Allen Olson is a nice enough guy. In fact he attends the same church as our founding editor.
But that doesn’t mean we cut this former Columbia, S.C. “Tea Party” leader any slack.
Case in point …
Olson took to his Facebook page this week to offer one of the most ridiculous political platitudes we’ve ever read … the sort of totally meaningless establishment-speak that has America in is current dire straits.
“I am tired of partisan politics, extremists on both sides are preventing anything constructive from getting done. I wish politicians and activists would put America first, before their political party or their biggest donors,” Olson wrote.
Hmmmm-kay …
Olson’s post generated quite the circle jerk of positive affirmation from his Facebook followers.
“LIKE X 12,” one wrote. “If only they understood this imagine what America would be like.”
“What (a) wonderful thought,” another wrote.
“It is sicking (sic) ….. I know one of ours that is being crucified for having dinner with the president …. how in the world are we going to come together for the good of our country if we don’t talk to each other!” exclaimed another.
Ah, South Carolinians …
Anyway our founding editor – who specializes in raining on pablum parades – responded thusly …
dude … there is no ‘partisan’ when the parties are the same.
Wait … the parties are the same? Duh.
Olson was quick with a comeback …
“My point is the extremists on both the left and the right make it impossible to work together,” he wrote. “That is my definition of partisanship.”
Sic Willie’s retort?
162 “Republicans” and 89 Democrats voted for a pork-laden farm bill this week that will cost taxpayers $956 billion over the coming decade. They “work together” alright … to gang-rape the taxpayer. But hey … what do I know, I’m just an “extremist” who is preventing “constructive” things from getting done.
Olson’s response to that?
(Crickets)
Don’t ever fall for the “Democrats and Republicans need to work together” bullsh*t. Democrats and Republicans work together all the time. And that’s the problem.

I NEVER trusted Olsen. The State ran right to him to bash Amazon and the 2,700 SC jobs…He attacks investors and contributors, equating them w/ handout seekers, who will not work…
He was dripping w/ talk of Corporate Welfare (no such thing) and “Level Playing Field” (Google to see who is behind that)….They almost took Haley out before she even got started….
A lot of leftwingers (at heart) have infiltrated (or tried) the Conservative Movement, because they wised up just enough to realize that Obama is a lost cause. They have no other chance to cling to relevance, w/o co-opting the success of Conservatism…
Yeh the parties are the same etc etc.
Thats why Fits identifies Republicans he doesnt like as RINOS.If he REALLY believed the above he would simply call them Republicans. He doesnt because he wants to seperate them out from REAL Republicans!
Like HIM!
The Democrats are running circles around the Republicans. In fifteen years the Republican base will mostly be dead and hopefully their backward ass views will pass on with them.
It runs in cycles. People get sick of Republicans, they put a Democrat in office. After they get tired of the Democrats shit, they vote Republican. A vicious circle, it keeps coming around.
Cycles

pestilence, war and famine
cleanliness, peace and fortune
is that the church of adulterors and foot fienes?
I’m with euwe max from the other day. If there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats, then lets elect Democrats!!!
I agree. They will run this country into the ground faster. This will allow those of us that understand the opportunity to pick up the pieces and put this country back on track. We will be able to do it instead of our kids n grands.
When we have to depend on the likes of you to”understand” anything Pytel,we ARE in deep trouble,
They work together all the time, which is why this hasn’t been the most unproductive Congress in fairly recent history. They work together so well that all of the issues in the ACA Republicans bitch about have been remotely worked on, because instead of demanding defundings and repeals dozens of times, Republicans actually sought to fix problems with the bill. Their bipartisanship is so great that we haven’t had shutdowns or debt ceiling scares. Their cooperative spirit is so incredible that Harry Reid didn’t have to even think of changing the filibuster rules to stop a 100% blockade of judicial seat considerations by the opposing party.
Oh, wait.
Congressional bipartisanship to scratch each others’ asses is always present. What isn’t present now is bipartisanship to run the government properly, efficiently, and in the best interests of the citizenry even if it means getting something you don’t necessarily like. Nothing proves this more than the government shutdown just recently. It wasn’t over the deficit. It wasn’t over the national debt. It wasn’t over domestic spying, indefinite detention, killing our own citizens, drone warfare, out of control defense spending, our torture program, our decade-long occupations in the Middle East. It wasn’t to demand a jobs bill. It wasn’t to demand reforming the tax system to be less riddled with holes. It wasn’t over ending corporate welfare, or breaking apart too-big-to-fail entities, or reign in corruption and fraud going on in various industries. It was over dismantling or delaying health care reform with no offered fixes, no offered replacement, nothing whatsoever. And it ended with essentially zero changes to the ACA and, surprise, more fucking pork.
So, yes, the extremists are doing a world of good to our legislative process and our spending habits. That is, if you’re a rich and powerful elite who sucks our country dry.
Fits and his fellow Republicans label those you designate as “a rich and powerful elite” as
“Jobs Creators.”
That’s special…Sic in church! My mind reels at the image. Black robes with hoodies, darkened cathedral smelling of sulfur…unearthly low-pitched chanting…floor inlaid with a giant pentagram…virgin lying in chains on a sacrificial altar…horny little midgets running around whacking their little bitty puds…Willie and Allen engaged in a tug of war with the dagger…arguing over whose turn it was to do the deed.
Allen wins but Willie grabs the still beating heart and runs around the room with it…slam dunks it into a boiling cauldron…
“There’s the Beef!” some old crone hollers…
Damn.
Your vision of FITS church is like a mashup of James Earl Jones in Conan and the “Thank you sir, may I have another” fraternity initiation from Animal House….
Not real big on the whole Reformation thing, eh?
Don’t know what a satanic service has to do with the Reformation but, a long time ago, when I was living in downtown Charleston, some dude nailed a black glove to my ground floor apartment door in a dispute over my designated parking place.
FITS attends a Lutheran church…
Despite the inanity of the comments in general, it’s a brilliant link video wise to excellent commentary.
“Excellent commentary?”
Where have you been Homer?
George Wallace was spouting this line back in the sixties!Hell,Willie probably ripped this off from one of ol George’s speeches!
The header picture: A mind that’s weak and a back that’s strong.
Soldiers were only valued when–and as–cannonfodder. The wounded and disabled are now despised by Republicans as a useless expense.
What Has Conservatism Given Us? . Concentration Camps, Snuff Films, Ethnic Cleansing, Racist Jim Crow And Juden Laws.
Starving poor, children without any health care . . . And not one recorded good thing.

They abuse their own children.
They prey on other people’s children.
They don’t flush in public restrooms.
They seek “romance” in public restrooms..
They don’t wash their hands after using the toilet.
They kick their own dog and shoot the little neighbor girl’s beloved cat.
They park in handicapped spots.
They stiff in tips.
They litter.
They are active and passive vectors for a host of diseases, not a few venereal.
They are rife with mental disturbances.
Most smell.
In my long study of conservatives, the closest analogy I can find elsewhere is the naked mole rat, a colonial species of rat that lives basically in “hives”, a hierarchy instilled in large part by coprophagy with chemical “instructions” in the “envelopes,” and with most males neutered. GOPers to a “T.”
The picture looks to be around the era of the Spanish-American war. I am guessing that it was taken during the campaign in the Philippines.
One of Mark Twain’s most angry, vituperative, and spot on essays came out of this war.

You refer to Marine Corps General Smedley Butler, two-time recipient of the Medal of Honor. His fame also derives from his missive “War is a Racket.”

Dee-lightful.
EVERYONE here should read “War is a Racket”. Great book.
Looks like circa 1917 to me, not 1890’s Spanish-American.
I have a picture of my great uncle who was a WWI vet and he is wearing the same uniform (including the campaign hat).
Prior & up to Pearl Harbor, some were still wearing the same uniform
The rolling terrain in the background looks like a training base somewhere in the Midwest US.
And yes, definitely since 1991, war has become a BIG racket.
Right before I got activated in 1991, I remember James Baker saying on TV (and I quote): “this conflict is about JOBS” {i.e.: Gulf I)
You can probably “google” that remark
That being said, we should have kept that damn oil as payment for freeing Kuwait and dared anyone to make us leave

Yes vote against everything and every expenditure and soon we will have to shut down Charleston over 3 millimeters of snow!
We got the country we bought. The textiles went overseas, and turned our mill towns into meth towns. There is no opportunity in Woodruff, or Honea Path. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. The social contract binding the US together is tattered and torn.
The poor need government for opportunity.
The rich don’t need government because it means less freedom.
Every week it is another “So-and-so said something on their Facebook” or “Some commenter said THIS on a sports message board”. I know click bait drives up page hits, but it feels like the site is running on fumes.
Allen Olson is running for Lexington County Council. Should he win (he won’t), he is so weak on his beliefs that he will become just another tax-hiking Lexington Councilman.
Being the proud moderate that I am here it is in a nutshell:
No matter what country you are in, you drive on EITHER the right or left side of the road – that is a fact.
If you go to far to the left OR right you will run off the road and have a wreck and fuck up your journey and your day.
The key to a successful & SAFE journey is to drive slightly to the right OR left of center.
Going too far to the right or left will cause an end of your journey.
Too bad a number of dipshits (mostly right wing-nuts but no all) in Washington AND Columbia can’t seem to grasp that simple premise……………………….
you mean the “sort of totally meaningless establishment-speak” that you hear in a church? afraid you’ve dropped about 20 points in my esteem Fits. i preferred to think of you spending sunday mornings hungover than sitting in a barn full of morons listening to magic talk.
