In a story that has gone blissfully under-reported by American’s mainstream media, the chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff – General Martin Dempsey – ratcheted up the rhetoric against Russia last week in response to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
In response to a question from PBS’ Judy Woodruff about recent escalations in America’s Eastern European military presence, Dempsey said the arms build up was “clearly trying to send a message to Russia.”
“We’re trying to tell them not to escalate this thing further into Eastern Ukraine, and allow the conditions to be set for some kind of resolution in the Crimea,” Dempsey told Woodruff.
Dempsey added that military responses haven’t been taken off the table as the Ukraine crisis continues to escalate.
“The message we are sending militarily is to our NATO allies,” Dempsey said.
Wait … what?
The United States clearly isn’t contemplating some sort of armed intervention in Eastern Europe, right? Right?
“That’s a question that I think deserves to be assessed and reassessed and refreshed as this thing evolves,” Dempsey told Woodruff. “But remember, we do have treaty obligations with our NATO allies. And I have assured them that if that treaty obligation is triggered, we would respond.”

As this website has noted, America has no business engaging in this conflict – militarily or financially.
“Policing the world (or attempting to) is one of the reasons current and future generations of American taxpayers are staring down a $17 trillion debt,” we wrote. “We cannot afford to get involved – but even if we could, there is simply no compelling national interest to justify such involvement.”
Nevertheless America’s “War Gods” continue to beat the drum in support of such an ill-fated intervention …
In fact, in a GOP fundraising email released this week, for example, war-mongering U.S. Sen. John McCain (RINO-Arizona) referred to Russian president Vladimir Putin as a “tyrant hell-bent on restoring the Soviet empire.”

Clinton looked like a F*#king idiot, as Obama does now, threatening Iraq, but doing nothing. But it provided an aside from Monica. Russia provides distraction to dolts, like FITS, from the Nuclear political bomb Obamacare is…That’s all this is.
All of the US’s credibility was gone in the 90s because Clinton kept threatening, yet we all knew he did not have the B@!!$ to make an attack on anything more than a helpless campaign worker or an intern…
Bush got approval from Congress, and the American people, to follow up on all of Clinton’s threats, and restore the US’s position as a defender of Freedom..
If the left would not have bludgeoned Bush and the US soldiers who took Iraq for freedom, we’d be viewed as a country to respect…

There will be no military action on the part of the United States concerning the situation in Ukraine,nor should there be.Americans do,however, seem to enjoy a little saber rattling here and there.
I never underestimate the stupidity of our masters or their propensity to build a mountain of skulls in the name of “national security” as a result.
Mr. Folks, you seem to imply that the $17T debt is because of the military but if you cut out all military spending for the last five years Mr. 0bama still would have averaged $700B+ a year deficit and nearly $4T debt. Defense spending takes less than 20% of the federal budget so I am inclined to believe that there are other factors that account for the intolerable debt this nation has.

Yes there is that as you say and here is the fact that the United States spends more on defense than the next ten nations combined.That list includes Russia.
That is one of the things I agree with Trump on. These other countries are milking US dry. They should pay for our services or we leave them to fend for themselves . We have wasted “invested” far too much money, blood and lives everywhere but here. It’s time we brought out stuff home or others pay for it.
Obama spends at a rate of four time more than Bush. And Bush was addressing thr military and national security issues that Clinton has negledted for eight year (see 911)….And Bush’s economy could more than absorb the costs, if the post-Iraq victory would have been handled correctly.

Ah, the Republican talking points. Saying all the bad things you are supposed to say about Obama and Democrats. Mr. Obama spent the money. Those fact challenged Republicans show up again. Just how did Obama do that? The President has no authority to spend money not appropriated by the legislature. All spending must be approved by the house. So Republicans had to be involved.
By the way the projected annual deficit has been falling every year since 2010.

A deficit is a one year figure, your statement is mostly meaningless on the basis of the outrageous deficits that had been instituted. Even more important, they aren’t to be confused with debt or the long term CBO outlooks on the dreary debt outlook:

If you add up the cost of the “Great Society” since 1964 to today is strangely comes to almost $17 trillion. I wonder why ????? The wars we have fought including Vietnam forward don’t touch what has been flushed down the toilet of govt. “taking care” of US.

Yes, I understand your point but consider this: That scene from Blazing Saddles was, in my opinion, one of the funniest things ever to jump out from a screen. About the third or fourth time I saw the Cleavon Little & the Town folk react to Gabby’s hollering I snarfed milk and cookie crumbs out of my nose.

In retrospect, I guess that I should have said something less obnoxious like the following:
