I think ol’ Frank will tell Tanner and USC to go fuck themselves at the end of the season. Coaching basketball at USC is only for the masochistic.

My son and I went to a game last season during the holiday break. He definitely has a foul mouth. Getting a player’s attention is one thing, but complete verbal abuse is another. Kind of reminds me of a story that appeared here on FITS last week about good ole Steve Taneyhill. The faster that Martin gets gone – the better. I hope that Ray Tanner can find a “class act ” coach for basketball.
The bigger challenge will be to find someone who wants to come here. At the moment the only reason to take this job would be if nothing else were available and for the money.

I think Frank Martin is VERY frustrated and it shows. I would hate to be on the receiving end of that glare! He is a great basketball coach but he’s his own worst enemy. If he would just his anger under control, I think the program would move in the right direction. If not, we will continue to see players leave.

Frank Martin is an accomplished coach in men’s division one basketball. His ability to recruit and develop players is well known as his team accomplishments exemplify. Our student athletes have a pattern of 35-4 point runs opening second halves. We are not obligated to extend player scholarships to under performing student-athletes. I suggest revoking scholarships for student-athletes that refuse to be coached and recruit some more freshmen. This is a young team. Some players have an attitude with the coaching staff. I say pull their scholarships and have tryouts each year for those players that desire to compete at this level but refuse to be coached.

This is really not all that unreasonable. Just look at what Clowney pulled last year. These man-children are getting full rides to perform. If they tried half as hard once they got there, as they did to get there, maybe coaches like Martin wouldn’t have to get so fired up.

Every player that signs with Martin knows that he is very hard on his players. I understand that fans don’t want to hear it, but it is not inappropriate to his players as they expect it.

Cussing on the sidelines isn’t the problem…a large percentage of coaches do that. There’s a big difference in cussing and verbally abusing a player…just sayin’.
IMO, Tanner wouldn’t have done anything about this if Martin hadn’t added the “asshole” (direct insult to the player) to the tirade.
