Well I saw the “Pilot” and its all I need to see, to know that this show puts SC in bad light. Of course I guess there is little damage one could do to the state’s reputation. Everyone in the nation thinks we are a bunch of hicks anyway.
Ravenel was riding polo ponies, partying, and hanging out with a bunch of dumb kids half his age. There was some kid who is in the CSOL, some kid who thinks he is a musician whose family is from Charleston and whose mother has a pink hand gun. Some guy from Boykin SC and everyone is going on and on about how he is a SC Blue Blood and the Boykin Spaniel was named after his family. A bunch of sleazy looking girls hooking up with the CSOL guy and the guy from Boykin; and collapsing after another night of partying in Charleston.
These people look like a bunch of spoiled dumb rich kids with little or no morals; and Ravenel looks like a creepy old man hanging out with them. As I said earlier I guess he was their drug dealer. Otherwise they would never hang out with him.
The only redeeming value in this show is I now know all the real Charleston blue bloods have died. Otherwise this show would never be aired. It makes “Charleston Society” look like nouveau riche white trash.
Poor people acting that way would in fact be called white trash. Rich are just called eccentric. Trashy but eccentric.

The irony of the show is Ravenel is the only rich Charlestonian on the cast. There is a rich guy from Los Angeles as well but the other four are nobodies. Why a 50 year old man with money would lower himself for a reality show with a bunch of kids is beyond me. But nothing Thomas has done (federal prison, DUI, getting 21 year old pregnant) makes any sense anyway. Thanks for the laughs Thomas, Charleston is laughing at you, not with you.

Looks like the guy from the preview episode JD Madison who they introduce as Thomas’s best friend owes quite a few people in Charleston money, or should I say has alot of people after him for money. Do they not do background checks on these people before they put them on TV.

Yeah, he wasn’t even relevant then – when he was treasurer after his resignation – and half a decade – can’t we be done with him. I was so excited when he was SUPPOSED to be renouncing his citizenship and leaving.

I like him. I think that what he says is real and the truth behind it is, all of you do too. I love to hear the people gather in groups and talk about others, but when the group breaks and everyone goes home for the night they stop by the liquor store or their girlfriends on the way home to the wife. They converse with their girlfriends and liquor store clerks about how their wives treat them and how messed up society is as a whole. I like T-Rav because he is real and stands and speaks his mind. A guy I worked for in the time share biz had a serious cocaine addiction (don’t they all?) and he used to brag about going to Charleston to party at T-Rav’s. Also bragged that Limbaugh was at one party he went to. I always wondered if that bloated piece of shit got a bump or two. Obvious he was not addicted to that substance though, from looking at his frame.
Ravenel’s ‘attack’ on other politicians is intellectually immature & stupidly in opposition to support of individual liberties. As is Folk’s support.
1) Personal activities have nothing to do with PUBLIC servant job. Until activities violate terms of office.
2)TERMS: Use public dollars for public purpose. Officeholder promise by sworn oath, not to use office to usurp citizen master’s will, and respect citizen rule (our laws).
3) When politicians enact/ignore law with their whim, they corrupt rule of law, usurp citizen will with their own, and render written laws arbitrary and capricious.
4) Rav claims above his conviction under our rule of law is ‘not criminal’. In other posts he argues his opinion of the law as justification for his disregard. Whaddya know. Just like all the other ‘cookie cutter politicians’.
5) In a Republic, unflinching respect for law that embodies citizen power to self govern gives each individual tools to remedy/redress/protect themselves against subjugation by popular/stonger group. Ravenel’s disdain for the law is disdain for the only mechanism that can protect individual liberties.
I AM NOT implying every citizen must blindly comply to law. I AM stating a politician’s personal decision to ignore law by personal whim isn’t within allowable discretion of public servant.
