BAD BOYS, BAD BOYS … WHATCHA GONNA DO?

This website has written repeatedly regarding the myth of America’s military …

What myth are we referring to? Most specifically, the one which holds that the U.S. Armed Forces are somehow “fighting for freedom” – and that those who enlist in that fight are somehow deserving of our respect and admiration.

Yeah … we’re not buying it. Any of it.

“Fighting for freedom (either your own or your fellow citizens’) is indeed heroic … but that’s not what America does anymore,” we wrote last November. “Far from it.”

In fact with each new revelation about our country’s domestic spying network – and each thinly justified foreign entanglement (which wastes hundreds of billions of dollars only to breed more of the “terror” America is ostensibly fighting) – the myth of the American soldier as some sort of hero becomes less believable.

Anyway … that’s not really the point of this post.

This is …

According to a recent Associated Press report, “the number of officers who left the Army due to misconduct more than tripled in the past three years.”  Meanwhile the number of enlisted soldiers booted for “drugs, alcohol, crimes and other misconduct” nearly doubled – climbing from 5,600 in 2007 to 11,000 in 2013.

Hmmmm …

According to the AP analysis, the increase in misconduct is due to the stress of extended deployments – but it also “reflects the Army’s rapid growth in the middle part of the decade, and the decisions to relax standards a bit to bring in and retain tens of thousands of soldiers to fill the ranks as the Pentagon added troops in Iraq and continued the fight in Afghanistan.”

Wait … so is it “chicken”or “egg?” We don’t get it …

Frankly, we’re far more concerned with the conduct of the people commanding our military than the conduct of our military members themselves … but this report is another troubling commentary on the state of America’s military.

This website embraces very, very few functions as necessary for government at any level to perform – but the defense of the nation is clearly one of those functions entrusted to the federal government.

Sadly, the federal government can no longer be trusted to perform that function …

UPDATE: Here’s a thoughtful letter in response to this post.

Wonder if it’s the homosexuals that are using the military for dating and social experimentation???..I doubt it under Obama. That B@$t@*d has not yet brought his beloved soldier-killer to justice. Obama’s mad because Hassan pleaded guilty. Obama wants to exonerate him.

That said:

Hitler was allowed to saturate and perpetuate his evil until he murdered and dominated millions. While Pieces of $#!* like FITS sit by and let the Devil grow in strength, so that it would cost hundreds of thousands MORE brave soldiers’ lives…

F*#king idiots like FITS, Guard-dodging Sanford, and Neville Chamberlin Liberal-Tarians stand around with their heads up their @$$#$..

It’s REAL F*@King easy to oppose action against dastardly forces in their infancy. At least George W. Bush showed an America that had the courage, foresight and moral clarity to take the Bull-S#!* from ignorant P*$$!#$ like FITS and Ron Paul, and Do the right thing…

Then you suck the D!*k of your lord-god Obama, while he (along w/ you) sullies the name of America, and you bash the best of us…

F*#k you, you anti-American piece of $#!*…you put trying to be different over honor and right…I only wish I could deport you to the armpit H#!!-holes that you would rather leave for the heinous monsters you so boldly wish to empower…

Having heard nothing after the stipulated ten minutes, Eicke and Lippert returned to Röhm’s cell to find him standing with his bare chest puffed out in a gesture of defiance, so Lippert shot him in the chest at point-blank range.

Why, with the centenary of WW1 nearly upon us, do we hear of no reappraisals of it by historians or political scientists or others? It was certainly discussed a bit just after WW1 as people began to realize how much they had been told was in fact not true.

Good Question.
TBG suspects one reason is because it is beyond “living memory”. WWII was more recent and “sexier” (super villains, air war, neat-o weapons etc., compared to horse drawn cavalry and trench warfare.

On another level WWI resoundingly rebuts the “Pre-emptive War Doctrine”, which is so en vogue now. Remember WWI was the “War to End All Wars”…We won…. and WWI led directly to WWII and can arguably be blamed with the Russian Revolution.

A reading suggestion for you. “The War That Ended Peace” by Margaret MacMillan. Heavy reading, but well worth the effort.

*WHY* do Conservatives keep bringing up Bush, and Hitler? We need to focus on Obama, the dictator, NOW, not those washed up politicians of yesteryear.

What they did is ancient history.

Besides, Bush was honest.

Government is suffocating the private sector and expanding its own, so kids who need jobs are joining the army and bringing their lifestyles with them.

“…but the defense of the nation is clearly one of those functions entrusted to the federal government.”

This has to be the most ignorant line from Fits this year. Alas the year is young. To wit the officers Oath of Commission:

I, _____, having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God.

Seems to me the defense of the nation rests squarely on the shoulders of me and you. Sworn commissioned officers are not under oath to obey any elected official! The elected/appointed Federal Government is this close from being an enemy to the US Constitution. A commissioned officer has the duty, the highest calling, to arrest each and every one of those “federal” guys. This oath is General Washington’s everlasting gift to the People to forever hold the US Constitution as the reason for his duty. President George Washington was a true patriot.

Happy Birthday President Washington!
