They are not recognized and they do not get the same “privileges” as heterosexual couples, including tax breaks, such as inheritance tax breaks. For the IRS to recognize the marriage, they have to be married in a legal state. Equal is equal and right now it isn’t equal for gays. … but… it will be.

I am SO excited about this election. I spent considerable time looking at the Republican candidates, hoping to find one I thought could beat Lindsey Graham. I found some really great candidates, but none I thought were up to the job… then Bill Connor got in. It didn’t take long to figure out he IS the one who can do it. He is someone who has put his Country before his own life, has successful small business experience, legal training and a record of high achievement all along the way. Bill Connor is the man who can take the fight to Lindsey Graham… and WIN!

If Grahamnasty would come out from under his rock, put on his bigboy pants and debate it would further show Connor to be the REAL leader we need in SC. A Scott/Connor team in Washington would have two genuine SC voices on the issues. When it was Thurmond/Hollings then , then DeMint/Graham, now Scott/Graham We are neutral—no voice. I have known Bill Connor for the last four years and I’ve assessed that he is the best
candidate to take the fight to and beat Lindsey Graham. Bill is a
legitimate combat vet who served at a time and place where his life and limbs
were in constant jeopardy. It is no small thing that we have a record low
number of combat vets in congress. Bill clearly understands the risks and
rewards of war. Although Graham has served honorably as a reserve USAF
JAG, his exposure to actual combat has been nil. Additionally, Bill is a
true Constitutional Conservative who believes in the enumerated powers as
defined in the Constitution. Bill is an articulate, well prepared and
cerebral conservative who can clearly lay out and defend those positions upon
which conservatives agree. He is our best choice to beat Lindsey
Graham. I would ask the writers of FITZNews and others to give Bill fair
consideration and I believe that most will come to the same conclusion.
I had no idea he was a combat vet. He tends to keep that to himself.

Senator Graham is a true American – a war-hardened veteran who fought to keep this country safe while in uniform, and a hard fighting conservative fighting for the true principals that make this country great when where his suit in Washington DC. South Carolina is proud and lucky to have such a gentile, true Southern Gentleman representing our Christian views and beliefs. I dare say if George Washington were alive today he would proudly stand next to Senator Graham and shake his hand and give him his full support. Senator Graham has done more for the State of Carolina than all the past 20 state governors. He should be commended as a model statesman. And he’s a dapper dresser to boot.

On a purely political level, being the first to air anti-Graham ads is smart. He is the last to join the race (so far) and needs to make up for lost time. People that haven’t been paying too close attention to the race will gravitate to him until someone else gets on the air.
This will be an interesting primary. Certainly Lindsey G. knows people are gunning for him on his right flank but he does have considerable built in advantages against his challengers. Probably the most important of which is that GOP voters in this state pefer him above anyone else. His polling has consistently indicated he’s in the lead and he’s got heaps of cash on hand.
Yet, one should never discount the virulence of the extreme right in this state and their blood lust in purging anyone who even remotely talks of compromise with the D’s.
I predict Graham will win relatively easily over other challengers.
