Most of the bar in Charleston have a high opinion of Scarlett, just ask around. The monkeys have taken over the zoo at SCACDL. Too bad, really.
I don’t see how any citizen who kept up with her participation in the wrist slapping ‘investigation’ of the child molestation at The Citadel could have a very ‘high opinion’ of Scarlett.
Scarlet had an assistant solicitor who admitted to texting repeatedly a sitting juror during the trial. That assistant was allowed to stay on her payroll for SIX years before resigning as a result of the prosecutorial misconduct. Old Lawyer must be ethically challenged too if he condones her egrecious missteps.
She complained about Justice Beatty’s alleged remarks at a meeting she skipped. As the saying goes, a hit dog hollers.
Pursuant to FOIA requests, I have received from The Citadel a litany of friendly — almost jovial — e-mails between that governmental body and Ms. Wilson’s staff concerning “Summer Camp Student X” — now living in Alabama — who at age 12 was molested by a “Summer Camp Counselor” — a Citadel Cadet whom I have identified.
Heavily redacted and lacking the required attachments, these emails refer to SLED agent Y who supposedly investigated this sexual abuse of a 12-year-old in 1986.
I know that SLED agent Y conducted a deficient investigation. The reason is that both the victim and the perpetrator now live out-of-state. So, why care — technically, it is out of their jurisdiction.
Neither Solicitor Wilson nor SLED put any effort into this investigation of the alleged perpetrator — Citadel Class of 1986 — because his CIVIL statute of limitation has expired.
His criminal statute of limitation has not expired, however. And he has an Atlanta-based attorney who made inquiry of The Citadel who sent her a “drop dead” letter in 2013.
Neither Solicitor Wilson nor SLED bothered to determine if the perpetrator — now living in another state — is listed as a sex predator in that other state. That consumes valuable time and resources, and does not produce headline news for Solicitor Wilson — most interested in Class 8 (violent) crimes that do garner headlines.
Pity the poor child, rescued by his parents shortly after the molestation occurred.
Regardless, I have not given up, and am researching on my own the status of the victim and the perpetrator.
If the perpetrator is “active” and listed as a sex offender in his new abode, this will be published.
The victim, now in his 30s, lives in Alabama.

Even the Charleston County Public defenders office is in need of a fine tooth comb audit. Ashley Pennington (Chief PD) in that county allegedly seems be allowing the abuse and mis-use of our money via indigent funds. In one matter, a decades long time employee of that office – Pennington approved the use of public tax money for the criminal defense of her son (James Randall Inabinett) who I understand has income that disqualifies him from a public paid attorney.
Women professionals once dressed like professionals…of course, you don’t have to be a professional anything to hold elective office.

I don’t know a whole bunch about Wilson so the allegations may or may not be true, but ask anyone who’s been in court (or worked on a case) with Bobby Frederick and they should tell you – he’s about a kooky acting asshat…
If Jean Toal’s attorney disciplinary system was not so political, corrupt and used solely to help Jean, most of these issues would have been taken care of years ago. Instead, Toal and Beatty use the system for their own political benefit. Ask anyone who knows.
The acts described in the correspondence to the Attorney General are inexcusable. Do they not care that trying to convict a man or woman at any cost could potentially result in the incarceration of scores of innocent men and women, or do they just not give a damn?
