JOEL LOURIE ALLEGEDLY BULLIED OFFICIALS TO KEEP BROTHER-IN-LAW IN JOB

Democratic S.C. Sen. Joel Lourie was ripped (rightfully) this week after allegations surfaced that he bullied local election commissioners into keeping his brother-in-law on the government dole.

Ah, nepotism …

Lourie’s brother-in-law, Garry Baum, was an employee at the Richland County Election Commission – which FITS readers will recall is the corrupt-to-the-core local bureaucracy responsible for a $1.2 billion theft of taxpayer money in 2012.

According to the commission’s recently ousted director Howard Jackson, Baum made multiple errors leading up to the November 2013 elections. But when Jackson attempted to take these issues to the election board he was told to “stand down.”

SCGOP chairman Matt Moore blasted Lourie over the allegations.

“It is a gross abuse of power that Senator Lourie feels his brother-in-law’s cushy job is more important than the citizens of Richland County’s constitutionally guaranteed right to vote,” Moore said. “Senator Lourie should immediately apologize to Richland County residents for any intimidation on his part that led to his brother-in-law not being fairly disciplined for violating their constitutional rights.”

Lourie should apologize …

But Moore’s party doesn’t have a leg to stand on when it comes to nepotism. Look no further than S.C. Senate President John Courson – or Gov. Nikki Haley.

This website has consistently urged lawmakers to enact tough anti-nepotism legislation – barring family members and co-workers of elected officials from receiving government business.

Will such a reform ever pass? HA!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Sorry … um, maybe … we meant to say maybe.

I saw Joel Lourie about an issue I felt was important two years ago. He blew me so fast, I didn’t even bother to write him a letter or try to discuss it further. I tried to talk with James Smith and he listened and listened with this fake face of concern and did absolutely nothing. They both need to go. At least with Darryl Jackson, we know he’s corrupt, he tells you to your face he’s corrupt and that is the end of the story.

He blew you? Now there’s a scandal.

Haha. My bad. I meant he blew me off – Damn, the English Dept is going to give me hell about that one…. I have got to learn not to try to use street trash phraseology. I am not good at it.

So, what was the issue? Maybe it should have been “blown off.” If you give us no context how are we to judge whether you were raising a legitimate issue or a self-serving pique? Smith apparently listened to you at length and then did nothing. Was he in a position to do anything? Maybe he gave you serious attention and then decided the issue was not important to anybody but you. How do you expect us to agree or disagree with you if we do not know the issue. You may have been given the attention you deserve–we just don’t know. Just because you say it is so does not make it so. You raised the issue. You apparently want us to think it was important. So what was it? Our politicians should be responsive to real needs but not waste their time on personal matters or issues over which they have no control. We might agree with them instead of you. Why are you reluctant to reveal the nature of the issue you raised?

Paul, M326 must think he’s an intellectual but Ike has him pegged.

Idydm,
M326 is just a big government blowhard. I have seen his post. Blowhards like that have sucked at the tit of the taxpayers all their lives. Lazy bastard, you can smell them a mile away.

M326 February 26, 2014 at 7:22 am

And what do you do, Paul? My suspicion is you are sucking at that tit right now. Am I wrong? I think you suck $92,000 worth or thereabouts.

M326 February 25, 2014 at 10:26 pm

That Ike. Such a source of wisdom. I do like his roads.

idcydm February 25, 2014 at 10:56 pm

Yes he did have wisdom, he pegged the military industrial complex.

Great golf game, too.

My, my, Paul. Such anti-intellectualism! You apparently think we should just accept Dan on Divine’s statement that his issue was important without having a clue as to what his issue actually was. Well, I think that is naive. Dan should at least give us the opportunity to determine if his issue rises to the level of importance for all of us. I must say, you certainly have a way with words. Why the violent response? Must have been a bad day for you. It’s OK. I can accept all your anger and transference of aggression. My shoulders (and mind) are broad. It’s going to be just OK!

I live in his district and am a state employee about to retire. I tried to talk to him about the sky high pension fees and he blew me off. Why he wants to send more of my money to New York I don’t know but I do know this; Joel, my family and i are not giving you another dime. Let your rich Wall Street buddies pay your way!

Sounds like Howard Jackson is alleging that Joel Lourie bullied Jackson and others. Seems pretty easy to understand.

The “Jackson” involved was Darryl Jackson, Lillian’s protector. That is who received the call from Brotha Joel. It’s true. Wait and see.

I think it has more to do with him being an evil white democrat devil who only likes blacks that play by his luciferian set of rules. Once you step foot on the Lourie Plantation you best set your mind to workin’ for the white devil. Don’t step out of line or talk back, or else you get the strap. Disgusting.

FITS – first you note there is only an “allegation” of something happening, and you make a jump from an unproven allegation about one employee to saying its a fact for which Lourie should apologize) to a second unmade allegation – that Lourie bullied people??? Where’s the beef fits, this was a nuts non-story, a ‘hit-piece’ usually has false accusations about the person its targeting. Have you gotten too lazy to make your perfunctory bullshit throw of ‘sources in the know said, Louire bullied them’ sheesh.

Judith February 26, 2014 at 8:11 am

Nobody was “bullied” by Lourie. Lourie simply called Darryl Jackson and told him to take care of it. Darryl made a couple of calls, nicely, politely, and that was the end of it. The royal commands were made and obeyed.
