U.S. SENATOR FROM FLORIDA NO FRIEND OF YOUR FREEDOM

This website has generally written in support of U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida). He is typically a reliable pro-taxpayer vote, although we have not hesitated to call him out when he veers from his stated commitment to freedom and free markets.

For example his support for government sugar subsidies … or last week’s bizarre comments impugning the integrity of former National Security Agency (NSA) analyst Edward Snowden, whom Rubio has previously labeled a “traitor.”

During a U.S. Senate Select Committee hearing, Rubio questioned Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, and director of national intelligence James Clapper regarding Snowden’s exposure of America’s vast domestic spying network.

After slamming Snowden for putting “men and women in uniform” in harm’s way, Rubio went off on him for endangering America’s allies in the so-called “War on Terror.”

You know … those other people we’re spying on.

“The second issue I wanted to focus on that really bother me sometimes is these romanticized notions about who Edward Snowden is and what he’s done to this country,” said Rubio. “You know, all the reporting’s been centered on things we’ve read in the papers about the two-hundred fifteen programs, but his revelations go far beyond that. Is it safe to say that he has not just compromised operations, but there are Americans and allies who are at risk because of the actions of this individual?”

And of course the government spies nodded eagerly.

Astounding …

There is no “romanticized notion” about “who Edward Snowden is” as far as we are concerned. He is a hero. It isn’t up for debate.

Rubio, though, is apparently still operating under the assumption the American military industrial complex fights for “freedom” – and that the War on Terror represents an appropriate battlefield in that fight. And that tapping our phones, emails, web histories and credit card records (and storing this information in a secret government facility) represents an acceptable weapon in this war.

None of those assumptions are correct.

America isn’t a “global force for good” as the taxpayer-subsidized recruiting commercials would have you believe – but rather a declining interventionist power spending trillions in borrowed dollars on wars with no compelling national interest, no clear objectives and no exist strategy.

And when those wars don’t pan out … our government takes its spy network and turns it against us.

What a country …

“The greatest thing that we can do for the world is be America,” Rubio once said.

He’s right … although based on his comments about Snowden it is abundantly clear Rubio has absolutely no clue what it means to “be America.”

That’s because American is freedom … and if our freedoms aren’t protected in America, then it isn’t the country we think it is. Seriously … you’d think that fundamental concept wouldn’t be lost on the son of Cuban exiles, right?

Especially when it involves illegal searches and seizures?

Oh well … buena suerte a Rubio traer esta mierda en carolina del sur.

Does this sound like the gov’t propaganda about Snowden the “highschool dropout” to you?

He’s intelligent and ethical, which is much more than I can say about most in our government.

The more the government smears Snowden, the more incompetent it looks. If this dood was such an incompetent moron, then why did he get security clearances so easily?

I guess it’d rather look incompetent than evil.

Rubio is not to be trusted. He is another scumbag RINO who wants to sell us out to the illegals for the votes they will (he hopes) bring, much like Lindsey Graham and John McCain.

He had a golden opportunity, but like Christy, he let the liberals dupe him out of it.

On the bright side, it’s MUCH better for these Liberal-Tarians to expose themselves before we give them more power.

He may be a long-term senator because he’s from Fla. but that is where he’ll stagnate….
Immigration liberalism killed any hope of upward mobility for Rubio.

It’s this kind of hyperbolic, anti-American nonsense that distorts the occasional valid point made during the libertarian rants here. Admittedly, both sides are guilty of it, but this shit is just plain over the top. Any fair-minded observer with even a smidgen of knowledge about the intelligence community (or who has access to the interwebs and the Google) knows that this Snowden cat is a self-important blowhard who saw his shot at fame and took it. That doesn’t mean that some of the concerns raised are legit, but the screamers who have anointed Snowden as their savior have selected an imperfect champion at best. Snowden rails on the dishonesty of the programs, even as he lies through his teeth to inflate his image. Here’s the 30 second greatest hits of his lies (abbreviated for Kool-Aid drinkers).

Broke his legs in Special Forces training? Not so fast – he dropped out of high school, and GED-toters can’t even apply for SF, even through the X-ray program. $200,000+ salary? Nope, another lie. Booz Hamilton confirmed that his actual ending salary was little over half of that. In his initial story regarding how he planned and carried out the plot, he lied about when he left home, which made the rest of the story fall apart. As a matter of fact, it has now come to light that the lie was likely to cover his contact with Chinese officials. Oh, he had previously denied that too, although the Chinese dimed him out on that one: China’s Ministry of State Security was in contact with Snowden during his stay in Hong Kong. No worries there! How did a high school dropout get this gig to start with? He lied on his resume, naturally (although some failures on the part of the CIA played a role in letting that slip through, he still lied). Perhaps most importantly, he’s 100%, no kidding, lying through his teeth about his ability to tap phones and look at the phone data without oversight as part of his job. Even other leakers are disputing this now, and it’s gotten so bad that the Daily Kos (!) even covered it. There are many more examples, but you get the point (I hope, anyway).

There are issues with the NSA program, to be sure. They do not, however, represent existential threats to our Constitutional freedoms, and Snowden isn’t the cerebral moral champion who’s saving us from our tyrannical government. He’s a self-absorbed liar who struck a good lick on his bosses. Let’s talk about the NSA programs, but only after taking deep breaths and not getting too wrapped up in worshipping this guy. He’s not that guy.

Not meaning to offend, but that’s way too much time on the things liberals deem important.

Getting liberals away from the controls, so that can quit destroying this country, is the ONLY thing that matters…

They engage the easier-led to long debates in order to distract them from Obama, and the TOTAL DISASTER he is…

Dump democrats, and Liberal-Tarian moderates…is ALL that matters at this point…The country will not be worth saving if we don’t win a lot of elections, and get big majorities, in the next few years…

“It’s this kind of hyperbolic, anti-American nonsense that distorts the occasional valid point made during the libertarian rants here.”

Well Mike, I see the rants here as more “anti-American government”, which I clearly distinguish from “anti-American”(as in the people).

“Snowden isn’t the cerebral moral champion who’s saving us from our tyrannical government.”

Well, the government has told us before his releases that there was no spying on us going on in violation in the Constitution.

Now, after the releases, they admit that they have violated the Constitution. You yourself admit there are “issues with the NSA program”, somewhat cryptically.

I’m sorry, if we are going to throw around the “liar” label, the US government has admitted that it has, there has now been proof released(that forced them to admit it), and given its overall track record of consistent lying I simply attribute the US government or its lackeys no credibility what so ever.

They can call Snowden a liar, but I have yet to see any specific piece of proof other than anonymous posters commenting on the internet saying otherwise, whereas such proof has clearly come out(and continues) to the US government having lied to everyone.

The US government has ZERO credibility.
