unnecessary transportation projects.
South Carolina currently administers the nation’s fourth-largest highway system – a whopping 41,613 miles of state-maintained roadways. That’s preposterous for a state that ranks No. 40 nationally in terms of size (and No. 24 in terms of population), but it’s what happens when politics dictates the process.
And when “reforms in name only” are all our so-called leaders can muster …
As for funding, according to data compiled by the Reason Foundation, South Carolina ranked No. 2 in the nation in total taxpayer disbursements per mile of state-maintained roadway in 2007. In 2008 and 2009 – the latest years for which data is available – the Palmetto State led the nation in funding per mile. Meanwhile, from 2007-09 South Carolina led the nation in taxpayer disbursements per mile of bridges.
Amazing, isn’t it?
“Republicans” led by S.C. Senators Hugh Leatherman (RINO-Florence) and Ray Cleary (RINO-Horry) are proposing a whopping 125 percent increase in the state’s gasoline tax, hoping to raise it from 16 to 36 cents over a ten year period beginning in 2015.
Thankfully moderate Democratic S.C. Rep. Bakari Sellers – who is running for lieutenant governor – has vowed to block this increase.
We oppose the gas tax hike – and support Sellers in his efforts to achieve modest gas tax relief.

That’s a great ass.
She has a fat arm
She’s gotta do what’s she’s gotta do… a good woman has a fat arm, and strong thighs.
Don’t be a hater!
We have a president who said he WANTS the American people to pay more. He thinks you have endless pockets, despite the fact he has been bleeding our jobs, and everything else cost more…including his healthcare scheme, that will tell you what can be treated, or not…
Obama does not give a $#!*…
PS: FITS I thought your handlers, and puppet-master, advised you to lay off the skanks, in an effort to not accentuate your immaturity, inexperience and lack of talent and insight.
Harwood, June 10, 2008: As difficult as
this is for consumers right now, is, in fact, high gas prices what we
need to let the market work, a line incentive so that we do shift to
alternative means of energy?
Obama: Well, I think that we have been slow to move
in a better direction when it comes to energy usage. And the president,
frankly, hasn’t had an energy policy. And as a consequence, we’ve been
consuming energy as if it’s infinite. We now know that our demand is
badly outstripping supply with China and India growing as rapidly as
they are. So…
Harwood: So could these high prices help us?
Obama: I think that I would have preferred a gradual
adjustment. The fact that this is such a shock to American pocketbooks
is not a good thing. But if we take some steps right now to help people
make the adjustment, first of all by putting more money into their
pockets, but also by encouraging the market to adapt to these new
circumstances more quickly, particularly US automakers, then I think
ultimately, we can come out of this stronger and have a more efficient
energy policy than we do right now.

Context is a helluva thing. When gas is cheap, no one gives a fuck about how much America consumes, even though it is our lifeblood, and even though it is a finite resource. God forbid if it takes us hitting peak oil to finally see the writing on the wall, because by then we won’t be able to brake in time to save our own asses.
Funny, that isn’t a foreign concept to the right, either:

I’m still laughing my ass off at all the assholes who bought Hummers to “show their patriotism” during the Iraq war.
Solyndra went out of business, the Volt is nicknamed Firestarter and even Tesla is combusting, but not internally…
Looks like the democrats and Obama are about as F*#king WRONG as you can be…and what’s so bad: WE have to pay for your Ignorance and arrogance…
Can’t wait to kick that S#!* to the curb…beginning in 2014.
TBG thought we were due to hit “peak oil” in the ’70s…or was it the ’60s…or the ’50s?
There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, and it is common among men:
A man with riches, wealth, and honor, so that he wants nothing for his soul of all that he desires, yet he can’t enjoy it because he must work to obtain it. When he dies, a stranger will enjoy it: This is an evil disease.
If a man should have a hundred children, and live many years, but his soul is filled with hate, and his heart is not filled with good, and yet he live forever; I say, that abortion is better than he.
He who spits upon the poor, spits upon his own character, and becomes a pariah in his own land, a mark is on his forehead put there by his self-indulgence. His gluttony alone lights his darkness – and his eyes become covered over with scales – he sees not at all.
All of his communication becomes infected. The sickness dribbles out of his mouth and spreads from his soul into his limbs and organs, and finally, he becomes a tortured soul…
Long life to such a one.
I paid $1.87 a gallon the day Bozo was inaugurated.
I’m still trying to figure out what the picture has to do with gas, but I approve.
Will always throws up a pic of a nice female turdcutter when he’s talking about fuel prices- makes the topic more palatable…
Dumbo Bible thumper. Sound it out. “Gas” and “ass” are a rhyme. Who needs a reason for a picture like that anyway?. It is self-justifying. Res ipsa loquitur.
Replace the winter gas with the summer gas. It happens every time seasons change.
yup… several inches up
I think most of us definitely noticed a rise at the pump.
I am not saying nothin, but looks like a man hand to me. If fits reveals that this a guy a lot people will be angry.
Maybe, you haven’t any in so long that you don’t remember what it looks like.
