A HOUSE DIVIDED … CANNOT CUT GOVERNMENT

We all know how this story is going to end …

“Republicans” in Washington, D.C. say they are serious about reining in deficit spending, but when the opportunity to do so arises they do absolutely nothing to stop it. And so each year hundreds of billions of additional dollars get added to a pile of IOUs now standing at $17.3 trillion.

Or $150,309 for every U.S. taxpayer …

Last October – when the federal government hit its most recently “debt ceiling” – a few hundred billion more got added to the pile with no concessions. Before that – in August 2011 – Congress raised the debt ceiling by $2.4 trillion (which the government blew through in only 17 months) in exchange for $2.1 trillion in cuts over a ten-year period.

Yeah … how is that math sustainable?

Two-and-a-half years later, though, only $42 billion has been “cut.” Not the hundred of billions promised …

Amazing …

So let’s all predict how the latest battle over the debt ceiling will end, shall we?

U.S. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew has said the debt ceiling must be raised by the end of the month – or else. President Barack Obama – who once lectured a Republican president on the dangers of deficit spending – is demanding a “no strings attached” increase. “Republican” leaders are totally directionless, divided and devoid of alternatives.

Some want a debt hike tied to approval of the Keystone XL pipeline, others want it linked to the lifting of an Obamacare mandate, still others want no concessions at all.

Sound familiar?

The end result of all this GOP division will be one of two things: 1) Either a massive expansion of deficit spending with absolutely no concessions to the taxpayer, or, 2) a massive expansion of deficit spending with concessions that are ignored at the earliest possible convenience.

Because that’s how the party of “limited government” rolls …

Quick, someone remind us: What was the point of electing “Republicans” to Congress again?

If it is a DIVIDED GOP, it’s not the GOP Crumbling. It’s the LIBERAL-TARIANS claiming the GOP who are CRUMBLING…

The CONSERVATIVES are the ONLY defense in the Country Standing FOR the people.

When the Simple-Minded paint ALL Republicans with the Liberal-Tarian brush, you are trying to help the democrats….by equating their failure with ALL Republicans..

Can you imagine how much MORE mess we’d be in if Conservatives, fighting the Liberal-Tarians and the Filthy democrats,would not have stopped Obama on the things they have beaten him at????

Let us pray for the courage to walk in the footsteps of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ… Give us the strength to bless those who curse us, to give our cloak to those who steal our coat, to forgive 70 times 7 in fear of our souls, to feed, clothe and house the poor, to visit those in prison, to go into our closet to pray in private, to comb our hair and wash our face when we fast from food and drink so no one but the Holy Spirit will know our sacrifice… to let our light shine atop a hill, instead of burning in hate under a flammable bushel basket…

so that the face of our Lord will be seen in *our* countenance… and this, be the light that people see of the love and mercy within *our* actions, from *our* mercy, and from *our* longsuffering and sacrifice.

For it is written, “I want mercy, and not sacrifice”

….stopped Obama on the things they have beaten him at????

You mind naming a couple of the “things” that Conservatives have defeated the Liberal-Tarian, Filthy Democrat, Obama Tri-Axis at, Big Time?

I know you look at the country and say it is HORRIBLE…Obama sure F*#*ked it up. It can’t be any worse…but:

Remember Obama tried to use the bodies of those slain children at Sandy Hook to enact even more radical gun control. Congress rejected that.

Obama has been trying for years to give more benefits (we don’t have) to millions of illegal aliens through easy citizenship, the GOP has blocked him at every step.

The costly and ignorant Cap and Tax (Trade) has been killed in its tracks because of the GOP.

The GOP won the Sequester battle (for a little while anyway) that saved billions as Obama relented.

Gitmo stayed in business, and murderers incarcerated for years, because responsible Republicans knew it was stupid to free them to kill more.

Extending the Bush Tax cuts in 2010 saved American taxpayers for a couple years anyway from punitive leftwing fees on suffering people.

Don’t get me wrong, Obama has really screwed up the country…but w/o Republicans stopping him some, it could be worse…

And because Obama has used Executive Orders (not the proper process of Congress) to enact some of his B*!!-#$!t, it will be easily un-done when we get our president in.

Tell us how the Bush tax cuts helped reduce the deficit.

Revenues were not a problem under Bush, because so many people were working, and contributing. They were not begging and taking hand-outs, like under Obama..

Also: Bush had to fight a war (2) Clinton threatened over and over…so long that Al Qaeda had an opportunity to attack us on US soil. Protecting us was was not cheap, especially after the neglect of Clinton….And you had a democrat Congress, later on, running up massive debt.

Bush Tax cuts were good for the budget. Give people their money, and they will earn more…not waste it, like the Dumb@$$ in the White House now…

Yeah I mis-calculated in 2012. Unlike yall I can admit being wrong, and then figure out why. When I saw lines around the block in S. Fla. filled with Scar-faces and Melowise Riachardsons frequenting the precinct in Ohio…I got scared for my country…It was well-placed fear, too…

Your ignorant, good-for-nothing @$$ needs to be scared now. Because what you tried to do, will not go unpunished. …

This is somewhat a couple of years old but the general concept holds.

* U.S. Tax Revenue: $2,170,000,000,000
* Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000
* New debt: $1,650,000,000,000
* National debt: $14,271,000,000,000
* Recent budget cuts: $38,500,000,000

Let’s now lop off 8 zeros and pretend it’s a household budget:
* Annual family income: $21,700
* Money the family spent: $38,200
* New debt on the credit card: $16,500
* Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
* Total budget cuts: $385

You know what I notice about your post?

I don’t see one “Lefty” that has given you a “thumbs up” for what are basic economic facts. You can’t even dispute them.

It just goes to show you how the Left wants to stick their collective heads in the sand over the budget in general. The only thing they parrot when it’s brought up is money wasted on wars and that type of stuff.

They still don’t want to confront the reality of the budget regardless of what the money is being spent on.

This comment is not an endorsement for Republicans, who are happy to talk about the issue, but when it comes down to taking a stand have the balls of a 12 year old girl.

In that same vein, Mom is now saying she isn’t going to pay the credit card bills OR the mortgage on the house until hubby promises not to spend so much of his future paychecks on nights out with the boys. How do you think that’s going to work out for our fictional average american family? Especially since the banks got congress to protect them for unsecured credit card debt?

Many if not most Republicans don’t really believe the advantages of lower taxes (tax cuts), reduced spending and cutting the bloated bureaucracy and rent seeking regulations. They chant these things to get elected but do nothing to bring them about. A perfect example, this past Monday the Lexington County Republican Party Executive Committee at their monthly meeting, hosted a presentation on raising the sales tax a penny. This is a tax that was initially proposed without any need for the money. After the tax was proposed several of the county councilmen realized they needed projects to spend the money on and so proposed a committee to solicit ideas from the various county municipalities to spend the money on and thus bribe the citizens of the county to pass the tax increase, which would also increase county government. I was flabbergasted to say the least. Only one person left at the start of the presentation (returning after the presentation was done) and only two or three others left during the presentation. I can only imagine that there will shortly be a presentation on the benefits of 0bamaCare and perhaps another for a recruiting drive by the Democrat Party.

So, let me get this straight.

1) Congress passes a budget, with GOP support.

2) This budget will put us past the debt limit.

3) The GOP is now considering holding the debt ceiling that they agreed to surpass hostage, but not to actually shrink the deficit or pay down the debt. Instead, they are trying to decide whether to demand approval of a pipeline that, let’s be honest, the oil industry wants badly and funds their campaigns to support, or demanding a change to health care reform that every single person knows will not ever happen. Because, you know, making either of those changes will -totally- close the deficit.

Absolutely amazing.

Will Folks, you are awesome! Two great quotes in one article.

1) “Republican” leaders are totally directionless, divided and devoid of alternatives.”
2) “What was the point of electing Republicans to Congress again?”

These two statements should be shouted from the moutain tops! I wish I written them myself.

Rick Perry Lures Washington State Residents to Texas with Thriving Death Penalty

AUSTIN (The Borowitz Report) — Responding to the news that Washington Governor Jay Inslee had suspended the death penalty in his state, Texas Governor Rick Perry seized on the opportunity to urge Washington residents to “vote with your feet and move to Texas, where the death penalty is thriving.”

At a hastily called press conference this afternoon, the Texas Governor made an emotional appeal to Washingtonians who might be disappointed by the sudden suspension of executions in their state: “Come to Texas. The death penalty is alive and well here.”

Blasting Governor Inslee, he reassured Washington residents that if they move to Texas, “as God is my witness, no one will ever take your death penalty away from you.”

“That’s just not what we’re made of in Texas,” he said. “We believe in the sanctity of death.”
